Sorry mate but the nation is clearly going to have to talk about this and try to solve the problems that cause it, a head in the sand approach or trying to blame Donald Trump for it isn't going to stop innocent people being blown up.

Belgium does have problems, for a start they have sent more fighters to Syria than any other country in Europe per capita, you need to work out the reasons for that, the Prime Minister has said the security services are not upto the standard of other nations and the country clearly has a problem with controlling radicals ( http://www.theguardian.com/world/2016/mar/22/why-was-belgium-targeted-by-bombers) as it appears to be quite well known in the community various clerics returning from Syria are openly preaching around the country and no one has bothered to stop them.

On a personal level I found it quite worrying that Abdesellam could organise the Paris attacks and manage to flee and still end up back in Molenbeek despite being one of the World's most wanted men, ghetto's full of ISIS sympahisers are not "vibrant multicultural areas" no matter how much you want to believe they are.

It's not nice to say obviously but this is with you now, you'll have to get used to it.

You seem to think I'm Belgian which is more than a little confusing.

There's no denying the obvious facts available that show the terrorists have been successfully exploiting the generally liberal nature of the country to act undetected.  It's also inarguable that discourse needs to be made and measures undertaken within Belgium and the greater international community to combat these failings.  Rhetoric like "ghetto's [sic] full of ISIS sympathisers" helps nothing though and shows up your true intentions.  Like I said elsewhere I used to live in one of these terrorist ghettos of yours so I can claim firsthand experience of the public hate preaching and open disdain for our civilisation - or at least I could if I'd witnessed any which I emphatically didn't.

To be fair your initial comment that I responded to was perfectly accurate in the words you used.

Guardian investigation concludes that of its 10 journalists most abused via the comments section, 8 are women and the 2 that aren't are black.

I suppose I shouldn't be surprised, it's just that I thought we'd made more progress than it seems we have towards hating everyone equally

It may depend on what they write about and who reads their article. If they specialise then they will have a set audience.

If that makes sense.

I got 3 or 4 wrong in the question thing on allow or block although I thought the first one was to allow the questions on my browser.

The point might have seemed more relevent if there'd been some analysis of reasons for the apparent excess of abuse.

It might be that the criticism of those mentioned is justified or are you somehow suggesting a cut-off point for criticism depending on ethnicy based on female/non blacks norms so that, somehow the "abuse" is doctored to be equal.

It's a bit like stop and search. I read recently that because non whites had been stopped and searched twice as much as white so police had cut the number of "non white" searches down by half by the time of the next report.

Would that be a political achievement or a comment on crime?

Because the only reason police should stop and search anyone is if they have "reasonable suspicions" for doing so. The numbers and ethnic breakdown are - or should be - irrelevent.

Presumably the Guardian will rapidly sort the problem by banning anyone they don't approve of from contributing. I'm sure it will happen here in time!   :D

The reason the block comments mainly is because they are abusive and personal and off topic.

I did the quiz and with the ones where they differed I saw why afterwards.

There are also legal reasons why they remove comments.

The police doing searches do not really have to be genuine though do they? A police officer can say what they want to the suspect and people have been stopped because they 'look' suspicious in the officer's opinion. Does not mean it is correct.

What is wrong is when an officer's opinion is disportionate...

I'm not suprised in a way, because the feminist writers can be quite incendiary and the research showed that was an area that received a lot of the 'abuse'.

I was also disapointed at the degree of comments being blocked in the quiz that preceded it, because although all were unsavoury, I felt it would have been better if some where allowed to be aired and were tested against general public opinion. That is because a comment will hold some truth as to a persons train of thought just blocking that comment won't do anything to alter that person's thinking, in fact it's likely to strengthen it - whereas, if it's commented on and people disagree / respond unfavourably, that would bring about self doubt and maybe a change in attitudes of that person.

True, that method does depend on a kind of 'mob culture' to shout down things that an online community doesn't like, but in what is essentially an unpolicable world that is all we have to fall back on.

Perhaps if the authors decided to write well balanced articles, rather than one-sided pieces, seemingly deliberately designed to stimulate a reaction, then there wouldn't be so many comments banned. Though it is typical of the Guardian to create reactionary pieces, only to then cry about them afterwards and attempt to claim it as sexism and racism lol

Apparently this was missed by the BBC on their news programme. Even the Mail noticed it going on. There wasn't a Royal birth or a celebrity sex change was there?

There  are some online  sources that have actually  reported on it though but I have posted the Mails version for a little balance.
