My sister put off watching this for ages because of the same old bull trotted out by the easily offended masses about it being soft porn on tv, NEWSFLASH you don't have to wank to every bit of genitalia you see.

Not that you can't try.

In any case I was talking to her on the phone the other day and she's now massively hooked - and she's not even the sort of person who likes fantasy per se.

I found it so disappointing compared to the books.

They put a lot of money into it and tried to match the books grandiose style but the books are just too good.

Probably a great series to watch if you HAVEN'T read the books though.

No, it's okay. George RR Martin has quite a bit of input and say in what goes out.

They're political novels and character interaction and development is a key feature. It was always going to be hard to transfer a lot of it to the screen. i think they've done a fantastic job considering the size and and complexity of the world and characters.

I've read up to book 4 so I'm ahead of the tv series, but I often have to pause it to explain what is going on as it is not always clear, it certainly does it justice, but it is not as good as the books and kinda comes unstuck at points where the book would quickly sum up events that have happened the tv series doesn't know whether to cut them completely or make oblique references to things it hasn't really explained, having read the book it all makes sense, but watching it with my girlfriend she gets a little lost.

How many episodes in series 3 I've heard it is covering both part 1 and 2 of book 3?

Just finished book 4, it was kinda frustrating and not as good as the others, in part because of how he split it so half the characters aren't in book four and their stories continue in book 5, but more that of those characters he did use and the new ones, some of them only had about 3 chapters each, and they all introduced lots of new characters so by the time you read the next chapter you had forgotten who all these new characters were, and so much time had passed between chapters that you really didn't care that much.

It will be interesting to see how they tackle it as a tv series, whether they keep all of the character threads going or the same time or stick to it like in the books.

First episode of season 3 was so good.

Set the scene well. The Tyrion-Tywin scene was brutal, great acting from both of them. Natalie Dormer (Margaery) is looking fine as well!

I think next episodes gonna be one of the ones I've been waiting for.
