Just started Snowfall, which i know many here have/are watching.

If you are interested, it is loosly based in truth....and on this book...

Can't believe what I just watched. (I sadly actually can).

God Only Knows being absolutely destroyed and winning The Voice.

Putting emotion into a song isn't just about belting it out and wailing.

I was expecting less but got more. Very good.

And Sophie Turner is HOT!!!

Sophie Turner's ITV drama confirms release date

I think she looks hotter playing someone from the 80's. Suits her

Chimp Crazy on Sky, same director as Tiger King and very much in that vein.  Really sad the way the US government does not protect such exotic animals and they can be kept by people with severe mental health issues.

anybody watched Showtrial season 2 BBC drama?

really good and well acted by the main two characters but couldn't help after episode 2 it got a bit "samey"?

Very current topic being about police corruption and global warming/ climate genocide protests

I remember reading a few years ago about the poor women who literally had her whole face ripped off and survived. every attack i read about involving chimps seem horrific.

Yeah, both seasons were very good IMO.

Yeah man, posted a couple of pages back – I thought it was crap despite Michael Socha being fantastic as per and doing his best to carry it. Adeel Akhtar was decent too.

But some of the other acting was hammy at best, some really 2D characters and a few threads that I simply didn't care about that either lead nowhere and/or were of very little consequence. The prosecution's relationship with her sister being one, really boring and poorly acted subplot that I had no investment in.

Yeah, I also started watching after the recommendations on here. It’s really good.

I do agree. Some people are impressed with vocal gymnastics that are too overwrought.

Surprised at the love for Sweetpea, thought it was absolute s**t.  Do suspect this is a case of being familiar with the literature it's based on and finding it a disappointing adaptation rather than watching it in isolation where I can see how it'd be enjoyable.

Slightly Off topic but still kinda related.

I'm in the market for a new (BIG) TV. Went to decide between the 98" Samsung 90D and the 85" Samsung 900D, Both NEO QLED with the latter being the Samsung signature TV for 2024 which upscales 4k to 8k. Wasn't overly impressed with the 90D but it could be just what they were showing on the screen and was maybe a little too big afterall.

But having a look around at other TV's I could not stop noticing LG OLED screens and their vivid deep colours and sharp blacks and having been given differing opinions from 2 different store assistants it's now thrown a spanner in the works as to what I thought I had decided on.

One store guy told me the Samsung QLED was the best natural looking picture you could get right now but another said the LG OLED was much better due to its rich vivid colours and picture. Both TV's were showing different looped videos so it was confusing on how to decide the differences.

I know I'm bound to get the differing views as above on a forum such as this but what are peoples thoughts on QLED v OLED or Samsung v LG? Not for gaming but general TV watching/sport.

Cheers

For general TV stuff then you can't beat an OLED.

For gaming/PC use I'd have QLED every day of the week.

Cheers for that The Bear,

It's becoming a bit of a minefield out there.

Keep telling myself that the best quality today will soon be surpassed by tomorrows tech but I'm slowly wading thro the acronyms of the TV's I've narrowed it down to. HDR10+ is a new one on me which I'm looking into.

That's always been the case since TVs were a thing. Always something newer and better coming in the next year or two. You just buy the best you can afford at the time. Plus nowadays 8K isn't realistically anywhere close to being a thing, so 4K OLED is the best there'll be for a while yet IMO.

HDR10+ is basically another version of Dolby Vision, but another spec standard. Both adjust the HDR information frame by frame. DV still looks better IMO as it's 12 bit vs 10 bit for HDR10+.
