Interesting January?

(My first post) Pearson has been quoted on a couple of occasions saying that we have a comparitivly small squad, so I'd be very surprised if he didn't strengthen the team in January.

If we are still in the top 3-4 then I reckon he'll look at some strong loan players to see us through with possibly an older more experienced midfielder and/or defender. I wouldn't want to see too many changes myself though. Not with the team starting to come together like they are. Just some added depth.

If we're firmly around automatics I would personally want us to have an earnest crack at luring Charlie Austin. I think he will likely go to the Prem or stay at Burnley, but you never know, the promoted clubs last season all went out and picked up strikers.

Them being Vaz Te (who had a £250k buy-out clause) and Billy Sharp (who had a decent record at the team in bottom).

Austin's younger than both and statistically his goals have single handedly put Burnley to midtable rather than... bottom.

Austin can do better than Leicester. I'd love him but it'll never happen.

Danny Graham would be perfect, we'd go up if we signed him IMO. Not sure it'd happen but would spunk silly if it did.

Graham isn't out of favour at Swansea, just injured, according to what Sky were saying at the weekend.

Wouldn't mind Chris Wood (especially as it would also weaken Millwall lol ). But if money's too tight for that, Pearson should look to get a Jason Roberts-type player on loan (maybe even Roberts himself).

We also need a physical ball-winning midfielder - in the mould of Neil Lennon and Billy McKinlay. The current central duo of Drinkwater and King are too lightweight and too inconsistent.

I'm sold on the striker issue now. We need a new one. I don't think Waghorn and Vardy will score enough goals even between them. They are both good enough for a place on the bench. Danny Graham is a brilliant shout.

I think as long as Vardy, Waghorn and Futacs can get about 10-15 between them, which isn't beyond the realms of possibility, we should be alright IF Nugent can bag around 15-20. If he carries on like he has been, that shouldn't be a problem. I'd only like us to sign a striker if it's the right player - they'll have to have the right mentality, they'll have to add significant quality to the side, they'll have to want to play for the club and - most importantly - they'll have to come for the right price.

I would be surprised if Pearson doesn't have a few targets in mind, but I would imagine he's keen to get a bit more of the dead wood off the books in January first too.

People do realise Danny Graham, Romeu, Jason Roberts etc are all starting or on the bench for their Premiership teams yeah?

That bloke on RL the other day got it spot on when he said strategically it is always best to strengthen when you are on top. If we are in a similar or better league position come Jan we should have a decent chance of attracting an out of favour Prem striker with the prospect of playing and scoring promotion winning goals.

Don't think we particularly need to strengthen elsewhere but thinking ahead it would be foolish not to if decent players are available.

I did say Romeu would never happen but we need someone similar. And he has only recently been making the bench for chelsea

We need Chris Wood and Ross Barkley on loan and nobody else.

We will get promoted with those two on board.

We could probably buy Wood if we wanted to, Albion reportedly only want about £1 million for him. Barkley would be a good shout on loan, but I think Everton probably want him for their first team now - they recalled him from Sheff Wed after all.

Everton have injuries and suspensions in the midfield, think Fellaini was out, Gibson and Neville.

Exactly what I said on here when we were top of the league - unfortunately it was met with claims of heresy and stupidity and that our small squad would be on the form of their lives, uninjured, never suspended for the rest of their lives..... Funny how things turn out!!

Harry will have a good clear out at QPR :

Zamora

Wright -Phillips

Mackie

Hoilett

Cisse

Andy Johnson

Guess Johnson is the most realistic ?

I would take Mackie decent player, the rest wouldn't want to play at championship level I imagine.

Not when he is injured he isn't.

Our midfield although very skilful are very light weight and opposing teams know that and now go all out to muscle Drinkwater out of the game. I believe we need a good strong midfielder someone with this leagues experience who won't be so easily dominated.

Our second weak spot is up front, Vardy I'm afraid is not going to make it at this level, how many times over the last few games has he been in a good position to score and then fluffs it ? Wagstaff although greatly improved still will not get enough goals at this level and neither will Futacs. Nugent is the only one who will get enough over a season. So strengthen the midfield and sign a decent striker.

My wish list would be Liam trotter and Chris Wood. I'd sell Wellens, Gally and Loan out Futacs or Vardy

Trotter and Wood would be my choices too. Sell wellens, beckford gally
