Guest Posted 20 February 2013 Posted 20 February 2013 Am I actually in a nightmare? Close. It's FoxesTalk after a loss
Guest Col city fan Posted 20 February 2013 Posted 20 February 2013 Gonna go against the grain here... When Kermo played for City (so I could really judge him, not just on two games this season) I thought he was very very average. I'd have let him go too.. Without a doubt.
indierich06 Posted 20 February 2013 Posted 20 February 2013 - Scored with a nice finish - Won the ball in the air over and over and over again - Won the flick on that set up the wonder goal - Pressed from the front really effectively. Ok, I'm not saying he's brilliant, but is he really a worse option off the bench than Vardy?? He's scored twice against us this season... just saying. I'd be more than happy to have him on our bench - I've defended our strikers from pillar to post, but I'm never against getting in some better options. Mind you, after that pen, was he ever really going to have a successful career at this club? It was probably for the best that he moved on - the booing he got last night showed that some people have really long memories.
foxfanazer Posted 20 February 2013 Posted 20 February 2013 Ok, I'm not saying he's brilliant, but is he really a worse option off the bench than Vardy? Agree with the rest of it but I don't get this bit. He's not a better option off the bench than Vardy for us because he's not ours?
indierich06 Posted 20 February 2013 Posted 20 February 2013 Agree with the rest of it but I don't get this bit. He's not a better option off the bench than Vardy for us because he's not ours? It's called a hypothetical situation. In this hypothetical situation, Kermorgant is playing for us and we're asked to suspend our disbelif and think about whether he'd be a better option off the bench than Vardy if he played for us.
foxfanazer Posted 20 February 2013 Posted 20 February 2013 Well the fact that we only rate our players when they move to another club makes it a bit of a pointless question. Kermo was nothing better than average for us but because he's scored twice against us this season he's the missing link for us.

Kermo was nothing better than average for us but because he's scored twice against us this season he's the missing link for us. No-one's said that? People are just saying in his current form for Charlton, he'd probably be a better option for us off the bench than Vardy. That's all.
MrSpaM Posted 20 February 2013 Posted 20 February 2013 Fair play to the guy for not celebrating his goal like mad. I'd have expected him to be doing laps round the pitch.
L1wood Posted 20 February 2013 Posted 20 February 2013 Imo best target man in the league neat 1st touch good movement & didnt get beat in the air all night but the key was when he won a header he flicked it to a red shirt instead of just further up the pitch

People are just saying in his current form for Charlton, he'd probably be a better option for us off the bench than Vardy. That's all. I don't know what sort of form he's in but if its any good then he'll be a better option than Nugent in the starting 11. Form is temporary, we are perfect examples of that.To be honest mate my issue isn't really about Kermo, it's more the fact that when we sell somebody that really didn't do anything for us or if somebody can't get into our squad, all of a sudden they are quality players that are far better than our current crop. I totally agree that Vardy isn't cut out for this level but I don't think Kermo would be the answer either
foxfanazer Posted 20 February 2013 Posted 20 February 2013 Fair play to the guy for not celebrating his goal like mad. I'd have expected him to be doing laps round the pitch. yeah I was really surprised by that, especially after doing it at their ground
Alf Bentley Posted 20 February 2013 Posted 20 February 2013 Fair play to the guy for not celebrating his goal like mad. I'd have expected him to be doing laps round the pitch. He may have taken the decision himself, but I wouldn't be surprised if Chris Powell had a word with him beforehand, along the lines of "If you score, don't do anything to wind the Leicester fans up as it'll benefit them, not us". I was in the Kop and he seemed to give us a split-second glance as if he was going to make some "**** you" gesture but then thought better of it and turned away to go back to the half-way line. I liked what little I saw of Kermo when he was here - not just good in the air, but a decent touch on the ground and a good sense of teamplay. I'm not surprised that he's prospered at Charlton, though they've changed him from his old position - both in France and at LCFC, he tended to play deeper, more like an attacking midfielder with an aerial threat. I don't get all the animosity towards him - he had the balls to stand up and take a crucial penalty, attempted it in a way in which he thought he was most likely to score....but made a crucial mistake. I do wish the ****er would stop scoring against us, though!
Corky Posted 20 February 2013 Posted 20 February 2013 He played well for them, they played to his strengths and it worked. Gifted a goal but he took it.
theessexfox Posted 20 February 2013 Posted 20 February 2013 I don't regret letting him go, he didn't do it here, end of. He showed he can be decent for another Championship club; great in the air, and a good finisher.
gazfox9 Posted 20 February 2013 Posted 20 February 2013 Why did we ever get rid? i don't think his one goal in 25 appearances was the kind of forward we were looking for at the time.
Stuliasz Posted 20 February 2013 Posted 20 February 2013 Pretty sure Powell said in his interview after the game that he wished Kermorgant played like that every game or words to that effect. Doubt he plays that well on a regular basis, he was just fired up against us to prove a point.

The squad that Pearson somehow managed to finish 5th with wasn't good enough to go up, and didn't, as sad as it was at the time. Just thankfully Pearson came back to rebuild us again and finish the job otherwise I don't know where we'd be now. Probably still in the Championship somewhere.

don_danbury Posted 7 June 2019 Posted 7 June 2019 i agree totally, a better option off the bench than vardy.
Stadt Posted 7 June 2019 Posted 7 June 2019 Kermogant proved to be a decent championship player and excellent scouting really. Didn’t work out for us but he was great for Charlton.
