Tom17LCFC Posted 30 March 2013 Posted 30 March 2013 What's everyone thinking on this currently? He's been quoted as saying an 'outbreak of war is hours away'. Think it's all a front personally, can't see anything big coming from these threats. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worldnews/asia/northkorea/9961610/North-Korea-outbreak-of-war-hours-away-as-Kim-Jong-un-plans-US-strike.html
BoneDog Posted 30 March 2013 Posted 30 March 2013 First I've heard of it. I'll have to check a bit of news tomorrow!
Hugo Sanchez Posted 30 March 2013 Posted 30 March 2013 Russia and China have both shit it. I hope America and the UK finish this once and for all.
Jaspa Posted 30 March 2013 Posted 30 March 2013 Russia and China have both shit it. I hope America and the UK finish this once and for all. The fvck are you on about, we should not want any type of escalation towards nuclear war. There has to be some type of solution that doesnt put millions of lives at risk Does this count as part of the Cold War still?
art924 Posted 30 March 2013 Posted 30 March 2013 North Korea doesn't have the capabilities to launch nuclear weapons it's been assessed that they are well off developing anything near to one. Their well known for their bellicose rhetoric, just a bunch of evil bullshitters. The sooner the regime collapses the better for all, fatboy and his minions should concentrate on trying to feed his people.

Oh and when did North Korea go on target bombing raids next to the US border?
Jaspa Posted 30 March 2013 Posted 30 March 2013 It does seem a very odd move from N.Korea, if you were waiting to mess with The USA you would at least wait untill they get themselves into a differant state of war with another nation, which is inevitable considering the Americans history. If there are any decent chess players out there, is this a good move to make? I would also like to add that we dont really know the true extent of N.Koreas threat, taking into account the backing of China, Nuclear capabilities and the most people per capita in active service in their country. I truely hope this boils over like many times in the past with the N.Koreans
ozleicester Posted 30 March 2013 Posted 30 March 2013 This is the guy, who "news reports" said, scored 10 "hole in ones" on the first time he ever played golf isnt it? Welcome to the future folks... the terrorism generation is over... NEXT!!!
skinnydipper Posted 30 March 2013 Posted 30 March 2013 This is the guy, who "news reports" said, scored 10 "hole in ones" on the first time he ever played golf isnt it? Welcome to the future folks... the terrorism generation is over... NEXT!!! No. That was his dad. 38 under par for the round too and witnessed by about 17 bodyguards! Not bad for a chubby little fella.
Webbo Posted 30 March 2013 Posted 30 March 2013 Over 60 million people in the US on food stamps. Oh and when did North Korea go on target bombing raids next to the US border? Absolutely ridiculous. North Korea shelled South Korea back in November, they've flown missiles over Japan and 99% of North Koreans would think they were doing well to be on U.S. food stamps.
leicsmac Posted 30 March 2013 Posted 30 March 2013 This is all rhetoric. I've said the same thing on here before - the status quo actually suits the NK leadership, and they will not attack SK when they know the only result will be their defeat. Yeah, they could bust up Seoul and many other cities really good (and as I have many friends there that thought worries the hell out of me) but as China and Russia will NOT risk WW3 by helping them, any action of that kind will result in them losing everything. So why do it? The leadership up there is crazy but not stupid. They like to shout out for attention every so often...this is one of those times. In fact I'm pretty sure it's business as usual in South Korea right now as they've heard it all before. Hell, 30 years ago there were assassination squads breaking into the Presidential building in Seoul to attack the President. That didn't lead to open war, and this won't either. At the same time, now the NK's have a cache of nuclear weapons (not to mention a pretty comprehensive chemical arsenal) trying to affect 'regime change' Iraq-style would result in a great, great many dead on both sides, so that's totally out the question too. Like I said, the status quo suits everyone - apart from the poor bastards who actually live in NK. So unfortunately we just have to wait.
MooseBreath Posted 30 March 2013 Posted 30 March 2013 Almost seems like a cry for help these days. No-one will support NK in the event of real violence. They must know that they would be swiftly trounced by SK and the US, so why bother playing up? If they just STFU they can get on with their weird shit and nobody will bother them.
Deucalion Posted 30 March 2013 Posted 30 March 2013 The risk here is the new leader. He is somewhat of an unknown quantity and the rhetoric has been more aggressive and more constant than usual. I don't think China would risk it's emerging economic hegemony in some parts of the world to defend a North Korea which gets itself into a war with the US.

All I would add is that I think it's a propaganda campaign from KJU designed to assert his authority and dominance over his people and an attempt to try and foster the sort of 'devotion' that his father enjoyed. If he'd succeeded his father quietly and without great rhetoric that might have threatened the families position domestically and internationally if people thought he was a softer touch than his old man.
Guest Mee-9 Posted 30 March 2013 Posted 30 March 2013 Back a rat into a corner, and it will jump back.
Webbo Posted 30 March 2013 Posted 30 March 2013 Back a rat into a corner, and it will jump back. Who's the rat?
Zingari Posted 30 March 2013 Posted 30 March 2013 Back a rat into a corner, and it will jump back. If it does it will bang its head on the wall edit; I'm gonna call him Kim Wrong Un from now on
Tielemans63 Posted 30 March 2013 Posted 30 March 2013 To be fair the North Korean Air Force look pretty imtimidating
Saxondale Posted 30 March 2013 Posted 30 March 2013 Ignore the lunatic. Despite the fact the NK leadership appear to be dangerously deluded, the only real worry is China's empathy for them. The kindest thing to do, for the benefit of the millions of repressed and persecuted NK citizens who are sent to labour camps to be tortured and raped for daring to speak ill of the regime, would be to displace the leaders. If nobody's going to do that, we're best to just ignore their idle threats and not entertain his pathetic rhetoric. Regarding China, the threat of trade sanctions would pipe them down, should the need arise. Their administration knows very well that their entire economy is based on making shit cheaply for the rest of the world.
johnny the fox Posted 30 March 2013 Posted 30 March 2013 Bring it on. the west will nuke the shight out of them, this leader looks like the kid who got bullied in the playground, tiny knobbed bleeder, the north koreans are well balanced lot though, a chip on both shoulders. lets just wipe em off the map, to send a message.
whoareyaaa Posted 30 March 2013 Posted 30 March 2013 All it would take is one nuke from the US and its game over.
whoareyaaa Posted 30 March 2013 Posted 30 March 2013 and its a good job we are in the process or have actually completed building the nuclear reactors...
