The Round 1 draw for the 2013/14 Capital One Cup will be announced at 9:30am on Monday 17th June.

The draw, which will be both seeded based on last season’s league tables, and also regionalised, will consist of 70 Football League clubs.

Ah, copying and pasting from other websites can have some amusing effects  lol

Oh well, most colourful thread we've had yet I would imagine.  :P

Anyway, back on topic, I'd like Dagenham and Redbridge away.

Is that before the season then or has it changed back again?

Wonder if we'll be in the southern section again this year.

Yeah it's the Tuesday before the season starts.

Impossible to say but I imagine chances are we'll be North glancing at it .....

I think first league matches are on 3rd August (World Cup next year, so fixtures have been brought forward). Round 1 League Cup matches therefore would be the second match of the season.

EDIT: Manwell Pablo could be right actually. Season could start on 10th August!

So are they not having a qualifier between Mansfield and Newport to make up for Wigan going down?

Anyway, I probably won't be able to go if I'm working, I just hope it's a fun terraced away trip for everyone else.

They might be. It's info regarding the first round not the qualifying round. Who knows.

I want us to get to Round 3, get the game on TV and have it moved to the Wednesday, meaning I can go to a game on my birthday again

I ****ing hate the league cup.

Play the U21s.

Better yet, make it an U21 cup.

I'd like to see the Anglo-Scottish Cup, but just between the top-flight teams. It makes 32, and the FL teams have enough games anyway. Would certainly bring big crowds to Aberdeen or Dundee, even they drew someone like West Ham.

How can people say they hate the league cup?!

Can't beat some league cup action, wouldn't swap the runs of '97, '99 and 2000 for nothing! And how about the memorable nights at Forest and Villa (relegation season), Fulham, Chelsea!

I understand and I know what you're saying but over the last ten years the big clubs have completely devalued the competition by refusing to give a shit.

When you're a mid table championship or premiership team with no prospects and no threat to your league position then a cup run can be great.

But in a fourty six game league season when you desperately want to be promoted from one of the most competitive leagues in the world? I'll pass, thanks.

I tend to agree with you Finners, though I don't want a repeat of the Burton match.

I'd hope we win a couple of matches early on then go out to a Premier League side if we are to exit relatively early.

Every game went as you'd expect it to go. Favourites won every time (except Fulham maybe).

Ours was an upset of sorts I suppose, when I saw the team sheets I did expect Derby to beat our reserve team but no, we're just that good!

Went to Newcastle v Leeds last night.

A bit of a nothing game really, Gouffran was the best player on the pitch and scored a great goal but McCormack played nicely for Leeds.

Leeds fans were ridiculously loud throughout and the Gary Speed tribute was pretty special with Newcastle being another club where he enjoyed success

What was really interesting though, was the demographic. We were absolutely surrounded by students. £10 in for them to see one of the biggest ties of the round and it got me thinking...

...shouldn't the club join forces with a local nightclub or something and do a deal for midweek games for students which is £10 ticket and entry to a club after?

Everyone's a winner as:

a) You'd sell a load more seats that would otherwise be sat empty for midweek games.

b) It's hard to drink in the ground and with the game not finishing until nearly 10, not much time pre-club for the students to get too leathered, so the nightclub might make more on selling drinks.

c) Affordable night out for the students.

I'm guessing that this would probably show too much initiative in a world where the "pie and pint" deal looks revolutionary, but even another 500 tickets sold is better than nowt and would pay Konchesky's wages for the night!

It's a good idea they used to sell Huddersfield Town tickets for a £5 to students when I was up there.

Only problem our season ticket holders ball their eyes out the moment it looks like a games going to be televised or anyone wlse but them might be getting a deal.

I like the league cup. All the over the top 'magic of the cup' shite that ITV try and push on the FA cup has actually had the opposite effect. "The magic of the cup!! (sponsored by Budweiser)"

I love the two-leg semi finals in the league cup. Bradford's run last year was fantastic. And it's the only cup we've actually won!

It's absolutely fine. Birmingham fans will remember it forever, and the great European nights they had on the back of it. Same with Swansea, wonderful final performance and it's allowed them to start firing in the UEFA Cup already.

It's not gave a shit about because there's no 'Champions' League place for the winner.

It's definitely one of those I pick up more interest in the longer it goes on, but sadly clubs will now put European qualification over actually winning something. FA Cup included.

Wonder how many clubs would be in favour of giving a CL place to the FA cup winner. Surely more than half the Premier League would, and every other club in the country.
