Jamie Carragher. Retires.

Why retire?

He could easily play for a bottom half prem team.

Why would he do that? He's been a one Club man, sometimes people don't want that last pay cheque, maybe he thinks if I can't play for the Club I love then why play on.

What would be the point in that?

Clearly doesn't need the money and obviously wants to end his career with the club he's been with since a very young age.

If I had a cap I would doff it. I'm no Liverpool fan but ill forever remember his efforts in their champions league triumph. He kept getting cramp in both legs! As already said, a superb role model on the pitch and a scouse legend.

Suprise to see this.

Great defender, one of my favourite footballers. He is a great role model on and off of the pitch, and no doubt he is a Liverpool legend. The amount of games that he has played for Liverpool is sensational, and loyalty is sadly something that is dropping out of the game. Players like Carragher are a great addition to football, and I hope he stays in football doing something.

People call me a 'classic scally' and I take that as a compliment. I mean, that's what I am, just an ordinary lad who's been fortunate and done well at football.

Always comes across like a decent bloke. Shame he never got the look in he deserved with England when we had so many quality centre halves knocking around. Liverpool will keep him on in some capacity, surely?

He is like Gary Neville, a passionate moaner.

A warrior though on a Football pitch, and can't fault his standards, top player.

Yeah I expect him to be the BT's Gary Neville next season, then go back to Liverpool to finish off Coaching Badges and probably be the Defence Coach.

Think he was unfortunate with England, wasn't going to be a starter over Ferdinand and Terry which is fair enough and when you're a married man with 2 kids do you really want to be travelling to Estonia to sit on a bench and more than likely not get any game time?

He was unfortunate at the 2010 World Cup, got suspended for the Germany game.

Whinging baby, oooh I'm 3rd choice for England I'm not going to play for them anymore.

But he did play for them again? When Capello came begging to him to go to South Africa. England needed Jamie Carragher and he went and helped, whats the problem?

Yet again FoxesTalk members, another idiot posting before thinking and not looking into things.

One of the most dimwitted comments I've read on foxestalk for a good long while. I take my hat off to you sir.

Hasn't he been doing that for the majority of the last two seasons?! :dunno:

He said that he put playing for Liverpool ahead of playing for England.

Isnt Carragher a life long Everton fan? sure i read that

Yes. So are the likes of Robbie Fowler and Michael Owen.

He once said "The Liver Bird mauled the three lions in the fight for my loyalties". His priority was always Liverpool, obviously.
