HEGGSY Posted 14 February 2013 Posted 14 February 2013 http://news.sky.com/story/1051959/oscar-pistorius-held-for-shooting-girlfriend His girlfriend tried to wake him up in the morning, travelled to his home to surprise him on Valentines Day, and he shot her in the head and killed her, thinking she was a burglar...... ALLEGEDLY
goose2010 Posted 14 February 2013 Posted 14 February 2013 We all say and do things we regret when you're legless but that's taking it a bit too far!
Jimothy Posted 14 February 2013 Posted 14 February 2013 Shot 4 times? wow:O I was taken back by that part too. Never been in situation he was allegedly in, but seems odd to shoot her 4 times. How can you shoot someone 4 times by mistake?
Bert Posted 14 February 2013 Posted 14 February 2013 Waiting for the full details to come out before I have any real say, however it's very tragic. RIP to the lady.

We'll be waiting for your conclusions with baited breath. Seriously, if anything, this just highlights how ridiculous it is having guns in your home 'for protection'.
Jimothy Posted 14 February 2013 Posted 14 February 2013 We all say and do things we regret when you're legless but that's taking it a bit too far! He's clearly guilty, hasn't got a leg to stand on.
Guest MattP Posted 14 February 2013 Posted 14 February 2013 We'll be waiting for your conclusions with baited breath. Seriously, if anything, this just highlights how ridiculous it is having guns in your home 'for protection'. Or it highlights how daft it is to shoot on sight without a 'hands up' warning? If he was living in Spain I'd agree with you but I've got family in South Africa, a gun is pretty much essential in a middle class home there nowadays.
Itsthejoeker Posted 14 February 2013 Posted 14 February 2013 If anything this highlights the state of South Africa. Even over here if someone was bistling around my house at four in the morning while I expected to be alone I'd grab the heaviest or sharpest thing nearby and go and investigate.
Finnegan Posted 14 February 2013 Posted 14 February 2013 Hit four times in the head and chest having just woken up? He's after the wrong Olympic gold.
Manwell Pablo Posted 14 February 2013 Posted 14 February 2013 Hit four times in the head and chest having just woken up? He's after the wrong Olympic gold. That's what I thought I aint breaking into his house, he's like a no legged Leon! We'll be waiting for your conclusions with baited breath. Seriously, if anything, this just highlights how ridiculous it is having guns in your home 'for protection'. :-S You'd be barmy not to have a gun in your house in South Africa. If anything this is her fault.
yorkie1999 Posted 14 February 2013 Posted 14 February 2013 Bit of a knee jerk reaction if you ask me..
morris1234 Posted 14 February 2013 Posted 14 February 2013 Wow RIP to the lady and thoughts are with her family and friends. As for pistorius, what are the laws over there about this sort of thing? As we all know if you find a burglar in this country , we ourselves can end up in trouble for a anything less than offering them a cuppa and helping them get their car boot open! Bit of a knee jerk reaction if you ask me.. Wrong thread

Wrong thread In South Africa you're allowed to blow anyone away who tresspasses on your property. This is a bit of a grey area, as she has no ill intent and he's gunned her down without identifying her as a intruder. Still entering someone's house in the middle of the night without them knowing in South Africa, is some dumb shit.
Guest MattP Posted 14 February 2013 Posted 14 February 2013 How can you shoot at that? He thought it was this.
Manwell Pablo Posted 14 February 2013 Posted 14 February 2013 How can you shoot at that? That's a serious waste. Oscar hang your head mate.
FoxyPV Posted 14 February 2013 Posted 14 February 2013 If he shot her by accident, then why didn't he ring the police himself once he realised his mistake? It's incredibly suspicious.
foxesfan1989 Posted 14 February 2013 Posted 14 February 2013 One of the more shocking news stories I have woken up to.
Guest MattP Posted 14 February 2013 Posted 14 February 2013 Doesn't appear it was mistaken identity according to that press conference.

ScouseFox Posted 14 February 2013 Posted 14 February 2013 From what those police were saying on SSN it sounds unlikely it was an accident. No sign of forced entry, they've not said or heard anything of mistaken identity, and more importantly "there have been previous domestic cases reported from this address" or something.
Manwell Pablo Posted 14 February 2013 Posted 14 February 2013 Maybe he thought she was a replicant? I'd snicker but your about the 12th person I've seen make a Blade Runner Joke in the space of 2 hours
indierich06 Posted 14 February 2013 Posted 14 February 2013 I'd snicker but your about the 12th person I've seen make a Blade Runner Joke in the space of 2 hours I wouldn't expect any less from the internet haha.
Alf Bentley Posted 14 February 2013 Posted 14 February 2013 I assume he'll be remanded in custody in case he does a runner... In all seriousness, he could have a decent defence. If he was wearing those blades in bed and ended up lying on his back, it would have caused the sheets to obscure his view of who came into the room.
