Whatever you say...

At risk of driving this thread way off topic to accomodate your deliberate obtuseness, there are indeed Albanians living in Montenegro. I, myself, know and work with several people that are Montenegrin by nationality but Albanian by ethnicity (and who tend to identify more with Albanian culture, but support the Montenegrin national team more, of course, not least because they're a whole lot better). They (and/or their immediate families) emigrated to the United States after living in what is now within the borders of Montenegro for generations, and still have plenty of family there.

On the other side of the Atlantic, Ecuador will be pissed off that Valencia got himself a stupid second yellow for mouthing off to the ref right before full time in their 1-1 draw at suddenly-floundering Uruguay. This rules him out of Ecuador's next game, a pivotal game vs. Chile. I'd bet Sir Alex cracked a smile when he found out about that, though.

I'm not stupid, I know that area of Europe like the back of my hand. They are still Albanians, they are not Montenegrins. They may be from Montenegro, but they will never class themselves as proper Slavic Montenegrins. I originally come from Croatia, but I'm not Croatian, I'm a Serb. As for them supporting the national team... highly surprises me.. all Serbs I know from Croatia and Bosnia support Serbia and all muslims I know from Serbia/Croatia support Bosnia...

Yeah, OK.

It helps to read what someone actually writes or says before responding, else you'll wind up sounding like Mitt Romney.

Ethnic anomisities in the Balkans still have nuance, no?

I'm not going to pretend I'm more well-versed in Slavic and Albanian ethnic identity than you, but I think I've got a half-decent grasp of this issue.

What else is new?

Yeah, Fletcher acted the cunt a couple of years back, but still - he was more than happy to give McGregor a second chance after him and Ferguson went off on one. The bloody geography teacher needs to swallow his pride and at least pick a half decent striker rather than Kenny fucking Miller.

If he has really knocked Fletcher back surely they'll have him out the door within a couple of weeks.

Ryan Shawcross, Aaron Lennon, and Fraser Forster all called up. Glad to see Shawcross get the nod, whether he gets to play or not is a different story.

Pretty pleased with the squad as a whole. Shawcross has merited a call up before now. Glad that he's finally got one, hopefully he can prove himself now.

Shawcross is more suited to the Six Nations. Are England really that short of central defenders? :(

If Hodgson was going to pick a Stoke player, he should have brought Peter Crouch back.

You know full well that this England squad isnt full of world beaters. We need to do what Germany did a few years ago, what Brazil have been and are doing at the moment - Retreat, regroup and restart. We are hideously behind the rest of the football world, in almost every aspect.

Shawcross, Cahill, Jagielka and Lescott are the 4 centre backs. Shawcross is only 24 and Cahill cant be too far from that. Given a couple of years of international experience, and European (in Cahills case), and they could develop in do good quality international defenders. The same can go for both Jones and Smalling, if anyone ever sees them again.

Finners, why has Coleman taken the captaincy from Ramsey and given it to Ashley Williams?

Is it results based?

Because he's desperate and doesn't have a clue what else to do to inspire change.

That said, I think Williams is a more natural leader and Ramsey may do better without the burden.

Equally, though, Ramsey may just feel jilted - he was certainly one of our few good performers with the armband on.

You have to doubt what Roy is doing.

Garth Crooks asks a pertinent question, given the current form of the player discussed.

Come on Roy, sort it out.

You would think this guy tries to do it delibrately the amount of times he makes himself look a twat.

I would have gone with Joe Hart - best in goalie in the world, bang in form and a decent guy to boot.

On the other hand there's Wayne Rooney. I wish him the best obviously but part of me thinks that he's lucky there's a dearth of decent strikers as by rights he's done nothing to even warrant a place in the team.

I can only guess that by giving him the responsibility of being captain hodgson is hoping to get something out of Rooney. His performances at the euros certainly don't warrant him being promoted. He was by far the worst player on the pitch in both games. If you didn't know his story you'd wonder why on earth he was anywhere near the England team. I think he probably should have been dropped and giving him the captaincy for such an easy game is a mistake.
