casablancas Posted 5 October 2012 Posted 5 October 2012 No denial they spoke to Redknapp, says it all. Do they really need to deny it?
Mark_w Posted 5 October 2012 Posted 5 October 2012 No denial they spoke to Redknapp, says it all. “However, given the recent unwarranted and inaccurate speculation in relation to our manager"
Jaspa Posted 5 October 2012 Posted 5 October 2012 No denial they spoke to Redknapp, says it all. Its doesnt say anything They could just be asking him for some tips for in the Prem . . . or maybe an office job
Mack Posted 5 October 2012 Posted 5 October 2012 “However, given the recent unwarranted and inaccurate speculation in relation to our manager" The word you are missing is untrue. Inaccurate could be the place, time, amount of times they met etc. They met. The owners were fully anticipating another defeat and they were going to pull the trigger. Fortunately Nigel turned it around just in time.
Bert Posted 5 October 2012 Posted 5 October 2012 Thank **** for that. Don't be too thankful. Regardless of the statement they still had contact with Redknapp.
Happy Fox Posted 5 October 2012 Posted 5 October 2012 Well clarity is what we wanted did we get that in the statement not for me, actions speak louder than words the Thais irrespective of their statement have had contact with Redknapp are they fully behind NP I am not sure really.
Leicester_Numan Posted 5 October 2012 Posted 5 October 2012 Looks like Pearson and his agent played their hand from a position of strength and won. Barring a disastrous run of results, he'll be here for the season at least
steviewalsh Posted 5 October 2012 Posted 5 October 2012 The word you are missing is untrue. Inaccurate could be the place, time, amount of times they met etc. They met. The owners were fully anticipating another defeat and they were going to pull the trigger. Fortunately Nigel turned it around just in time. The report never specified time, place etc. The ONLY detail that could be innaccurate is the fact they met and offered the job. Anyway, both parties have denied it now so for me that is that.
The Year Of The Fox Posted 5 October 2012 Posted 5 October 2012 Thank **** for that. Pretty much exactly what I wanted to hear. Barring a massive down turn in form, the only way NPshould leave this season now is if he decides they did speak to redknapp. Still need to show everyone our support for him tomorrow though
Rocky Dennis Posted 5 October 2012 Posted 5 October 2012 Shall we concentrating on supporting the club now and leave the conspiracies to Mulder and Scully?
21st Century Fox Posted 5 October 2012 Posted 5 October 2012 I swear some journalists must trawl this very website for a scrap of a story, which they then print and sents this place into a self induced meltdown.
marbelladave Posted 5 October 2012 Posted 5 October 2012 We had a woeful start to the season culminating in a truly dreadful performance against Burton. I would have expected the owners to consider a change of management as a possibility, so they would be looking at options, having a word with people. Redknap was the highest profile manager available, given the ambition of the owners I am sure that 'feelers' were put out in his direction and probably in other directions as well. The team's performances and results in september have changed the landscape, we are winning and playing well, unwanted players are being moved out (if only temporarily) and the 'close knit environment' that they speak of looks to be becoming a reality. The owners are behind NFP, but only while he performs well, he has had an exceptional month which is great, there are bound to be setbacks but if the forward momentum is, generally speaking, maintained then I think they will continue to support him.
Ric Flair Posted 5 October 2012 Posted 5 October 2012 Let's hope this helps Pearson further galvanize the squad and this doesn't come back to haunt us. I'm not surprised the Thai's made contact with Redknapp, after 3 consecutive defeats including an embarrassing display vs Burton at home along with some supporter unrest and a poor end to last season, it was inevitable to make contingency plans. Getting in contact with one of the best managers out of work in the English game to try and get a feel if they'd be interested is common sense, something I don't think they did when they'd sacked Sven. However, it's never good when these rumours come out at a time when our manager finally get's things to click and we look like we might have a shot at promotion this season. I think we'll be alright. The Thai's won't want to upset the apple cart right now anyway.
foxesfan1989 Posted 5 October 2012 Posted 5 October 2012 That statement is good enough for me. Issue over!
Guest ttfn Posted 5 October 2012 Posted 5 October 2012 Does anybody ever read the Observer's "said and done" piece? Every week there's something like this in there: Sep 14: Club X's owner on rumours the manager is set to depart - "nothing could be more absurd. I am 100% behind Manager Y and everything he's trying to achieve". Sep 16: Sacks him. I know it was a different situation (we were bottom) but Mandaric gave his full backing to Sousa less than a day before firing him. I think the Bournemouth chairman was quoted less than a fortnight ago saying they had no intention of changing manager, but the manager got sacked earlier this week. It will be interesting to see what happens if we don't win on Saturday. I don't trust the Thais at all.
_Fatboyslow_ Posted 5 October 2012 Posted 5 October 2012 There is a full statement of rom the owners on the Npower App. It may be else where as well but I can not post a link or copy and paste it. Basically it says after the last couple of results everyone is happy A link http://www.thisisleicestershire.co.uk/Nigel-Pearson-staying-say-Leicester-City-s-owners/story-17040259-detail/story.html

Manwell Pablo Posted 5 October 2012 Posted 5 October 2012 He will have spoken about it with Pearson's permission, perhaps even on his instruction. Look at the reaction it's all got. Fans coming out in support of Pearson, publicising the great job he is doing. He has just made it a lot more difficult for the owners to sack him, if indeed they had plans to do so. They will be utterly discredited if they sacked him now. His agent's piece may even prompt a statement of support from the owners, meaning they look even sillier if they sack him later on. This to me has all the hallmarks of Pearson firming up his own position. He has played a blinder, here. I really am suprised the amount of people on here who don't know what a vote of confidence is or means, especially as Sosa, Holloway, and pretty much ever manager Mandaric sacked got one.
Happy Fox Posted 5 October 2012 Posted 5 October 2012 A dreaded vote of confidence is if you are backing the manager in public to try and get fans on side so they won't give the owners grief, when in reality you are on the verge of sacking him, it is quite a common trait the fact that many of you have fallen for the trap is quite worrying
