Langston Posted 18 March 2012 Posted 18 March 2012 I'm going to dig up all of Kitchandro's 'Danns is gash, get rid'-esque quotes from a few months back. The guy has to be one of the first names on the teamsheet now, he was brilliant today, as was the effort of each and every single player, regardless of performance, commitment and character were never in question, the two goals we managed were more than deserved. The second half today gave me great hope that there's enough in this squad to make a real charge next season. We just need to be able to adapt to more than one formation. Overall, chuffed with the application, pleased we gave it a go, and more positives than negatives to take into our next league match. *And each and every fan today was a credit to our club.
sbfox Posted 18 March 2012 Posted 18 March 2012 All depends how you see it.. We've conceded five goals which can't do much for confidence? Im no Megson fan but remember beating Villa away under Megson in the Cup and we all left that night feeling that he'd got his tactics spot on. Fryatt nicking one in the 70th something minute was met with joy. And we were happy to have progressed to the next round... Fair play, Villa that night weren't as good a team as Chelsea, but we weren't expected to beat them. So no, Im not 'delighted' today.. We looked wide open. Bore on... We were never gonna beat Chelsea, at least we gave it a good go.
foxfanazer Posted 18 March 2012 Posted 18 March 2012 You can be as negative as you want. Played our part and didn't disgrace ourselves by any means. Proud to be a leicester fan
Bob Weasel Fox Posted 18 March 2012 Posted 18 March 2012 I wasn't there mate so I can't really judge. But it does sound like we were done for pace? Morgan's Achilles heel? i havent seen too much of Morgan so far but we just dont seem right defensively full stop, i think we need to be much more solid as a unit by next season or promotion is off the menu again
Guesty Posted 18 March 2012 Posted 18 March 2012 Mills back in the side anyone? No, I think we need to pick to 2 CB's and stick to it now. Everytime we lose by more than 2 goals its always because (insert players name) wasn't playing. I think all of them now have been in defence for at least 1 game when we've got hammerd. I'd go with Morgan and St Ledger.
theessexfox Posted 18 March 2012 Posted 18 March 2012 Good game, very open. We were all over the place at the back but always looked a threat. Marshall with a sick goal and Beckford scoring a poachers goal. Danns was superb. Chelsea looked superb today, always looked like they were going to score. Torres HAD to score against us today, and was the best I've seen him. Very similar to Shevchenko a few years back. Vocal fans.
Guest Col city fan Posted 18 March 2012 Posted 18 March 2012 Bore on... We were never gonna beat Chelsea, at least we gave it a good go. Just listen to Pearsons post match interview.. Even he is saying that we were 'very poor' defensively. I thought we would lose 5-0 whilst many were predicting a much closer game. We were wide open which didn't help is the point.
foxfanazer Posted 18 March 2012 Posted 18 March 2012 Oh and what a goal by Marshall. Also danns was superb!
LcFc_Smiv Posted 18 March 2012 Posted 18 March 2012 We went out and attacked Chelsea, we didn't sit back as many teams would of, we gave it a go, at times we cut Chelsea's defense in two with through balls. Our defense looked all over the place and I'm sorry but I put it down to Bamba, he kept trying to step the line up, went missing, and was just generally all over the place. Can't be embarrassed by that, we played our game, whatever you say about Torres it doesn't change the fact he's a world class player, praise to the lads who went to show their support, did us proud!

Shamomoa Posted 18 March 2012 Posted 18 March 2012 Watched the match on espn second half was better than first but the defending was very very poor all game even if it was against chelsea... also im a bit annoyed espn didnt speak to any leicester players or the manager at all after the match it was all chelsea!!! It right p***ed me off! Anyway gd showing from most of the team apart from the defence... Theirs always next season...
yorkie1999 Posted 18 March 2012 Posted 18 March 2012 You were simply outplayed by the better team. All over the place defensively but quite impressive at times going forward. Good to see both Torres and Beckford score. Bamba had a mare which means on here he's shit until his next good game. Kasper had his worst game in what's been a good season for him, needs to be more commanding, then he will be a top keeper. And we didn't spend 700 million quid
cc_star Posted 18 March 2012 Posted 18 March 2012 Mills back in the side anyone? Not for me, Peltier - Morgan - SSL - Konch has been about as good as it gets Mills back in the side anyone? i havent seen too much of Morgan so far but we just dont seem right defensively full stop, i think we need to be much more solid as a unit by next season or promotion is off the menu again Has been fine before today when everyone (inc. him) played an impossibly high line It's not lack of pace either, he bossed it against Norwich & others who are one the fastest teams around & also bossed it for the majority of games this year Without him in the side we get bossed - the team just needs consistency, which will probably take the summer barring a Reading style run
Guest Bilo Posted 18 March 2012 Posted 18 March 2012 Observations: Our defence needs an enormous amount of work. Our fans are absolutely superb on form, the close up of our fans' scarf twirling sent shivers. Danns will be huge for us next season. Beckford can score against anyone with a bit of confidence. Marshall has a foot like a traction engine. Liverpool must have laughed like fvck when Chelsea handed over a £50m cheque for Torres.
cc_star Posted 18 March 2012 Posted 18 March 2012 Bore on... We were never gonna beat Chelsea, at least we gave it a good go. I thought we could get thrashed It turns out we thrashed ourselves by effectively gifting them 5 goals, by not a single defender defending for almost the whole game & Kasper being unusually weak for him
Number 6 Posted 18 March 2012 Posted 18 March 2012 Our 'quick' players looked so slow against Chelsea's - injection of pace needed in the summer.

Guest Posted 18 March 2012 Posted 18 March 2012 Can't believe some of the negative comments in here. I was proud to be Leicester after the game. We got beat, beat well but Chelsea are one of the elite of Europe and they were at the top of their game. They just beat Napoli 4:1 in the champions league. we are mid-table championship. I think the players should be happy with themselves. Not sure how anyone critisizes the defenders who played well but were beaten on occasion by tremendous pace and consummate skill. This was not the Chelsea of 3 weeks ago this was a great Chelsea perfomance. That was Torres against us, not Simon church. And again the fans - WE ARE SPECIAL!

All this nonsense about beating them was exactly that, especially after sacking AVB. However, playing too open was gonna end in tears, which happened unfortunately. Perhaps a more defensive set up may have given us a slighter better chance? All depends how you see it.. I'm a proud City fan but we have just conceded five goals. Anyway, we can now focus on the league.

I agree and am proud but some of the goals we conceded we did gift them with some schoolboy defending. We did put up a good fight though.
mrgarrison16 Posted 18 March 2012 Posted 18 March 2012 DId anyone else watch it on Aljazeeratv? The 2nd commentator was literally laughing when Torres scored and was cheering him on to score a hat trick Fustrating Decent game to watch tho
Guest Col city fan Posted 18 March 2012 Posted 18 March 2012 That's because you're a half empty kind of guy. Not at all... We played ok but as most people on here say, we were outclassed. And didn't help ourselves defensively. Not about half full or half empty.. Just stating a fact.

I certainly enjoyed seeing us have a go, would be a whole lot better than watching us with our backs to the wall for the whole game to lose 2-0.
