Dear Auntie Foxes Talk, I'm worried that I might be turning into a Leedscum fan

Am I turning into a Leedscum fan?

  1. 1. Should I have felt good when Leedscum scored against Chelski?

    • What were you thinking?! Leeds are the most hateful club in the country. Get off this forum!

Dear Auntie Foxes Talk,

I was recently watching a TV cup match between Leeds Utd and Chelsea.

When Leeds took a 1-0 lead (before going on to get tonked 1-5), I experienced an involuntary clenching of my fist and audibly uttered the word "Yes!" before witnesses.

Now, I was a boy in the early 1970s, when Leeds achieved footballing success with arguably the most horrible, cynical team ever to disgrace a football pitch. I'm also well aware that a fair proportion of their support comprises bigoted, loud-mouthed Yorkshire twats.

However, my dilemma is that I view Chelsea as a truly horrible club, worse even than Leeds, run by a callous and obnoxious oligarch interested only in buying success, captained by a horrible man and supported by a bunch of often racist Neanderthal louts.

So, should I be worried about my reaction to that goal? I need advice!

I voted the second one, as I think it's fine, you're not turing into a Leeds fan. I don't like them that much, but wanted them to win yesterday. Only because I didn't want another of the 'big' teams to win the trophy again, I think Leeds/Bradford/Villa/Swansea would have made a more competitive semi-final.

Whereas Leeds have Ken Bates as chairman, Colin as manager, Michael Brown and El-Hadji Diouf in their squad and certain fans are the same as you describe for Chelsea.

Neither club is particularly appealing.

I find Warnock quite entertaining (though I wouldn't want him as our manager). You've got a point about the other 3 - Brown must be one of the most thuggish players ever to have played the game.

He is entertaining, he is a character, which the game lacks at times.

I dislike Cardiff in general but I still got up and cheered Ben Turner's equaliser against Liverpool. You might think me a little sad if I tell you that's my fondest memory of the League Cup, I'm too young to remember our excursions in the competition.

In my eyes Lids will ALWAYS be the scum of football....closely followed by Liverpool.

Any City fan who likes either club needs to have a look at him/herself.

Leeds are the lesser of two evils. Plus they were the underdog. It's understandable.

I'll cheer any team on against Chelsea, except Forest/Derby/Coventry.

The only team I hate is Man United.

Add Liverpool and Celtic to that and that's where I am.

I'm not a massive fan of Leeds but I'd revel (which, by in large, Leeds fans do) in supporting a club that seemingly everyone in the country appears to detest. Living up here has taught me (surprisingly) that they aren't all complete knuckle-dragging Neanderthals, either. Not every one of them believes they have a divine right to top-flight football.

Don't hate Chelsea but don't like them by any stretch. Bit of a shit club but that appears to be indicative of modern football in general in this country rather than specific to them. I've a dislike for many, many teams - and there's tonnes I'd prefer to see struggling than achieving - but I only really 'hate' Forest.
