The Year Of The Fox Posted 11 February 2012 Posted 11 February 2012 Exactly, it was a song with no connection to Leicester but someone started singing it at a game and it caught on. Nobody went '**** it I ent singing this shit cos it's got no connection to Leicester' All songs have to start somewhere, as someone pointed out further up football is a totally different game now, songs like this are going to be more the norm, so either go with the flow and enjoy or go to every home game and be bitter at whats being sung! I know what I'd choose Its UNIQUE though
Simmo86 Posted 11 February 2012 Posted 11 February 2012 Its UNIQUE though So when you go to games the only song you sing is WYS? Because all the others you've listed aren't
Ross 'LCFC' Turner Posted 11 February 2012 Posted 11 February 2012 No doubt you do sit in B2 Ha no i dont actually. Do yourself a favour and stop living in the past.
Guest Col city fan Posted 11 February 2012 Posted 11 February 2012 Just wanna say again.. This chant is good stuff... Keep at it fellas. It sounds great IMO...
Guest safetosurfthisbeach Posted 11 February 2012 Posted 11 February 2012 Hooray! Something positive happens! A new song which everyone seems to like! However, some people really cannot cope with positive developments......we should allocate an area of the ground where they can bitch and moan to their hearts content, while the rest of us get on with our lives and enjoy the moment.
Guesty Posted 11 February 2012 Posted 11 February 2012 I prefered it when we did this instead of the Poznan when we scored the second goal. Plus always wondered why Jobber doesn't use 2 drum sticks when he seems to struggle with just 1 after a while.
jonlcfc1990 Posted 11 February 2012 Posted 11 February 2012 I love how this is making the Poznan grow in strength! The atmosphere really is building this chant has helped that. I guess it's new to jobber but it didn't take him long to get used to it fair play to him though for getting involved
Narborough_fox Posted 11 February 2012 Posted 11 February 2012 How long is it going to take for people to realise we won't get WYS sung unless 1000's sing it and that won't happen. Stop living in the "good old days" and realise we have to try different things to create an atmosphere.
davieG Posted 11 February 2012 Posted 11 February 2012 That everyone carries on the traditional songs- WYS, Iwan Is A Welshman, Score Leicester Score, When You're Tired and Weary, We're Leicester City We Rule Supreme, bertie Mee Said To Bill Shankley, Bring On The Sunderland There's more variety in there than there was in 90 mins today. And I'm only 25, I don't even know the old stuff. One lad In know quite well, was asking me after Boxing Day what the 'hark now hear the Leicester sing' song was about. Now, I wasn't around then either. But I knew about it. Cos I learnt the history of the club. I wonder how many of you posting on here could actually write each lyric word for word to the above songs I've mentioned? Without Googling them. As many have pointed out all those songs have been/are sung by other clubs only WYS might be uniquely ours but has never really taken off, never been sung at the right pace and is disliked by many fans so although people might want it to be 'our' song, and I wish it was I suspect you'll be waiting a long time to hear it sung anywhere near as universally as the we love you song was sung today. You can't force people to sing songs it has to be spontaneous, people are wasting their time on here trying to persuade people to sing some song. Back in the day it was easier because so many songs in the 60's were easy to sing along with or adapt the words, songs like Michael (Stringfellow) row the boat ashore, You've not seen nothing like the mighty 'String' / Finn, even the Hollies song Stay was belted out to Frank McLintock when he was leaving for Arsenal and your Ewan is Welshman is a 50s Lonnie Donnegan song also songs from the 40s/50s (YNWA from a 1945 musical Carousel) were more acceptable but would get laugh at today. I guess what i'm say is the material is just not there like it used to be so when one does come along it's not surprising many will use it.
broughtonblue Posted 11 February 2012 Posted 11 February 2012 Ffs, over the two years I've been a member on here I've seen countless threads on here about getting an atmosphere going at home games, now we have a song that gets most of the stadium joining in, we still get some tw@ts moaning! today was the best atmosphere in years! For fuks sake enjoy it or stay away and listen to stringer and young!!

Basingstoke Fox Posted 12 February 2012 Posted 12 February 2012 Loved seeing the highlights of Gallys 2nd on the FL Show. oooOOOoooOOOOOO YAAAAAAHHHHHHHHH
acooling08 Posted 12 February 2012 Posted 12 February 2012 It is a little bit cringey, but it's much better than silence and at least it keeps you warm.
SaltyDog Posted 12 February 2012 Posted 12 February 2012 How long is it going to take for people to realise we won't get WYS sung unless 1000's sing it and that won't happen. Stop living in the "good old days" and realise we have to try different things to create an atmosphere. A good few of us sang WYS on a couple of occasions today in K1/L1 so it's not totally dead and gone... we do need to look to the future for creating new and innotive atmosphere but there is no reason why WYS should be cast out, just need to get more learning the words if that is in fact the problem as to why it isn't sang as much these days
Vlad the Fox Posted 12 February 2012 Posted 12 February 2012 Just before Gally took his free kick yesterday you could here it drifting over from the kop and then spread along the east stand to l1. Sounded great.
Bettsj2 Posted 12 February 2012 Posted 12 February 2012 Yes, its cringeworthy that we've just taken someone elses chant and yes, i'd prefer it if everyone sung WYS, but yesterday, even some in the West stand were joining in. Gotta be a good thing.
Wakeyfox Posted 12 February 2012 Posted 12 February 2012 Listened to the game on foxes player and watched it (about 10secs behind on Thai tv) and thought the atmosphere sounded the best for a home game in ages. Yes, we're copying other clubs with this chant but surely creating a good atmosphere and raising the game of the players (even Gallagher!) Has got to be a good thing. Keep it up I say...

THIS Even after Cardiff scored the penalty we startedbthe chant straight away so the players still played their game. Rather than the usual tense atmosphere and moaning. So much better.
purpleronnie Posted 12 February 2012 Posted 12 February 2012 I find it really odd that some fans have a problem with copying other songs, its been happining for decades. I remember when loads of clubs fans sang YNWA.
flowwolf Posted 12 February 2012 Posted 12 February 2012 Yes it has. I'm not denying that. That's my point though. Don't you find it really sad that the atmosphere improves over a song that has no relation to our club whatsoever? I'd be bloody esctatic if our whole ground was able to sing WYS instead of this shite. Everyone being the 20-30 14 years olds around you and the 5 year olds in the family stand? And believe it or not, this is exactly what I do Tell you what Stu , you invent a new song and if it's good enough it will catch on and every one will thank you. But you won't will you ? so put up or shut up, Jesus such negativity.

shade Posted 12 February 2012 Posted 12 February 2012 songwriter? are you mental, a chant is the most basic thing in the world, if you can think to speak, you can write a chant!
