Father Ted Posted 11 August 2012 Posted 11 August 2012 So exciting. Especially having two wingers in Marshall and Knockaert who attack with purpose, skill, pace and can cross and shoot. Both have great futures and it really shows how much we've been lacking with that clown Gallagher on the wing. And I'm also quite sure that this won't just be a Zsolt Laczko flash in the pan.
kingfox Posted 11 August 2012 Posted 11 August 2012 I knew everyone would be creaming themselves over this lad, and rightly so in part, he has a trick and no lack of skill. Just to put that in check a little, he lost the ball to them right on the edge of our area from which they nearly scored and made the mistake of taking the piss out of a couple of their players with multiple step overs. In The Championship they will get you tagged, and if you react........... For me this lad will be an exiting impact player to come on when we are chasing a game. If he can get his defensive duties up to scratch and concentrate on keeping his antics in perspective he will become a huge asset for our squad. Good point, very right Mack. Like I said on the match thread, he did give the ball away in some dangerous areas early on, I actually thought what the hell are you doing. Then he got the ball and ran at players then your eyes light up, he is very very dangerous going forward and I wouldn't like to defend against him. His defensive side got better as the half went on, but maybe because he didn't spend that long on the ball, unlike when he gave it away, he held onto the ball too long. His confidence grew though and he looked very impressive, Marshall, Dyer and Knockaert will be seriously dangerous, if they all play consistently well this season.
Jakemoore Posted 11 August 2012 Posted 11 August 2012 How do you say his name? Is it knock-heart? Or knock-ert? I know it's spelt knockaert but I don't really know how it's pronounced

Every player on the pitch made a sloppy pass at some point today. I think it's a bit harsh to judge him on that. He got tagged because he was simply too good for them and got past his marker or markers with ease. The niggle from them was there before the step over piss take.
Lesta Legend Posted 11 August 2012 Posted 11 August 2012 Good point, very right Mack. Like I said on the match thread, he did give the ball away in some dangerous areas early on, I actually thought what the hell are you doing. Give the lad a break first proper appearance on home turf, nerves etc it's expected.... as the game went on he grew in confidence As you say he will be very dangerous for us, amongst others too, excited ain't the word.... Touch wood stays injury free
Ozwin Posted 11 August 2012 Posted 11 August 2012 I loves how he was hugging and high fiving everyone on both sides. He looks like he's loving it here.

I really liked his attitude, more than happy to get stuck in and track back. He's going to ruffle a few feathers, just hope he doesn't react to it.

Didn't show any signs of it today, it's nice to see that despite being an obviously talented young kid he doesn't appear to be the type to react and it looks like he's more than willing to put a shift in for the team. It's only pre-season, but the lad really does look class. He certainly wound quite a few Sunderland players up though.
blueharmie Posted 11 August 2012 Posted 11 August 2012 What a jizz fest. He's played one game. We all thought mills was a 5mil John terry. Keep it real.
Fox92 Posted 11 August 2012 Posted 11 August 2012 How do you say his name? Is it knock-heart? Or knock-ert? I know it's spelt knockaert but I don't really know how it's pronounced Anthony himself confirmed that it's pronounced K-nock-a-ert (no silent K, you enhance it). I am pleased we will have two good wingers on either side. It's been a long time!
Mark_w Posted 11 August 2012 Posted 11 August 2012 I should also point out that today I thought Beckford looked pretty good, certainly benefited from starting alongside Vardy (As I understand Nugent has so far). Just a shame he couldn't get onto those couple of balls from Vardy, that's the sort of service people were calling for him to get so he'll have no excuses if he doesn't do it for us this year. I'd still move him on because I'd suggest Vardy/Nugent look better and would be very uncomfortable with someone recieving the wages he's on in the Championship especially if they're sitting on the bench as I think he should be, that said I certainly think he looks better with a different strike partner. Edit: Wrong thread, oh well they all become Beckford threads eventually.

Touch wood stays injury free I am just saying what I saw. The main point is though, he looked very dangerous when going forward, if we are going to keep seeing that this season, full-backs are going to hate defending against him.
Happy Fox Posted 11 August 2012 Posted 11 August 2012 Keep Beckford getting rid of him would be a waste on our part he will score goals with the service from Midfield now we have players willing to run with the ball and attack the opposition i.e Vardy, Knockaert and Marshall.
blueharmie Posted 11 August 2012 Posted 11 August 2012 U lot are creaming yourselfs over this guy. Wtf.
Babylon Posted 11 August 2012 Posted 11 August 2012 U lot are creaming yourselfs over this guy. Wtf. Probably because he was good. I'm sure everyone is aware it's only one game in a meaningless friendly.
LCFC FOX Posted 11 August 2012 Posted 11 August 2012 Got some skill and pace on him. This is the guy that could make our season a success
fox ache Posted 11 August 2012 Posted 11 August 2012 This guy looks the real deal. With him and Marshall out wide we are in for some excitement. this
Fox1994 Posted 11 August 2012 Posted 11 August 2012 Saw him at the train station after the game. Me and about a dozen other fans got a picture with him. He seemed a nice lad although he couldn't speak a word of english!
Ozwin Posted 11 August 2012 Posted 11 August 2012 Saw Danns in the new Sparr petrol station in Aylestone as I was buying my Subway. Bloke's a beast.
Lesta Legend Posted 11 August 2012 Posted 11 August 2012 The main point is though, he looked very dangerous when going forward, if we are going to keep seeing that this season, full-backs are going to hate defending against him. Agreed 4 once
AKCJ Posted 11 August 2012 Posted 11 August 2012 Saw Knockaert prematch and he wouldnt stop smiling. Did his pictures and autographs with the kids and looke a real top bloke. Excited to see how he gets on, he looks a talent. Also, good management of M'ON to bring Catermole off before he earnt himself a lifetime ban haha Anthony knows how to wind the opposition up.
Guest Col city fan Posted 11 August 2012 Posted 11 August 2012 He's the sort of player who gets a crowd to their feet. This can be great as long as it continues because the crowd feeds the player and vice verca. However, let's not get carried away. Hes still very young and, as such, will be prone to lapses of concentration and dips in form. If he goes on to put in a couple or three bad performances it's crucial that the crowd don't get on his back because this may likely affect him. We gotta nurture what is undoubtedly a raw talent. If my memory serves me rightly, even the great Cristiano Ronaldo had off games during his early years under Sir Alex. But Ferguson took his time with him, rested him when necessary and adopted a low key profile as much as he could. We need to do the same with this lad. Done correctly we could have a prodigious talent on our hands.
