Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich is reportedly considering ex-Liverpool boss Rafael Benitez as a possible short-term replacement for Roberto Di Matteo.

Just shows the owner felt he had to give him the job after the Champions League victory but he never really wanted him.

The guy has an over 50% win ratio with Chelsea, seems stupid but there you go.

I personally don't think Di Matteo should have got the gig in the summer permanently, he was always going to be under scrutiny to re-produce the success he got so quickly.

Getting rid of AVB worked for them, so this might also reap some trophies again this season, haha.

feel sorry for RDM, has imo always had the cloud of Roman wanting Pep.G as manager;think RDM was kinda railroaded into the job thanks to all the success he had last season.

i think the change has happened quicker due to the fact of his last 8 games, where hes only won 1 game, drew 3 and lost 4.

I don't think the owner really wanted him full-time, but probably thought that immediately after the Champions League win to not give him the job would bring even more criticism.

It's harsh though, and surely the next manager is just keeping the seat warm for Guardiola in the summer?

2 things are certain, 1, Chelsea/Abramovic are absolutely ridiculous, personally I believe Di Matteo was doing a more than satisfactory job, 2, we aren't taking this poll seriously (as much as I would love to see Neil Warnock) managing the Blues

Why is any decent manager going to take a gig until the end of the season? Redknapp might, but anyone currently at another club wouldn't unless they want to make a name for themselves and why would Chelsea risk another unproven manager.

Would Benitez take the reigns without assurances they want him long term? I'd be amazed if he would but he is an oddity. Perhaps he's the only one who can muster more than a trump out of Torres.
