I hate Rugby

Oddly enough, it is in fact possible to enjoy more than one sport at the same time.

I agree mac. I've never understood the love football = hate *insert other sport* attitude of some people on here but oh well, their loss.

Actually rugby league is dominated by northerners not working class

Not working class?!

Have you ever been to the north of England? Go for a night out in Wigan and then try and tell me RL is not a working class game!

I wish I liked rugby league, because I hate the middle class-ness of union, but I just don't find league as good to watch.

I love Rugby and especially The Tigers, but I wish the fans wouldn't wear that ridiculous home strip if they haven't got the right body shape

You look like fookin fat clowns !! :)

I get that, but despite the general opinion otherwise the entirity of northern england is not working class! Out of interest by "middle class-ness" what do you mean exactly?

Looking forward to the rugby -until ko at derby gets in the way.Unfortunatley the rules of the game mean that the winning team will be the one who in the refs opinion gets a penalty because someone in the scrum slips on the disgrace of a playing surface that is Millenium stadium. No excuse that is a dreadful pitch

Yeah, I hate Rugby too. I much prefer to visit Daventry and Southam when I am in the area.

Stacks of Tigers fans at my work, majority of whom live in the city, mostly all tradesmen who'd piss themselves if you called them middle class. Hell, biggest Tigers fan on this forum is a window fitter from the West End.

Rugby League isn't strictly a working class sport, it's a northern sport. The fact the North is largely more working class is coincidence.

Rugby isn't class specific in Wales, in fact it grew to prominence as THE sport of mining towns and villages.

One of the most horribly stereotypical posts I've ever seen.

First of all to say that rugby players aren't sportsmen is ridiculous. I'd back a rugby player in any fitness match with a footballer. I've hardly ever seen a rugby fan wearing anything like you describe. Thirdly not all female fans look like male players, in fact a rugby crowd tends to attract better looking women. Finally, the majority of Tigers fans come from working class environments, it just happens that they have more 'posh' fans at their games than you'd see at the KP. They're not all toffs.

Grow up and accept people have different opinions to you.

I know quite a few girls in particular who didn't give a crap about any sport who now seem to be really into rugby....

It's almost like rugby union's become the fashionable sport to be into but come the next World Cup they'll all suddenly be into football.

The other thing I hate about the Six Nations is how it brings about this fake national pride. All of a sudden people I never knew were Welsh, Irish, Italian (who were born in the same place and grew up in the same place as me) are suddenly outlandishly patriotic for those nations. They will of course when it's all over be supporting English football teams such as Arsenal, Liverpool and Chelsea. And in the summer they were of course supporting British Olympic athletes...

It all makes me feel so thoroughly uncomplicated. Born in Leicester (England), support Leicester and want English national teams to do well at all other sports.

If I might ask, where do you stand on British but not English athletes when they represent GB (such as in the Olympics/tennis/Lions rugby)?

Couldn't care less about Lions rugby, happy for all British teams to do well in other sports.

Soar Poimt is packed with lousy England fans watching the rugby. Gonna miss the match now FFS.

The whole sport is designed as a vehicle through which closet gays can get their fix of man-on-man action without actually having to admit that they are gay. It's then covered up with this whole hardcore masculine bravado, i mean look how big and strong i am, i'm all man, i can't possibly be gay. Yes we do give each others penises nicknames and spend hours in the changing room looking at each other naked, that's just because we're sexually-secure. Regularly behaving like a gay and enjoying gay activities doesn't make me gay.

Most of the fans are gays. They only watch it because they like watching big and strong men run around in tight shirts. Have you ever heard rugby fans talking about rugby? It's like hearing people discussing gay porn. "Oh god he's so big, he's really really big, like tall and with wide shoulders and those big thick thighs of his, oh yes i really like watching him play".

Then the game itself. The scrum: everyone bend over, stick your hands up each others arses, both teams do the same, and then ram into each other as hard as you can. After you've done this and nothing whatsoever has been achieved, you can all fall into a heap. A nice heap of big sweaty men. Lineouts: so we throw the ball in and the highest jumper gets it, right? No way, not gay enough, how about you put your hand up his arse and ram him into the air, that'll do it. Game restart: can i just kick the ball or throw it? No way, not gay enough, how about you bend the **** over and touch the ball on the floor first, achieving absolutely nothing except to give everyone a good look at your arse, then you can do whatever you want with it

That's fair enough. I honestly don't get people's dislike of a particular sport (baseball aside, that's just stupid rounders) to an extent that they won't follow their city or country when they play. I really enjoy watching most sports where Leicester/England/GB have a showing, there's competiveness and excitement in all of them.

This is a fantastic piece of prose. The content is generalising homophobic rubbish of course, but the writing style and sardonism is absolutely top-notch. Have a +1.

With a very important game this afternoon(season defining) for city, I hate the fact that that awful egg chasing game gets any coverage in the media. With 1456% greater total attendances in Britain for football (official made up stat) why do we have to tolerate this rubbish?

FACT kids who can't play football play rugby, they grow up into slow posh boys who feel they are actually sportsmen.

FACT rugby fans wear green waxed jackets and green wellies (they should be shot for this Fashion Faux Pas)

FACT female rugby fans look like the male players.

FACT tigers fans all live in posh country homes and go shooting oikes like us at the weekend.

I don't mind them living in their own little world but I don't need to read about it in my paper or see it mentioned on Sky Sports News.

I HATE RUGBY!!

Are you serious?

A game between two second tier English footy teams that isnt even important enough to be recignized as a Derby nationally, should be more important than an international rugby Game attended by 4 times as many people in the stadium and watched by millions more than what would of watched a City game.

I understand you might be angry with how we have been playing recently but for goodness sake take it out on the people who are to blame.....
