A lot of people are loving Morgan atm but it only takes one or two average games before half the forum get on his back and it will be like "OH WE NEED BAMBA OR MILLS BACK". Mills has had some really good games, just a bit fiesty at times

Rated him highly when I saw him a lot at Reading - obviously we overpaid but I thought he'd step up. There's definitely something good in there but something is missing. The exact text I received said: "The gaffer doesn't rate Mills one bit. It's his contract which is the problem. And he's a big time charlie." It didn't come from a player or member of LCFC staff by the way. I'm not claiming to be "ever reliable" like the mighty Bert (no, I'm not taking the piss Bert) but I get one or two bang on nuggets of info here and there. Wouldn't have said you were! I know you're a good source of information and people should take notice of your posts. (P.S - I've never claimed I'm "ever reliable")

reynard Posted 20 February 2012 Posted 20 February 2012 Pure speculation followed by more pure speculation. Who was responsible for his contract which we all seem to know a lot about? I don't believe Sven sat down and discussed individual contracts with each player. Surely this is done by someone else in the club. I really don't get this correlation between wages and ability/lack of desire etc etc. I bet Messi is on a fair whack and he doesn't look too shabby. Fallen out with the manager? Possibly but this kind of thing happens all the time. Personally I'm prepared to wait and see how things pan out. If he goes to the manager and asks for a transfer and that request is accepted then I'll be prepared to agree with the speculation until then that is what it remains. After all he was dropped by Sven as well and I don't recall suggestions that because of that that Sven didn't rate him. The main problem with him is that he simply isn't worth 5million though I wonder how much the likes of Wolves bid for him?
Bert Posted 20 February 2012 Posted 20 February 2012 Players that we held talks with knew that we'd be offering silly money. Mills was Sven's number one target and wanted him at any cost. Mills knew this and we then lost all power we had. It was either surrender to Mills' demands or not get him. Something which Sven convinced Andrew Neville couldn't happen. We haven't paid £5 million for Mills. That sum includes add ons and one of them was bound to include promotion, which looks unlikely.

I've said from the start I wasn't convinced by him; from what I've seen, he's our fourth best centre back. The question for me is whether Morgan or St. Ledger should partner Bamba (although I'm disappointed it took him so long to get back from the African Nations).

Fair enough, I don't think he should be sold though. All of the defenders, except for Tunchev have a lot to offer the club IMO.
