MC Prussian Posted 1 February 2013 Share Posted 1 February 2013 Yesterday, again I couldn't believe my eyes. We didn't receive one single card against Wolves on Thursday evening. And it's not the first time in this campaign that we were subject to little to no bookings by the referee. Credit to Pearson and the players for playing it fair. If I'm not mistaken, we've received only one red card so far this season (against Whitbread). I'm not sure but I wonder whether we have the best disciplinary record in the entire league. Not trying to make too big a deal out of it, but I'd bet that our discipline is playing a big part in our current success this season, alongside the steady back four, a brilliant keeper, a more than decent midfield and a lethal attack force. ealingfox Posted 1 February 2013 Share Posted 1 February 2013 Do you mean Whitbread with the red card? (v Watford) When did De Laet get sent?
C-man Posted 1 February 2013 Share Posted 1 February 2013 Hull have the best and maintain their record of being the most boring team in the league: 32Y 0R City have 31Y 1R which I understand is second best.
foxer Posted 1 February 2013 Share Posted 1 February 2013 Quite a contrast to last year. Yet another example of Nige changing things for the better.
Babylon Posted 1 February 2013 Share Posted 1 February 2013 Two Pearson teams with the best record... shock horror!! You don't piss Nige off by getting silly reds (Danns)

leicesterseddon Posted 1 February 2013 Share Posted 1 February 2013 You're right, and I'm sure it's had a big impact on our league position. We dropped no end of points last year because of red cards (Mills in particular)
RonnieTodger Posted 1 February 2013 Share Posted 1 February 2013 Refreshing to see, because the amount of Red Cards we had last year was pathetic, as well as the amount of penalties we gave away.

We dropped no end of points last year because of red cards (Mills in particular) I'd laugh if we got to the end of the season and still had less red cards than Matt Mills alone got last season. It helps when you don't go flying in two footed for no reason.

Great to have a manager who has some control over his players and those players giving him the discipline he deserves. You can imagine the free for all of last season. It showed on the pitch. coolhandfox Posted 1 February 2013 Share Posted 1 February 2013 Major change, can't win games when you don't have 11 men on the pitch. Last year we had 7 games were we only had 10 men and 1 with 9 men. That's 24 pts we had little chance of collecting!

StanSP Posted 1 February 2013 Share Posted 1 February 2013 Just looking at the stats whilst admiring our discipline on FL website, I noticed Bolton have conceded EIGHT penalties and have committed the most fouls in the league (345). How many penalties conceded because of Matt Mills ?
StanSP Posted 1 February 2013 Share Posted 1 February 2013 Oh and they've also received the most yellow cards .
Dan LCFC Posted 1 February 2013 Share Posted 1 February 2013 More top work by Pearson - disciplinary record gone from 24th to 2nd. I cannot believe the bloke has doubters.
StanSP Posted 1 February 2013 Share Posted 1 February 2013 Courtesy of FoxBlogger: This was the twelfth league match of the season in which no Leicester player was cautioned by the referee. The turnaround in discipline shouldn’t surprise us, after all it’s exactly what we saw in Nigel Pearson’s first spell in charge. Of the seven players who picked up a club record 9 red cards last season only Kasper Schmeichel and Paul Konchesky remain at the club. Coincidence? No.
dedlock Posted 2 February 2013 Share Posted 2 February 2013 Very good record. Not surprised with NP in charge. The players are very disciplined. With a smallish squad we will need everybody for the run-in.
