Let's Have a Statement From The Thais About Pearson's Job Being Safe

I'm more concerned about Nige's reaction to it all, regardless of what the owners do want if he isn't being treated right then if a way out i.e. aother club is offered then he make take it.

It is easy to dismiss it all as media hype but it's a story that's not going away despite our current position and form.

Can we stop comparing chalk with cheese please!!!!!

SAF is extremely media friendly - he gives good frank open interviews and justifies his decisions openly.

He's also won how many Premierships / Cups?? They give him the right to occasionally give short shrift to a stupid question.

Open and Frank..oh yes, like the time he told the media that Rooney was injured, then Rooney came out and said he wasn't. I didn't know that if you won the league and a few cups then that gives you the right to give the media short shrift! Besides, it's only stringer that Pearson gives short shrift too.

As I see this, the owners want the highest profile they can get for the club for financial reasons, NP lets himself down by not being a media man, being on the Radio and TV as much as possible where the KING POWERS name keeps coming up, for example, we very rarely get a mention on Talk Sport, and minor reports in the national press, ask yourself why, even when we have climbed to the top of the Championship, NP must keep LCFC in the football news and on peoples lips all the time and not just here in Leicester.

They brought him back after sacking media friendly Sven. They knew exactly the type of guy he was. I cant believe for one minute that his media manner was a key requirement.

Rubbish!!

The best way, by far, to raise the profile of the club is to play in the Premier League and Pearson is the best man to get us there. I'm not saying that because I believe he is the best manager in the World or even in England but because he has already set the wheels in motion and anyone else would need time to get a settled side of their own and to settle into the club. Time will tell if he can do it but he deserves this season, at the very least, to see if he can. A win at the weekend would make it very difficult for the owners to make any changes and still being here after the International break should put an end to the Redknapp story. I personally think the story is just being recycled now anyway but I'm not sure what Nige will make of his agent speaking on TalkSport, I hope he asked him first.

Never dull being a Leicester fan. As I said they do not even have to deny being in contact with Redkapp. Just release a statement expressing their delight at our run of form at present under the management of Pearson. Job done. No more need for speculation.

It strikes me that their silence speaks volumes to what has gone on. Not good, especially with the International break coming up...

Exactly. They don't have to necessarily admit to anything, but even if they've not spoken to anyone they must be aware of the rumours, and if the fans and even the manager are unsure of whether he has their support, its something that needs addressing.

I'm not getting that excited about this. As far as I can see, it is a nothing story getting a little media hype and a shedload of Foxestalk hype.

Maybe the Thais haven't commented because they don't know about it?

Maybe the Thais did consider a change when we had lost 3 out of 5 games at the beginning?

Maybe the Thais know about it but are giving it the respect it deserves and ignoring it?

As far as I can see, there is not a shred of evidence anything untoward has happened. Different media outlets are picking up on a non-story at different times and this is why it keeps resurfacing.

We could, at best, make ourselves look very silly by making a massive point of this on Saturday. We could, in the worst case scenario, do lasting damage to the fan's relationship with the owners over unsubstantiated rumours.

Firstly, I have no relationship with the owners. They've never done anything for me as a fan and I couldn't care less what they think of us as a group.

Who are we making ourselves look silly to? We're hearing rumours and they're starting to spread. The fans will obviously start to speculate and may be a bit concerned, especially with our track record with managers.

Besides, I expect that the main result of all this is that our supporters respond in a positive way and vocally back the manager an extra 20%, which can only be a good thing. Even if there were chants of 'Thais out' which I think is very unlikely, they probably won't be there to hear them.

I consider it significant in the grand scheme of things that neither the fans nor the manager trust the owners. This means not only do we have a poor relationship with them, but Nigel does too.

He will have spoken about it with Pearson's permission, perhaps even on his instruction. Look at the reaction it's all got. Fans coming out in support of Pearson, publicising the great job he is doing. He has just made it a lot more difficult for the owners to sack him, if indeed they had plans to do so. They will be utterly discredited if they sacked him now. His agent's piece may even prompt a statement of support from the owners, meaning they look even sillier if they sack him later on. This to me has all the hallmarks of Pearson firming up his own position. He has played a blinder, here.

It gives you job security .... when you're the best manager in modern football history. But even then he treats the media with respect and answers their questions instead of trying to make the interviewer look a dick.

Has there been any more news on this or is it still just speculation? I cba to trawl through 5 pages.

http://www.espn.co.uk/football/sport/story/173355.html

"None whatsoever, not a chance," Redknapp told Sky Sports News. "Mark Hughes is a top manager, I have heard nothing from anybody. I had the same thing last week, I picked up the paper to see I am going to Ipswich because I know the chairman - I'm not going to Ipswich.

"The next thing I am going to Leicester. I have never had any contact with anybody at Leicester. They are flying - Nigel Pearson is doing a great job at Leicester. I don't know where it comes from - somebody makes the story up."

Thanks, what's everyone's reaction been to this?

Article just been written. Saw it on another forum and no-one had posted it here. I'd been thinking of signing up for a while now so thought I'd join and post this.

Does seem to be positive news though. Or can we believe him?

That was my first thought, can't imagine he'll be happy if not.

Good post BTW, pretty much mirrors my own thoughts entirely.

