David Beckham to leave LA Galaxy

He must be making some sort of money - there's no point going there to sit on the bench and not earn anything, or maybe I'm just too cynical. Wenger said the other day while he's been training at Arsenal his fitness levels are no where near where they need to be.

Why'll it's nice, I'd say it's less hero more great PR, because now everyone's talking about that - and not why has an over-the-hill player whose been playing pub football for the past few years joined one of the top European teams. It's not like he'll miss the money given image/merch rights etc. For all we know he's been given a 5 million signing on bonus.

I can't see Beckham starting for PSG at all, if the Wenger quote is genuine. I guess he can be used as a super sub with 20, 25 minutes to go.

Has a hint of a publicity stunt.

But Victoria won't mind - enough boutiques to meet her needs. :)

Beckham gives money to charity - gets appreciated. (although he is nowhere near a hero).

Craig Bellamy has accumulated millions of pounds for charities (as well as establishing a football academy in 2008) - always gets stick.

She's staying in London with the wee'uns apparently.

Do you really have to ask why?

Obviously going to PSG for the money but I partially tip my hat to actually going for a competitive league.

lol Eat your words.

Does he? I always hear people saying very appreciative and respectful things about his charity work. Doesn't change the fact he's a little gobshite on the pitch.

I will and they are delicious.

If I were a cynic I'd probably say it's just a work around the high french taxes and he'll be getting a massive kickback from merch etc while the charity money will just shave some of his taxable income off and smooth over PSG's PR.

75% tax on high earners in France.

Nothing on Image rights.

Just a point like.

Both equally generous things to do from both players.

But the stick bellamy gets is maybe down to how he conducts himself. He revels in it.

Remember once upon a time david beckham was public enemy no1 in england. He hated that and it drove him to redeem himself. Not play up to it.

They have both created a public persona. Just in different ways. Who would you want you kids to aspire tobe.

Between the two, Beckham is the better role model I suppose. But I wouldn't want my kids to aspire to be him, his body is a mess with all those tatoos.

Does this take effect whether you work or live there?

On a sidenote, David Beckham is only five years younger than PSG. lol

lol I'd happily have the tatoos if I could have the six pack as well.

What a hero this man is. Won't be earning a penny, all going to a local charity.

TBH i couldnt imagine not giving my wages if I was worth 100+ million.

I think your just mad that hes achieved more than Steven Gerrard ever will.

I know he has, and what? That doesn't influence my opinion of Beckham, he's still one of the most overrated players. Gerrard is a more complete player, and stayed loyal to the club he loves, Beckham didn't.

And if you're on about achievements, Matt Le Tissier is one of my favourite players ever and he basically won nothing.

Cant believe anyone would slag him off for what he's doing.

NO matter what the PR behind it,its still a great gesture to give any amount of cash away let alone millions.

Well Done....And he's sexy too... :sweating:
