Babylon Posted 18 May 2012 Posted 18 May 2012 Six players will be leaving Leicester City upon the completion of their existing contracts this summer. Elliott Chamberlain, Steve Howard, Matt Oakley, Aleksandar Tunchev, Darius Vassell and Chris Weale have not been offered extensions to their current deals, which expire on June 30. The Club would like to place on record its thanks to all six players for their hard work and professionalism during their time in City blue and wish them well in the future.
cc_star Posted 18 May 2012 Posted 18 May 2012 Good luck to all, yes there's a hard luck story surrounding Vassell's situation personally I think he had something to offer the squad & even the first team, but... well, we're going a different way now.
Mark_w Posted 18 May 2012 Posted 18 May 2012 All I'd say have generally benefited the club during their time at Leicester, hope they do well.
m00nie Posted 18 May 2012 Posted 18 May 2012 thought vassell would have been a decent squad player to keep.. not fussed on the others ( but thanks for your service)... still hoping we sell a couple others also.
Hitesh Posted 18 May 2012 Posted 18 May 2012 Interesting to see Vassell on the list, but no surprises elsewhere. Will be interesting to see which new keeper we get in.
LCFC FOX Posted 18 May 2012 Posted 18 May 2012 All I'd say have generally benefited the club during their time at Leicester, hope they do well. Please tell me what Elliot Chamberlain did?
Will1981 Posted 18 May 2012 Posted 18 May 2012 glad Vassell has gone no doubt he was on silly money wages, never impressed me at all.
leicesterisme Posted 18 May 2012 Posted 18 May 2012 Not surprising at all, Vassell was ok but we can do better. Dosen't really dissapoint me much to be honest.

Leicester Lass Posted 18 May 2012 Posted 18 May 2012 Vassell must be to do with wages. Real shame, I think he still had a lot to offer.
Guest MattP Posted 18 May 2012 Posted 18 May 2012 Excellent news, none of these players are capable of being in a side in the top two. Cannot believe anyone is upset at seeing Vassell go, an injury prone, expensive 32 year old who best days are long gone, why on earth would you give him a new deal?
ScouseFox Posted 18 May 2012 Posted 18 May 2012 Fair enough. We move on, Howard, Vassell, maybe even Oakley would have been on decent wages. Tunch was always going due to injuries, Chamberlain wasn't ever going to get a game and Weale is shite. Barring Vassell who could've done a job as a squad player (but maybe he was on first team player wages) all sensible decisions.
Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 18 May 2012 Posted 18 May 2012 Cheers for that second half against Forest at home last November Darius. Bit gutted he's gone.
RonnieTodger Posted 18 May 2012 Posted 18 May 2012 Gutted about Vassell. Really hope we sign a new back up keeper so we're not stuck with Logan.
Bettsj2 Posted 18 May 2012 Posted 18 May 2012 Gutted about Vassell. Really hope we sign a new back up keeper so we're not stuck with Logan. Logan will never leave. EVER
brookfox Posted 18 May 2012 Posted 18 May 2012 Not that bothered about Darius tbh. I reckon we're looking at forwards next year of Nuge, Waghorn, Vardy, Schlupp plus a new target man (possibly on loan) and I can't see a place for either him or Howard amongst this bunch.

Danno Posted 18 May 2012 Posted 18 May 2012 Cheers for that second half against Forest at home last November Darius. Bit gutted he's gone. That beauty at Hull last season! Great goal. And that peach of a cross for Abe vs Brighton.