Tough to say, undoubtedly distanced himself but I imagine if all things are rosey he would turn around and say "yeah and the min no loses he's gone and ill be in"

Could be correct and be a nothing story which is what I hope but who knows.. There's too much noise from NPs side for it to be a non story for me.

Finally!

I waited for nearly 3 hours this afternoon, watching SSN to see what he actually said. If this is indeed what he said then it's the end of the matter as far as I'm concerned.

The whole story was made up. Could and should have been nipped in the bud sooner IMO.

Redknapp is definitely known for his honesty, it's true.

Maybe not, but I seriously doubted he would want this job in the first place. He wasn't bothered about the Forest job, which is quite similar is size and location either.

Lets face it, outside of Leicester we are not number one on everyone's list of perfect jobs. That and the fact he wont move house, I'm pretty sure that there is nothing in this now.

If there was something in it I think he would have been a bit more cagey about it.

Nope, it's over as far as I'm concerned, now lets concentrate on beating Bristol!

Posted

I don't think it has ever been on. I mean, the owners may have made some sort of contact after four or five games of the season, but I doubt he'd seriously consider coming here.

Well Redknapp's response is a decent and respectable one but the sad thing is you can't even be sure if it's true.

I really am sick of this though, we really are the countries biggest circus club - name me one that's a bigger media joke? Leeds at a push.

I'm concerned because there's half-decent reason to believe the Thais have spoken to him, even if they have changed their mind - who's to say they won't make more rash decisions? I didn't disagree with Sven or Sousa's sackings but they were pretty controversial moves either way.

I'm afraid I have lost faith in our owners. We've sold ourselves to people who plaster a company no fvcker over here has ever heard of all over the place, put in so much money only to want it back + more (so the more we spend, the more they get, how ridiculous), if they were to sack Pearson then it'd do one thing - it'd manage to out-do what I believed to be the worst decision I've seen from the club initially, and that was letting him go the first time. It would be an absolute disgrace and I would 100% lose faith in us as a club, and I'm not just talking pissed off for a while, I'm talking never ever getting to the top flight in a respectable manner and being the countries ultimate circus in the process.

If we fvcked him off and got Redknapp I seriously don't know what I'd do. Even if we went up it really would be the most inauthentic, most phoney and fake promotion you could imagine and I'd hardly even feel proud of it.

This is the best side we've had in years and I believe that even if we do lose on Saturday, they're on less wages than last years squad, they've got more years ahead of them, they play far better football and as a team and Anthony Knockaert's an absolute joy to watch, he could well go on to be a club legend should he keep this up whilst staying for a long time, we've not had a team like this for ages, I was proud of the one that came 5th and I always will be, but this lot are even better, the potential is severe.

The thought of us fvcking that off just to bring in another name (which failed to deliver their apparent dream last time) would make me so, so livid.

I guess it's not too bad though, nothing's actually happened yet and the obvious positive for me is Saturday should be a great atmosphere, it's the first time I really have seen pretty much every single Leicester fan that I see in the street, speak to on Twitter etc... all say how they'll be backing him vocally and it could be pretty memorable if we pull off a decent win.

Very concerned about Leicester but I guess it's mostly talk but I have very good reason to think something's going on.

Cracking post that. My thoughts exactly, especially the bit about promotion feeling phoney

Statement issued by Leicester City Chairman Vichai Raksriaksorn and Vice Chairman Aiyawatt Raksriaksorn on Friday 5 October, 2012:

“Since our arrival in Leicester, it has always been our stated aim to deliver a long term sustainable platform for success.

“We fully accept that the Football Club is constantly in the public eye and, as such, will be a constant subject of media scrutiny and debate. For that reason, we adopt a policy in which we do not feel compelled to respond to a media agenda.

“However, given the recent unwarranted and inaccurate speculation in relation to our manager, we wish to set the record straight in the most unequivocal manner.

“Nigel has and continues to retain our total support in helping us to deliver our stated long-term aim of achieving footballing success.

“Nigel is absolutely key to what we are trying to achieve. In the summer, we again invested heavily both in terms of senior playing recruitment and in the long-term development across all levels of the footballing structure of the Club.

“This reflects our continued faith and support in the football management of the Club. Our appetite and desire to achieve success with Nigel as our manager remains undiminished.

“One of the great qualities Nigel possesses is his ability to nurture a close-knit environment in which the players have been able to thrive. That feeling spans the whole Football Club. We are a Football Club united behind our collective ambition to succeed.

“Like all supporters of the Club, we have been hugely encouraged by recent successes on the pitch.

“Delivering success will only be achieved by all of us from owners, to manager, to players and supporters pulling together in the same direction.

“After two excellent away victories in Middlesbrough and Huddersfield, Saturday marks an opportunity for us all to again join together and create the best possible environment to help Nigel and the players continue to deliver more results.

“We hope that our statement clarifies the situation and ensures that all Leicester City supporters can now concentrate on Saturday's game.â€

Leicester City manager Nigel Pearson added: "I returned to the Club nearly a year ago because of the long term vision the owners have for Leicester City and I share their ambition.

"Earlier in the week I dismissed the speculation as nothing more than a minor irritant. My focus is, has, and always will be to deliver results on the pitch.

"I enjoy an excellent working relationship with the owners and directors of the Football Club and all my energies and those of my staff are totally focused on Saturday's home game with Bristol City."
