Are you all not getting worked up about nothing really? This is BBC local radio, the commentators will be bias, its the same for Derby, Forest etc. We dont want commentators to sit on the fence. I do agree that sometimes they waffle on about anything but the game, yesterday being a prime example. I admit to getting somewhat frustrated myself that the first actual football commentary came after 4 mins of kick off!!!!

Other than that I would rather have someone opinionated like Alan young than the boredom of Rowett, Walsh etc, Yes he gets it wrong, yes he can be obstinate, but he does love the badge. He shouts like a supporter sometimes and this is where people misunderstand the line between BBC pundit and supporter. When he shouted at Beckford late on yesterday for not tracking back, do you not think there were hundreds of the blue army in selhurst park not shouting the same? It`s the desire to win, the will that the players would give as much as you or I would for our club.

Personally I think this thread is more about the fact that cos we won and Wellens didnt play the moaning minnies on this site didnt know who they were going to attack today!!!!

Agreed, I dont get to many games due to living away, but like to catch up with things and listen to games on foxes player, been a subscriber for years! Some of the crap he spouts is embarrasing :glare: He cant even get the names of our players right.

I'm more of a reader on this forum than a poster.

But this guy really bugs me with his illogical commentary favouring Howard/Wellens and hoof ball.

Anyone tries anything different and they get slated from him.

And god forbid anyone have a differing opinion then him on the phone in.

There have been occasions I have had the commentary on whilst also watching the game just to see how accurate his commentary actually is - lets say its not very accurate.

said it before and I'll say it again. young - wellens - howard - gallagher, axis of evil!

all joking aside, not that that was a joke per se, I honestly prefer watching shitty streams with Thai commentators than listening to foxes player. I loathe young and his "opinions", and am embarrassed by the way stringer sucks up to "al".

His most bizarre statement Monday was in reference to our white kit, he said something like this " i like the all white kit , u put it on in the changeroom and straight away u feel 6" taller!!

5 Live was excellent yesterday, apart from one period where they were rambling on about nothing (which was good for us, near the end and nothing seemed to be happening) they were professional and you knew who was on the ball and clearly where the game was being played.

It's been the same on 5 Live Sports Extra in the past when we've had commentary.

Much better to listen to than RL.

Anyone who was listening to RL over 5live deserves Alan Young lol

Disgraceful, was very annoyed when they said he would be re-joining the team for this season.

Not only is he very biased to a select group of players but he actually bloody awful at his job, he's just terrible at it.

Stringer is poor at commentating too, listening to Radio 5 yesterday was like a breath of fresh air, you could actually paint the picture of the match in your mind as opposed to inane rambling about the colour of someone's hat.

I find it quite amazing that so many would knock Young's biased commentary when:

A. It's only local radio.. He's gonna be biased towards City AND certain players..maybe he genuinely thinks Beckford is overrated and that Mills is poor at present ( both views with which I would concur)?

B. The amount of bias on here, crucifying certain players whilst leaving others relatively scot free has been astounding over the past few weeks..

Stones and glass houses comes to mind....

Your comparing a forum commenter to someone working for the BBC with a job he's paid to do?

Ahhh but the difference here is, on FT you can chose to agree or dissagree and subseqently have a debate about it. With Foxes player (which is the only option for fans living away) you are bombarded with utterly awful match analysis and have no choice but to put up with it :(

Yep... I don't always agree with his opinions whatsoever.. But I would rather have pundits actually expressing views than being completely neutral all the time.

If you want boring neutrality see other pundits on other programmes.

Young has his opinion, same as everyone else. It's a laff sometimes hearing it.. Same as everyone else

Sometimes he gets it right.. Sometimes he don't.. Same as everyone else..

took the words right out of my mouth. i couldnt make it to the game yesterday so i listened to the radio and like you said the way he is against beckford and defends steve howard is a total disgrace, if it had been beckford being sent off he would have blamed him for being un-professional etc, but just because it was his idol howard i didnt hear him say one bad word about him. i didnt go to the game yesterday so i cant say but it seems as if he doesnt like beckford one bit and is trying to turn the fans against him. ALAN YOUNG OUT!!!

Alan young does my head in, as am trying to listen to an accurate as possible match report in a way and he is so biased! I mean i am all for some opinion, but sometimes he paints an awful picture of what is happening in the match.

As with most pundits/commentators was good initially and has passion then gets too full of himself, and becomes over the top

I'm going to have to defend him about Yakubu mind, he wasn't the only one who just got fed up with his frustrating non-existant performances.

I had Rl and 5 Live on at the same time for a while. Young was going on and on about something while there was quite a bit of action going on according to 5 Live. That's when I switched RL off. I want to know what's going on at the moment, not someone's ramblings!

Good commentators shouldn't let their personal opinions get in the way of calling the game fairly for the listener. Unfortunately the two of them are incapable of doing so.

Aye, both. I've had Radio Leicester on in one ear whilst actually being at a game 2 or 3 times and often wondered what game Stringer was watching as well as Young. They are useless to the point that I don't like listening to the radio coverage anymore because I can't be sure that it's reporting an accurate description of what is happening. So I enjoyed 5 Live's coverage on Monday. It was a nice change to have a neutral, unbiased opinion of what was happening. If only they hadn't kept cutting away to other sporting events of the day.

To start off I thought it would be great to have "fans" commentating on our matches, but now I can see that we need a neutral view if we're ever going to get a realistic one.
