Shrewsbury Match Exhortations

We were terrible today, and a vast improvement is needed FAST.I think the main thing is either SSL or ZW to secure the centre of defence then LM can play his preferred RB position.I agree we need a left sided midfield player urgently as LD is a squad player at best.A back up CB like HM would be good, and any further new players need to be in ASAP to allow the players to reach match fitness before the Peterborough game.

What types of players and who are we missing? A good left winger and a physical ball winner is all we're lacking in my opinion. Strikers will be fine, Marshall is shit hot and the defence and goalie are up to it too.

We don't have a physical ball winner but we also don't have a main source of creativity. Instead of having all these box to box midfielders (King, Danns, Drinkwater, James, Wellens - they're all much of a muchness with Danns being the stand out) the main objective should have been to secure a creative midfielder, I can't see Pearson signing Koren or a player that offers this with the abundance of average central midfielders already at the club,

Dyer needs replacing ASAP but again, can't see Pearson doing it. It's effort and endeavour over class now.

Nine out and ten in since the end of last season.

Thanks to those in this thread who have made generous comments about Town today. Nigel Pearson is a Town legend and so I hope you do well under his management. :)

Was half expecting a Shrewsbury > Leicester post, so i am glad there isnt one here.

With no disrespect to the Shrews, many of our fans need to realise that these results are extremely common in pre-season. Birmingham, Cardiff, Forest and Derby are 4 teams off the top of my head which have already lost to lower league opposition. After so long without competitive football players lose sight of the ability required to beat teams which are considered 'smaller' than themselves.

It is all well and good mentioning the newcastle and leyton orient scoreline, especially when you look at the players who played.

Krul, Taylor, coloccini, enrique, barton etc. all play regular premier league football.

We have lost today but we will have learnt a lot more from todays game than the 4-1 against hinckley. It is a good thing to lose a game in pre-season, otherwise players may be unable to handle the pressure if we lost the first game of the season.

It's a friendly, and an early pre season one at that.

Now's the time for Pearson to formulate his preferred 11 and system.

If we are still mis-firing come mid August then will be the time for concern, not now.

For fooks sake, is it too much effort to type in the players names, honestly its like reading a bloody text.

Chris Weale didn't come on either, real shame that.

Also see his brother is competing in the Olympics in the Pentathlon

No need to panic the main season starts in about 14 days and yes this was a pre season game where there are winners, and losers looks like only two players turned up according to bert so nothing much changed from last season . Still we can revert back to a midfield of gally dyer wellens and king and at least have a giant up front to hoof the ball to

I go away on holiday for a week and completely cut myself off from the goings on at Lcfc and I come back to no movement in the transfer market and a 2-0 loss to Shrewsbury.

lol

Where's my season ticket? Can't wait for the season start...

Back to reality with a bump. A rather large bump at that.

only thing will say vardy is mental quick and will scare the def in the championship ( think would look better alongside nugent)

our Def looked shakey and very quiet ( kasper talked )

danns good workrate but not much else same for james

BIGGEST things for me are we scared to shoot and we NEED BIG style 2 pacey wingers who can create chances for themselves and the team and can cross.

But im not panicing as is only Pre-season

We will not get promoted with Dyer starting games.

It's as simple as that.

He's only any good as an impact player in the 2nd half if we need some pace. He doesn't offer anything better than pace - that's all he has in abundance, his consistency at beating his man regularly or putting in a decent cross is wayward at best.

The result means nothing the performance by all accounts was shocking and it's this more than anything that concerns me.

It's gotta get better, quickly...

Shame their isn't a superman or flap at crosses sport in the games so they could have shared a room

I'm so glad I've been sat in a pub garden all afternoon, think some folk need to take a chill pill...... it's a meaningless pre season friendly!

You'd still expect them to be able to pass or create a chance or two.

Yeah granted, but maybe it's given NP some answers about how certain combinations work out or don't, as those who have been today are saying.i was commeenting on those about to throw themselves off a clff Bert lol

Bolton drew with Crewe

Cheltenham beat Birmingham

Mansfield beat Forest

Luton beat Ipswich

Losing today may well be a good thing in the long run - massive wake up call for some

Cant see NP continuing taking 20 odd players to each friendly from here on in - he will have made his mind up about 1 or 2 of the squad already me thinks

Derby beat Burton 1 nil today so will be interesting to see how we fare on Weds

Looking forward to Shrewsbury, probably the only pre-season game I'll go to.

Good choice, huh? :(

No need to panick. They not exactly bothered about scoring in friendlies. We just trying to play nice football and get as much fitness as possible. Plus the best striker at the club is back Wednesday
