This "act" is a great example for what's gone so horribly wrong with the music industry. The show has become more important than the music that is supposed to be promoted (after all, it's called "Music Awards", right?).

It was a crap, over-produced and randomly exchangeable song performed by crap artists whose sole aim in life is to make the headlines instead of leaving marks behind with interesting and thoughtful music.

The mindless and pathetic "costumes" did their own trick to make it appear even worse.

 

This has got nothing to do with talent or art. It's all a mere desperate cry for attention.

To think that a lot of kids/fans adore this kind of behavior just blows my mind. What message does this send out to other girls? "Be a slut or behave like one, it's your/the only way to success"?

 

Miley Cyrus can't sing, can't dance and can't play an instrument. She doesn't even have style - all she has to sell is her body.

It's a cover-up for talent, basically. The one cut-away to some other (prominent) guests that simply sat there with open mouths, close to call it quits said it all, really.

It also seems to be following a well trodden path with Britney Christina et al, all trying to emulate Madonna. Whatever you think about Madge you feel like she called the shots. The others just smack of exploitation by a record label pimping out these young girls for money.

Like I said, if she did it well or the song was good nobody would give a shit about the bending over. After all it's only wearing few clothes and bending over in a suggestable fashion. It's hardly a new thing. I could give you a list as long as my arm of performers who do that kind of stuff, but nobody calls Shakira or Britney or Rihanna trashy slutty ho bags.

 

The performance was hugely embarrassing because they did it in an over the top obvious way and completely missed the mark of sexy. But in principle it's no worse than a lot of stuff these days.
