dannythefox Posted 18 March 2012 Posted 18 March 2012 If you make a mistake against the top teams they will score we made far to many. When you've got gally, dyer and wellens starting there was always going to be problems.
HEGGSY Posted 18 March 2012 Posted 18 March 2012 How happy were the Chelsea fans when Torres scored TWICE. It was like that actually won the cup Marshalls goal was a touch of class and Beckford did well to score considering the pace at which the ball came to him off the post. Overall it was a truly great day out. 5-2 AND YOU STILL DON'T SING!!
Matt Posted 18 March 2012 Posted 18 March 2012 Disappointed, VERY disappointed, expected us to put a better effort and performance than that, well the season is well and truely over now atleast, and 3 (4 If you include the Charity Shield) potential trips to Wembley this year has turned into 0. I've been in an Facebook arguement with a 'Chelsea fan'. Who reckons we've spent £30 - £40m this year, I said about £15m if that and admitted we'd failed this year, he replied with, everyone knows you only need £10m to get out of the Championship, I left it at that and took the moral high-ground, I have said we need to stick with Nigel, and give him till Christmas at the very least, but for the first time today I feel maybe his time is up, but we must stick with him through the summer and till Christmas to work his magic.
Bugg Posted 18 March 2012 Posted 18 March 2012 Never realised how far out marshall's goal was taken from where I was stood. Cracking goal http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d9Y_MC0p3oU&feature=player_embedded
daddylonglegs Posted 18 March 2012 Posted 18 March 2012 Don't agree with Marshall starting every game at all? He has looked incredibly average on the ball, fantastic goal tho. Danns was brilliant as we're the fans. Beckford had a decent game. All I wanted to see was passion, we saw it.
MC Prussian Posted 18 March 2012 Posted 18 March 2012 Not a single full paragraph about Leicester, it's all Chelsea this, Chelsea that: http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/17330279 The BBC are so biased towards the "big" teams, it's mind-boggling.

Far better than Gallagher though, and at least Marshall's deliveries are quality from corners!!, he just needs time to settle and find his feet here today he showed glimpses of what he can do. Even an average Marshall performance is better than full tilted Gallagher's. No question about who should be starting on the RW.
wakeyfox01 Posted 18 March 2012 Posted 18 March 2012 As for the game, we were beaten by a far better team. I don't think many of our players look "Premier League class" although I did think St Ledger, Danns and Morgan looked decent. I didn't think Wellens had a bad game, but his legs are catching up with him now! Nugent chased everything and nobody else really impressed. As for Gallagher, he is a joke. What game were you watching? You might love the bloke but he had a mare today.
breadandcheese Posted 18 March 2012 Posted 18 March 2012 Chelsea are clearly a cut above us, so it needed us to turn up and try to match them. Sadly, especially in the first half, we had too many players who put in poor performances, which as we saw, gets punished at this level. Our defending was suicidal. I was very disappointed with Bamba's performance today and his individual errors. I was also disappointed that we conceded from two corners. The first was weak defending. The fourth goal was at the other end of the pitch but from my seat looked like a free header from a corner. These are basic errors and goals that we shouldn't be conceding All in all, I'm not too disappointed as it's clear there's a gulf in class between us and Chelsea. You could see this when our players wanted an extra touch on the ball, or extra second when trying to look up and make the pass. Invariably this meant they got tackled. It didn't help that some of our players still seem to have a hard time hitting a corner past the first man (I'm not sure how difficult it is to hit a stationary ball with all the time in the world, but thankfully we now have Marshall to look after this). It's all rather frustrating because once we started having a go in the second half, we caused them a few problems. This could have been a classic cup tie, but individual basic errors in defence, made this in to nothing more than an exhibition match.
General Smuts Posted 18 March 2012 Posted 18 March 2012 Horrible away day. God knows how but I managed to be in the main chelsea end with all of thier singing section. All 20 or so of them. ****ing horrific having to struggle through 5 goals. **** me they love Torres but hate Sturridge. Odd bunch of horrible people. Marshall's screamer looked immense from behind. Knew it was in as soon as he struck it. I celebrated and got some dodgy looks from the ICFHuntersSquad I was surrounded by. Proud of Leicester but never sittting in the home end at an away game ever again. Horrible.

