Calls in the paper for a recall for Rio after Cahill's mistake :dunno: Please don't do it Roy.

Typical media...its either they are great for one moment of magic or they are useless after a mistake.

Give the guy a chance.

We just need to enjoy that performance and win BUT know it doesn't mean we're the best in the world or something!

I cant believe the pundits claiming Cole should get ahead of Baines...Baines has been quality for Everton this season and whenever I have seen him in an England shirt he has always played well and positive. I don't even think Cole has played particularly bad this season but Baines is our a man, stand by your man Roy.

I can't believe a lot of people's views on Glen Johnson.

After years of being absolutely horrible defensively, Johnson has impressed me since the Euros last year. Very solid, and definitely our best option at this stage. However, I also understand people wanting to sack him off and invest the time in Kyle Walker as he is one of our better prospects.

Didn't watch the game last night but nice to hear so many positive comments despite the heavy caveat that Brazil are a side in transition and a million miles away from the side that we may have to beat next year.

Me either.

He's a very solid full back. Offers a lot going forward and does his bit at the back.

Regarding Cole v Baines. I feel Cole is much better defending than Baines an that's what's letting Baines down at the minute.

Yeah you're right, I see a lot of him for Liverpool obviously and you can see his improvement, down the Steve Clarke by the way. He was always a good attacking full back but in the last two seasons his defensive work has been so much better. Was brilliant last season when Liverpool drew 0-0 with Spurs at Anfield, Johnson played left back that night and absolutely mugged Kyle Walker off, Walker couldn't beat him going forward and Walker couldn't defend against him and this was Johnson out of position!

I think there is too many FIFA 13 opinions on here, just because Kyle Walker is quick it doesn't make him a good right back.

Me too. I actually thought he wasn't that bad generally. His defensive work is just good as Richards which people tend to rave about when Johnson first broke in the squad while his attacking prowess is much more consistent. I think he should get more praise for being consistent which can't be said of English right backs today (bar Walker).

Do people on here think that once you approach a certain age bracket, the excitement watching England just gets less and less?

I remember counting the days down to big games and tournaments in my teens and early twenties. These days, I couldnt care less about England. It cant just be because they are a poor side because we've never won anything in my lifetime

England aren't a poor side.

Northern Ireland are a poor side.

Does anybody anywhere actually like Andy fooking Townsend? :banghead:

Wish he would stop pretending to be Irish and just admit that he's English.

may well be the captain for the World Cup

Hope not.

Never seen him have a good game for England though.

Played in the wrong position.

Talk of Carrick playing centre back v San Marino, with Lescott being a card away from a suspension.

San Marino Vs England.

Actually sad Corrie has been moved for this, it's rather enthralling at the moment. Watching a load of Italian part timers stick ten men behind the ball for 90 minutes sounds about as much fun as hand washing Norris Cole's undies.
