Mack Posted 11 February 2012 Posted 11 February 2012 Mark Halsey was excellent today. Credit where credit is due. I cant think of a bigger refereeing contrast than Halsey today and that turd Ward against Middlesbrough the other Wednesday. I'm guessing sending Halsey to us today was a gesture from the FA given our last two experiences with Officials. It's only a shame we cant get this standard of Official week in week out.
Webbo Posted 11 February 2012 Posted 11 February 2012 I hope someone will start a thread praising DB11 for this performance.
Matt Posted 11 February 2012 Posted 11 February 2012 Normal service resumes next week no doubt. As you say though credit where credit is due - people are quick enough to jump on referee's when they are wrong and make bad decisions let's hear something positive about referee's for once, we need more like Mark Halsey.
davieG Posted 11 February 2012 Posted 11 February 2012 I was starting to think maybe the ref had been given the nod to treat us carefully but things seem to even up in the 2nd half, he was certainly decent.
Captain... Posted 11 February 2012 Posted 11 February 2012 Wasn't clear what the Cardiff penalty was given for they didn't seem too sure on the radio either, and my stream was broken at the time, he also ended up playing 6 minutes of added on time, but up until their pen Stringer and Young had nothing but complements for him.
foxfanazer Posted 11 February 2012 Posted 11 February 2012 Yeah he had a good game. We were due a decent ref though
ithuriel Posted 11 February 2012 Posted 11 February 2012 Got to admit that the ref was good, i barely noticed him and his assistants.
Marmite Posted 11 February 2012 Posted 11 February 2012 Thats the difference between premiership referees and league referees, they are alot better
Tielemans63 Posted 11 February 2012 Posted 11 February 2012 I was going to post the same. He's a very good ref Mark Halsey. Was really impressed with the way he reffed the Liverpool - Man U FA cup game last week.
acooling08 Posted 11 February 2012 Posted 11 February 2012 They were good, only potential bad point was their penalty, I had no idea what it was for and still don't.
beemeroo Posted 11 February 2012 Posted 11 February 2012 They were good, only potential bad point was their penalty, I had no idea what it was for and still don't. That and the huge amount of additional stoppage time. Seemed to me it was given for Whittingham pissing around with moving the ball closer to the goal for his freekick.
Guest Col city fan Posted 11 February 2012 Posted 11 February 2012 Wonder why we had a Prem ref today........? He made the game soooooo much better
Bob Weasel Fox Posted 11 February 2012 Posted 11 February 2012 Wonder why we had a Prem ref today........? He made the game soooooo much better Its about bloody time we had a good ref, although as others have pointed out that prob means we get the crap ones again for the next few games Up the Foxes
Corky Posted 11 February 2012 Posted 11 February 2012 He was excellent. Didn't spoil the game, let it flow, didn't wave cards around for the sake of it and also I particularly liked him making the teams take the free-kicks from where the foul was committed, rather than moving the ball forwards 15 yards or so. Got both penalties right (theirs was for a push) and thankfully ignored Miller's dive late on. Halsey is a top ref and showed why.
Langston Posted 11 February 2012 Posted 11 February 2012 His one two with Yuki at Eastlands in the build up to Dyer's goal last year gives him God status in my book. Most competent ref in England by far, let's the game be about the players rather than loving the limelight personally, like Webbe, Clattenberg etc.
Jay Posted 11 February 2012 Posted 11 February 2012 credit were it's due he was in control from the start and had the respect of both teams throughout
ScouseFox Posted 11 February 2012 Posted 11 February 2012 He was very good. Helps that we won, mind. He'd be worse than the devil if their penalty was the winner, not a consolation.
Guest BlueBrett Posted 11 February 2012 Posted 11 February 2012 Would this thread have been started if Cardiff had scored in the 95th minute of 93 I wonder?
Corky Posted 11 February 2012 Posted 11 February 2012 Would this thread have been started if Cardiff had scored in the 95th minute of 93 I wonder? We did take a fair bit of time over throw ins in stoppage time though. However it all worked out fine in the end.
Langston Posted 11 February 2012 Posted 11 February 2012 Would this thread have been started if Cardiff had scored in the 95th minute of 93 I wonder? It took Gallagher about a minute to get off the pitch in the 91st so an extra minute was justified.
Captain... Posted 11 February 2012 Posted 11 February 2012 It took Gallagher about a minute to get off the pitch in the 91st so an extra minute was justified. So where did the other 2 come from, also I thought the rule was a sub meant extra 30 seconds reagrdless.
Bert Posted 11 February 2012 Posted 11 February 2012 So where did the other 2 come from, also I thought the rule was a sub meant extra 30 seconds reagrdless. That passage of time where Pete the cheat tried taking his free kick 5 yards further up the pitch.