Even an average Marshall performance is better than full tilted Gallagher's. No question about who should be starting on the RW. I would start neither of them! I wouldn't start drinky either. Perfect 11 for me would be Kasper Pelts Bamba Ssl Konch Richie Kingy Danns Schlupp Beckford Nugent
lcfcadam Posted 18 March 2012 Posted 18 March 2012 Now off to focus on the Championship. And the possibility of making the playoffs. Maybe. And the possibility of building a team that can compete for promotion next season...
Happy Fox Posted 18 March 2012 Posted 18 March 2012 I think it would be daft to write us off making the playoffs not saying it is likely but until it is mathematically impossible then we have a chance albeit slim.
MattyFromLE Posted 18 March 2012 Posted 18 March 2012 I don't care that we lost. We didn't embarrass ourselves, fans were loud and proud. We should be proud of today! I had a guy sat behind me ALL game moaning at every given chance. What a waste of money, around £50, to drive 150+ miles round trip, for him to sit and suffer in his own misery. Get up and support your team. Those critical of our players today...we weren't going to win today because Chelsea's front 3 were absolutely unplayable. We scored two decent goals. I love my Leicester.

Corky Posted 18 March 2012 Posted 18 March 2012 Fernando Torres, today, showed what a class act he is. He's now two-thirds of Darius Henderson.
Guest Basildon Fox Posted 18 March 2012 Posted 18 March 2012 I must have watched a different game to most today. If it wasn't for poor finishing from Chelsea in the first 20 minutes it could have been 5 or 6 by then. We do not have enough quality in the team/squad to get out of this division at the moment. Naivety at the back exposed yet again, laboured passing in the midfield and little protection from them for the back 4. Kasper has been immense most of the season but had a mare today too. Imagine what their first team would have done to us. All of this we were playing against a Champions League club so we were always going to lose may be true but it was the manor of the defeat that worries me the most and just highlighted on a grand scale our constant deficiencies holding the team back. To get into the play offs we are going to have to realistically win 8 out of the last 10 games at least. I can guarantee this now that we will get no where near that mark. We need more than a couple of signings or we will be in for a long, hard season again next season and Pearson will be gone by October. The league will be even tougher next season with the teams coming down and the potentially big clubs going up from League 1. I do not usually write negative stuff on here but I think people are kidding themselves if they think that lot has the makings of a good team.

I do agree with a lot of what you say, we need to improve quite a bit, in personnel and tactics. I'm not sure the teams coming down from the Premiership will be great though. Wolves need to appoint a very decent manager because that team has been struggling for a few years most of them are actually pretty average Championship players (Stearman gets in their team fgs). If Wigan go down they'll struggle. Blackburn and QPR may lose a load of their best players and have to rebuild. Nigel needs to get his signings right in the summer, Sven didn't and it was already over for him when the window shut. But I have some faith in Pearson, if not a huge amount.
Jace Posted 18 March 2012 Posted 18 March 2012 Negatives: We are out of the FA Cup Positives: We are now looking strong in center midfield at last Beckford scored again (away goal aswell) Marshall will settle in much better now Schmeichel will not be the big Premiership target in the summer we were worried he may become We can concentrate on the league SSL has learnt not to get smashed on school nights

Danns was excellent going forward but the defence was left exposed time and time again. Chelsea spent most of the match lumping the ball forward to their 4 front men and we couldn't cope. Where were the extra bodies tracking back to help out and defend?
Number 6 Posted 18 March 2012 Posted 18 March 2012 Looking back I would say the most worrying thing about today has to be how far off Chelsea we actually were. We're supposedly a team who had promotion ambitions this season, and would have been competing with the likes of Chelsea had we gone up, yet we looked miles off and all this while playing better than we have at times this season. Don't get me wrong, there were positives, and next year we won't be playing against these players, but we will if we go up and, in my opinion, a promotion chasing team shouldn't be THAT far off competing with the Prem's big boys.

Number 6 Posted 18 March 2012 Posted 18 March 2012 Arsenal won 5-3 at Chelsea. You cant compare for just one game, we beat Noriwch didnt we?! True but if anything I would expect our levels to be raised for a day like today (as they were for Norwich). Not sure what the Arsenal result proves other than maybe Chelsea aren't one of the 'big boys' anymore which only emphasizes my earlier point. I'm not saying I expected us to get a result (I didn't even think we would against Norwich) but Chelsea won that in first gear, and comfortably. EDIT: Apologies, realise you were using that as an exmaple of not reading too much into one result. Although, Arsenal are above Chelsea in the league.

It's incomparable when they've got players who cost more than our entire team. We need the nucleus of a good team functioning team first, then flesh that out with quality, similar to what Southampton have done and will do next season no doubt.

I agree with the point that you are making, though you have to appreciate the fact that Chelsea are one of the top teams in Europe who are rediscovering their quality. We couldn't have played them at a much worse time. If we'd scored the first goal today, perhaps the defence would've been more switched on all the way through. I have to say that at Watford, Bristol CIty, Reading and today our defence has looked far from convincing and it's something we really need to sort out one way or another. On a side note, how f**king ripped is Lloyd Dyer?!
