Kitchandro Posted 3 January 2012 Posted 3 January 2012 Yeah, everyone hates goals I didn't say I was getting fed up of his goals, I said I was getting fed up of his frustrating non-existant performances. Learn to read little boy.
NewburyFox Posted 3 January 2012 Posted 3 January 2012 He can be very annoying, especially when he deliberately talks over a caller that is making sense, but he's right about Beckford yesterday. He didn't put pressure on the Palace backline when they had the ball, which was probably the most crucial job for him to do at that time in the game. I don't care if he made a couple of runs (which then had woeful finishes), fact is that as soon as Nugent and Schlupp went off and Beckford came on, the Palace defence had all the time in the world on the ball. So frustrating, as anyone can run around and be a nuisance upfront.
Thracian Posted 3 January 2012 Posted 3 January 2012 I had to laugh when Bamba was mouthing off and Young said how he "would have sorted it". Youngy might have fancied himself as a physical centre-forward in his day but even at that time I reckon he'd have made a big mistake taking Bamba on. Unless he was actually referring to some sort of charm offensive!
accessory Posted 3 January 2012 Posted 3 January 2012 Yeah, everyone hates goals Doing a wonderful job at Blackburn, isn't he? Look how high they've ridden in the top flight since he joined them..
The Doctor Posted 3 January 2012 Posted 3 January 2012 Doing a wonderful job at Blackburn, isn't he? Look how high they've ridden in the top flight since he joined them.. And look how much further they'd be in the shit with out him...
EnderbyFox Posted 3 January 2012 Posted 3 January 2012 Doing a wonderful job at Blackburn, isn't he? Look how high they've ridden in the top flight since he joined them.. He's scored 12 goals in 14 apps, hardly his fault the rest of the team, including the manager is shite.
Trav Le Bleu Posted 3 January 2012 Posted 3 January 2012 Doing a wonderful job at Blackburn, isn't he? Look how high they've ridden in the top flight since he joined them.. Can we move the +1 button please? I +1ed this tripe when all I wanted to do was reply to it. Anyhow - Yakubu... erm... 13 goals this season? And in a poor team. Yeah, he's crap alright.
Leicester Lass Posted 3 January 2012 Posted 3 January 2012 Doing a wonderful job at Blackburn, isn't he? Look how high they've ridden in the top flight since he joined them.. You could say the same for Billy Sharp then (who, judging by your posts I assume you'd like to see here), 3rd top scorer in the Championship but his team are second bottom. Some people don't have a clue.
I am Rod Hull Posted 3 January 2012 Posted 3 January 2012 Doing a wonderful job at Blackburn, isn't he? Look how high they've ridden in the top flight since he joined them.. 12 goals already, may get 20+ by the end of the season. Blaming the Yak for Blackburns plight is just crazy talk....
Joe G Posted 3 January 2012 Posted 3 January 2012 I listen to the matches on LCFC player and to be honest I feel you get good coverage from the pair of them and disagree with people saying get rid of him I think he says it how it is.
brockmyster Posted 3 January 2012 Posted 3 January 2012 I find it hard to believe that hes an 'expert analysis' considering he cant count to 3 with the subs, and he doesnt even know the name of half the squad
jimmer Posted 3 January 2012 Posted 3 January 2012 I listen to the matches on LCFC player and to be honest I feel you get good coverage from the pair of them and disagree with people saying get rid of him I think he says it how it is.
accessory Posted 3 January 2012 Posted 3 January 2012 12 goals already, may get 20+ by the end of the season. Blaming the Yak for Blackburns plight is just crazy talk.... Not if he only plays for one game in four - much as he was doing with us.
Babylon Posted 3 January 2012 Posted 3 January 2012 Not if he only plays for one game in four - much as he was doing with us. He has scored in 7 of the 18 games he has played. So he's obviously playing one game in every 2.57
Webbo Posted 3 January 2012 Posted 3 January 2012 He has scored in 7 of the 18 games he has played. So he's obviously playing one game in every 2.57 Edit, reread what you said.

m00nie Posted 3 January 2012 Posted 3 January 2012 I listen to the matches on LCFC player and to be honest I feel you get good coverage from the pair of them and disagree with people saying get rid of him I think he says it how it is. when his vision is so blinkered its hardly saying it how it is though.. yesterday he was out of order.. from the moment beckford came to come on, his voice and disgust when he had to take his ring off before he could come on. then every thing he did he slated, even howard was being sent off and he prefered to slate beckford instead.. how many times did he say danns needs to come off also, even though we had used all subs, he still wanted to replace him with gally.
