Weller in Tights

Not a new song but how to sing a classic

OK, all you forum police, don't bother saying:

"why have you started a new thread for this????", If you don't wanna read this go elsewhere, you choose what you click on.

I know I have put this elsewhere but I just wanted as many as possible to see the correct way to sing our anthem. AND YES THIS IS OUR ANTHEM. Any books on football chants I've read, have always attributed this to us and no other club.

The trouble is it is just being murdered at the moment as it is being sung far too fast, and the famous hand signals at the end has just become a blur.

So read carefully, pass on to your friends, L block boys try to influence each other, sing slowly, loud and proud.

When you're smiling

When you're smiling

The whole world smiles with you

When you're laughing

When you're laughing

The sun comes shining through

But when you're crying

You bring on the rain

So stop your sighing

Be happy again

Cause when you're smiling, when you're smilingThe whole world smiles with you, (La la, la la la - this is sung slowly with slow waving of Max Bygraves style hand waving, also known as Jazz hands - ask someone if not sure)

The whole world smiles with you, (La la, la la la - as above)

The Whole (slight pause while hands go up then down)

World (slight pause while hands go up then down)

Smiles (slight pause while hands go up then down)

With Yooouuu ( both hands up doing Jazz hands)

Oh and one last thing, DON'T LET THAT FAT DRUMMER JOIN IN

I'm pretty sure we do the hand signals correctly it just looks wrong because we do it too fast and it all just blurs.

I don't think we need to just sing this a lot slower, we need to sing it in a completely different way. People don't want to tune into to our fans dreary out of tune version. Sing it in tune (and that's not Jersey bleeding Budd style) and it would sound fantastic.

But that's as likely to happen as our stadium being refurbished to look impressive.

I thought someone else posted this the other day and said we should do it slow 15 before kick off?

Seems alright for me, as long as people in the Kop join in

Everyone knows the words and actions to 'Oh when you're smiling', don't they?

Let's face, the atmosphere at the KPS is appalling, with or without the drum.

I'd happily sing this, I see it as my number one City chant in fact.

:D Why don't we do the Dean Martin version from his Rat Pack days at the Sands Hotel Ballroom in Las Vegas?

When you're drinking, when you're drinking,

the world looks good to you.

When you're drinking, you get stinking,

it helps your point of view.

But when you're sober, those grey skies won't pass,

when you're sober, lifes a pain in the....oooooh

Keep drinking, that's what I'm thinking,

cos it's what I Iike to do :D:D:D

I think what you've got to do is not give up if it's not brilliant at the first time of asking. It'll only get better the more times you try, if people are going to start it and a few join in, do it most weeks, it'll take time but it has potential.

Regardless of whether it's song correctly or not, your description is not helpful at all.

Record the correct version for us, along with a video of the hand movements? :P

I've got a fairly decent one called "One Ginger Pele", entertaining for a quick read.

'Oh and one last thing, DON'T LET THAT FAT DRUMMER JOIN IN '

Is there ANY need at all to say that? Its just uncalled for, especially with Weller in tights as your name.

Puts me off the idea of helping you create an atmosphere before the game completely. I prefer creating noise during the game to be honest?
