Can't argue with that list, Pearson knows what he's doing. ;)

This... They had had their time at the club and needed releasing.

Disappointed to see Vassell leaving, but with new signings etc...and his injury forcing him more out of the side, it is sad he has left but not a surprise.

Right call on the other players aswell, past there sell by date.

I've heard a rumour that he's all ready holding talks with a couple of clubs one I believe is Charlton and the other Notts County. One website claims he could be heading to the MLS!

Hmmm, I wonder where he might end up? It would be interesting to find out what everyone thinks. If only someone would start a poll....

lol how many forwards do people think we need?! Nuge, Beckford, Vardy, Schlupp, Waghorn (Hopper and Paney....). Surely ample.

We need more. Nugent and Beckford are the only ones with who would be classed as anything near proven in this division. Vardy is a completely unknown entity. Schlupp is very young and can't be relied up on to perform every week just yet. Waghorn has been hit miss over the last two years, and Hopper and Paney are kids. What would happen if Nugent or Beckford were injured? What if they lose form? We have no other real option. I like Schlupp and think he'll become a great player, but to rely on him as our next option after Nugent and Beckford will never get us promoted. We need another Championship quality striker, a Roberts, a Chopra, or dare I say a Fryatt.

Vassell was fine. But i'm not okay with "fine" anymore. We have to do everything to get us to the prem asap and I don't think Vassell is good enough to lead us there! Good decision from NP and I hope the players released to well, I liked them all pretty much.

Vassels's wages would be too high?

He was out of contract, we could have offered him whatever we liked, I can't imagine that Charlton or Notts C would offer him much.

Or Maynard

(I expect someone from the Mirror to pick up on that)

Or Heskey

I liked Vassell and enjoyed watching him play - always looked to have class, but didn't spend long enough being fit. Shame, and I'm disappointed but not surprised to see him leave.

It'll be interesting to see if we sign any players outside the young and hungry mould... surely we need some maturity and experience around the squad?

off the wage bill, happy days. writing was on the wall v kettering. wish he'd been fit for the season, he wasn't...bye bye

Can't believe how gutted people are at Vassell.

Average at best. We really can do better.

I'd like to think we have done in Vardy.

MattP on the money as usual for me.

Logan will never leave.

EVER

No doubt he will become the new goalkeeping coach when he hangs up his boots after a long and illustrious career with us. :D :D

Shame about Vassell, I thought that he had plenty to offer whenever I saw him play. If it hadn't been for the injury, ...

Oakley... well, a Steve Howard case. Good servant to the club, but getting on the older side of things, not dynamic enough for the Championship. I hope he continues to play, maybe he can hook up with Big Steve at Notts County?

Tunchev will most likely return to his native Bulgaria.

Don't know why Chamberlain was released, didn't he have potential?

As for Weale... All the best at a lower league club. I bet Yeovil are already waiting.

Mixed feelings really. Vassell - really not sure about this one, his touch is absolute unreal, but, other parts of his game lack. He'll go to another Championship club no doubt. Oakley, Howard - agree with these, and Weale to an extent. Tunchev also, is a shame as he showed some promise against Forest, Chamberlain, other than being a whingy git on FM, i have no idea who he is!

No real surprises.Logan is back up GK,probably on the basis he is a known quantity.Bearing in mind NP did not name a GK sub, if KS is out injured a GK could be loaned,as in L1 season.

Gutted about Vassell.

Really hope we sign a new back up keeper so we're not stuck with Logan.

Logan will need to be offered a new contract then.

Logans contract runs out this summer but I'm guessing he may be offered a new one as he's not on the released list and is currently on tour with the youth squad.

Weale - Correct decision. Looks out of his depth every time he takes to the field for us now, confidence shattered (although who's wouldn't be after they were dropped for Carl Ikeme ffs). Wish him the best.

Howard - Correct again. Out of his depth at this level now and could probably do a job in League One. Notts County wouldn't be a horrendous move for him.

Tunchev - Correct. Probably the one that disappoints me the most but not the fact that he's leaving, the fact he's turned out like this. Failed to really recover after a horrendous injury. Career totally spoiled. Absolutely typical because he was a class above.

Vassell - The main talking point. I agree with the decision. I bet he's on at least £10k a week, injury prone, 32 year old journeyman. Not a terrible player but anyone who seriously thinks we can't do better than him has got absolutely no ambition and I can only be thankful you aren't in charge. I wish him luck because he was far from a disgrace but he's just the definition of mediocre.

Chamberlain - Top scorer for youth before? Never given a chance really but there's a reason. Correct decision.

Oakley - Thought he'd already gone in honesty. Correct decision and probably a lower L1 midfielder now.

As for Pantsil and Moussa before, Pantsil was the correct decision before, he was on stupid money I'd assume and for what? Nothing, pretty much. Moussa is a talented player but just doesn't really get a chance for us.

Like many others here, I'm very disappointed about Vassell having to leave. He offered something a bit different I think and could definitely have been an asset next season.

Good luck to all.

Calling Vassell a journeyman is a bit harsh - he's only had four clubs in his career! Tony Cottee once did that in one season and Trevor Benjamin probably managed it in one afternoon!

Not really bothered about any of them, they are all second string players. It will hopefully make room in the dressing room and squad for some quality players, and those already signed up, that can add weight to the first team's promotion efforts.

In these days, a club cannot hang on to players as all wages are high and these costs need to be released for the new guys.

Lets face it the players are the machinery in the LCFC Factory, when it's old and worn out, there is only so often it is economical to carry out repairs and replacement becomes the only option.

I am glad that the club is taking this line.