MattGamble92 Posted 3 January 2012 Posted 3 January 2012 Anyone who says Local Radio needs to have opinions and bias because it is Local Radio is missing the point. There are a vast majority of people who use BBC Radio Leicester to form an opinion about our football club. When you get back in your car from a match and stick the radio on you are listening to 90% of callers who haven't been to the game and are simply regurgitating Alan Young's "i chewed nails for breakfast, i headed cannonballs not footballs" attitude and it could literally send you insane. For example - When Young bashes Beckford. There is someone sat at home in their underpants with a can of carling watching Gilette soccer saturday on mute, thinking "oh Beckford must be shit again, lets ring in" and they do. Other nobs who haven't been hear it, and then it just creates that opinion amongst fans. I can't understand the benefit of hearing people's opinions who haven't been to the game, i just cant. I'd rather hear the views of fans who haven't been to the game and get a different viewpoint from the drunken fascist scot. Luckily im in a position to go to the vast majority of games, but even if you do, you still use Local Radio as a way of getting a general viewpoint from others at your Football Club, but eventually you realise ,really it's a parody show and shouldn't be taken seriously at all.
Bugg Posted 3 January 2012 Posted 3 January 2012 Listening to it on the iPlayer now. And a guy is criticising Beckord's performance from MANCHESTER CITY CENTRE. Obviously he had been listening to Alan Young's garbage commentary, and as soon as he made that point you could tell Alan Young was so smug about the caller agreeing with his ridiculous review of Jermaine's performance.
Charl91 Posted 3 January 2012 Posted 3 January 2012 I didn't say I was getting fed up of his goals, I said I was getting fed up of his frustrating non-existant performances. Learn to read little boy. Doesn't matter, as long as he is putting them away at a good rate. Look at Darren Bent - contributes nothing to build up play, but still gets a lot of caps for Engand. There's a reason this kind of player gets played. Then again, a player with over 100 PL goals must be too poor for Leicester City. I'm sure you would prefer Waghorn, he runs a lot, which obviously makes him a better player. And little boy? I'm older than you Can probably read better too. You need to work on your insults. Doing a wonderful job at Blackburn, isn't he? Look how high they've ridden in the top flight since he joined them.. I don't think this even needs a proper response.

Narborough_fox Posted 3 January 2012 Posted 3 January 2012 Him and Stringer drive me insane. You do realise that is Moussa in your sig ans not Schlupp.
Kitchandro Posted 3 January 2012 Posted 3 January 2012 Doesn't matter, as long as he is putting them away at a good rate. I'm older than you Can probably read better too. You need to work on your insults. If you comment like a child you will be reffered to as one. There is only so many times I can hear sarcastic comments suggesting only goalscoring matters. It's an extremely juvenile argument and especially so when I have already said specifically what I don't like about him and you've chosen to ignore it. Darren Bent has never done it for it England, and was a failure at Tottenham, nor is he really a comparison to Yakubu, for a number of reasons. In the Championship, if you want to be challenging for promotion and getting consistent results you can not get away with lazy players who go missing for large parts, especially if said player is supposed to be your central striker. It's not what Yakubu does in games that he scores in, it's what he does in games that he doesn't. In almost every game he didn't score in he was bloody useless, he refused to try and escape his marker or chase the ball down, and on the few occassions that the ball did get to him his first touch was terrible and he failed to hold it up. It was like playing with 10 men and as I'm sure you know, you are at a disadvantage if you play with 10 men. And I'm not talking 1 or 2 games here, I'm talking 7 or 8. To suggest that work rate is not important in the Championship is completely retarded and is purely something said to excuse popular players. What we needed last season (and this one) was consistency and Yakubu wasn't that. Now when you're trying to survive in the Premiership it's a bit different, you don't need to be consistent as none of the teams around you are either, you just need a few good results in a row to get you out of trouble. You can't argue with Yakubu's goal record for us or Blackburn, though for us he had so many chances created for him that most could have scored the amount he did, but I digress. When he is in that goal drought what is he doing? Bugger all. And when you've got a striker doing bugger all it will contribute to bad results. Look at Beckford and Nugent. Neither are in great goalscoring form but I'd want Nugent in ahead of Beckford every time. Why? Because the majority of the time Nugent will try and make himself involved, hold the ball up well and he'll always work hard. Even if he doesn't score he's worth something to the team.
cc_star Posted 3 January 2012 Posted 3 January 2012 Yep... I don't always agree with his opinions whatsoever.. But I would rather have pundits actually expressing views than being completely neutral all the time. If you want boring neutrality see other pundits on other programmes. Young has his opinion, same as everyone else. It's a laff sometimes hearing it.. Same as everyone else Sometimes he gets it right.. Sometimes he don't.. Same as everyone else.. Summarise the action that actually happens, don't filter it through your personal bias first If Beckford looked dangerous on that occasion, you say so, if he looked disinterested you say so... If Howard was a disgrace you say so, if he put himself about & was unlucky you say so You don't filter it through your own agenda & then tell people, calling it as it is is the critical thing The listeners pay for a summariser, so they deserve one It totally should be full of opinion & not bland, but it should be opinion on what actually happened & not an agenda or personal bias that you hold The guy's a disgrace, no way should he be on the radio & I don't mean for his agenda (although that's a point) It's because he can barely string sentence together Peter Schemeical summarised on pre-season once, was excellent as have Walshie & Sav been in the past
