Simo86 Posted 14 May 2012 Posted 14 May 2012 Transfer Central TNC @TransferNewsCen As reported earlier Alex McLeish will leave Villa What does everyone think? Personally I'd say it's the best for both parties.
Heart-Shaped Fox Posted 14 May 2012 Posted 14 May 2012 If true, i am not surprised. If there had been two or three more games i think they would have gone done
AyewJoking Posted 14 May 2012 Posted 14 May 2012 Didnt see this one coming. Randy Lerner, you've wasted a season and almost relegated the club as a result.
leicesterisme Posted 14 May 2012 Posted 14 May 2012 Not at all surprising. They've been terrible under him this season.
Corky Posted 14 May 2012 Posted 14 May 2012 Bizarre appointment in the first place. Seven wins this season, only Wolves won fewer games.
ScouseFox Posted 14 May 2012 Posted 14 May 2012 Hope they appoint someone even shitter and go down next year.
Out Foxed Posted 14 May 2012 Posted 14 May 2012 And they didn't like it when they had O'Neill! yep, these mugs deserve everything they get.
Jon the Hat Posted 14 May 2012 Posted 14 May 2012 Much easier job for the next guy. Villains will have realistic expectations now!! Right???
Mack Posted 14 May 2012 Posted 14 May 2012 Villa fans make me laugh, actually no, they make me scream. Their expectations are way above the reality the club finds itself in, and given the injuries this season whilst they should have done better we're only talking another 9 points tops. Change after change after change only leads to one thing.
Corky Posted 14 May 2012 Posted 14 May 2012 Man United of the Midlands- without the trophies, fanbase and successful Scottish manager.
Tom17LCFC Posted 14 May 2012 Posted 14 May 2012 Disappointed with this. I was enjoying seeing all my Villa mates distraught every saturday, would've loved them to come down.
AjcW Posted 14 May 2012 Posted 14 May 2012 No sign of the usual Tact and Thanks that usually accompany a managerial dismissal SSN: A statement on the club website read: "Aston Villa can confirm that Alex McLeish's contract has been terminated with immediate effect. "The club has been disappointed with this season's results, performances and the general message these have sent to our fans. "The board wishes to assure supporters that we are conscious in every sense that Villa expects and deserves more and we will strive to deliver this." Villa chairman Randy Lerner said: "We need to be clear and candid with ourselves and with supporters about what we have lacked in recent years. "Compelling play and results that instil a sense of confidence that Villa is on the right track have been plainly absent.
Happy Fox Posted 14 May 2012 Posted 14 May 2012 Why would anyone want to manage that shambles of a club it will be interesting if Di Matteo or Martinez take it we shall see I guess.
Pride_Of_The_Midlands Posted 14 May 2012 Posted 14 May 2012 Get out of Aston. Get out of Birmingham. Get out of the West Midlands. Get out of the Midlands. And never come back.
Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 14 May 2012 Posted 14 May 2012 Man United of the Midlands- without the trophies, fanbase and successful Scottish manager. Let's not dick about - as much as I dislike the sense of delusion that stems from their fans at times, they've won a tonne of bloody trophies.
Jordan Posted 14 May 2012 Posted 14 May 2012 Villa chairman Randy Lerner said: "We need to be clear and candid with ourselves and with supporters about what we have lacked in recent years. "Compelling play and results that instil a sense of confidence that Villa is on the right track have been plainly absent. Randy Lerner hasn't exactly made all of the right moves himself over the last few years. If he wants to be "clean and candid," he could hold his hand up and admit that the club could have been run a bit better during this time. The fans could smell something fishy about the whole McLeish situation from the start.
Fox92 Posted 14 May 2012 Posted 14 May 2012 Feel a bit for him. He never had the fans support from day one, deep down. To move from Birmingham City to Aston Villa, especially in those circumstances with Birmingham just going down, was never going to make him a liked manager. Ok, Villa have had some poor results, with a few bad injuries (Bent for example) but how can he do something with Villa in a year? Ok, if they are in the same position next season, or at Christmas, think about it but I don't 100% agree with this decision. That said, Aston Villa are a big club with a good/big fanbase, and there expectations will be high. But they didn't seem to be satisfied with Martin O'Neill!

LCFC_FAN_1995 Posted 14 May 2012 Posted 14 May 2012 Could see this one coming, Aston Villa have been awful this season, to be fair they haven't been that good since O'Neill left. Martinez is favorite to be the new manager but he didn't leave last season to be the manager and I can't see him leaving. Paul Lambert, Alan Curbishley or Gus Poyet would be the three who could be manager in my opinion.

And he has been recently linked with Liverpool.
Guest Bilo Posted 14 May 2012 Posted 14 May 2012 Martinez will go to Liverpool, he'd be mad not to given the fact that Wigan will only ever battle relegation. I'd expect Lambert to go to Villa now, but he'll have a lot of work to do.
