Not enough sex in this series, but still very watcheable

Do you mean Gay Sex? Renly is not enough?

3) Lack of horses. Again, I get that the budget is tight and they may cost a lot but I feel it really takes away a lot of the epicness and something feels missing when I've barely seen anyone mounted in the whole series. I do get it, it's just a little disappointing.

Lack of talking ravens.

So question for Thrones fans, what is better to read the books or watch the series?

I have not really had any experience of either, but I know by doing one it will spoil the other.

So books or TV series?

As answered before. The books are waaaaaaaaay better than the series unless you need a bit of soft porn to wank to and you don't have imagination.

I do like soft porn and wanking, but I do have a good imagination, anyone argue in favour of the series? I've not read the rest of the thread in case there are any spoilers.

As with 99% of things: Books > film/tv!

I disagree I think whichever you do first spoils the other. The only exception to that was no country for old men, when I loved both but everything else in my experience is the first one always spoils the second.

I disagree, I tend to read most books AFTER I watch something.

A short list of stuff I've watched first: Jurassic Park, Harry Potter, Game of Thrones, Lord of the Rings, Sphere, Running Man, Green Mile, Twilight, Dragonball, Lion witch wardrobe,

Stuff I've read; then watched: time traveller's wife, boy in striped pyjamas, da Vinci code, Angels and demons, Watchmen, Disclosure, Lovely bones,

Plus more I really can't think of; all books were either a bit better, or MUCH better than the programmes!

have to agree books have always been better whether I've watched the film first or not. And sometimes completely different as in Running man that was mentioned (if it was the stephen King/Arnie running man).

I watched season 1 of the tv show first then read the books. I don't feel it ruined anything.

The casting is very good on the show so it happened to transfer images of the characters to the books quite well IMO. Season 1 is better than Season 2 so personally I'd say either watch season 1 then go and start the books or just start reading the books and dig into the tv shows when you've covered the first 2 books.

Not sure how well future books are going to transfer to the screen. There's a lot of writing that contributes only to scheming and character development that is gripping on paper but might not satisfy the shorter attention spans of some of the tv viewers.

As has been said Books are not limited to by budget or time constraints and generally will give you more insight into the thoughts feelings and back storys, I should imagine this is no different

However, I really don't have the time to read 1750 pages telling me a story I in effect already know, so I'm not going to bother lol

It also gets a lot more fantastical (from what I've read so far), so I'd imagine more to spend on the CGI and FX.

Not seen any of them. Do not have the channel to view them as far as I know. Could try the books then DVD if there is any but still have unfinished books around.

Sounds interesting anyway.

I'd give the books a go first. The show is a good supplement but the books are much beefier. You can pick them up for about a fiver each from amazon as well.

Which is the first book?i There is an offer on Amazon but has to be ordered in the next 24 hrs.

A Game of Thrones

I saw A Feast for Crows in a charity shop the other day (having just finished reading it!)
