Fox92 Posted 5 June 2013 Posted 5 June 2013 I don't hate Watford personally, I used to quite like you lot actually, but what do you expect Leicester fans to say when a Watford fans put a video of the play offs up? (You didn't even win anyway, it's like Cardiff all over again).
yorkie1999 Posted 5 June 2013 Posted 5 June 2013 Ignoring the frankly pathetic animosity that some on here are trying to drum up (do you really care that much about Watford? It would be like us worrying about, err, Barnsley?) - but why do you assume all of the players will be going back? Do you think our Italian owners will say 'okay fellas, we gave it a season and it didn't work; let's pack up and forget about the premiership'? It's a project. Even if some of the players do go back, there will be replacements of equal or better quality. Most want to stay - and Pozzo has even said Vydra will be staying unless a daft offer comes in. If the loan rules are changed (big if - why would the club chairmen vote for a rule that would cut off a way of building a squad economically?), they'll come in permanently. Don't worry about the so called 'embargo' - all it means is that the FL checks everything is kosher. And if we settle the disputed £900k debt even that hurdle disappears. So for the hard of thinking on here - you'll need to come up with some different chants (if you can really be arsed that is) Nope they'll be saying "okey dokey meatballs, we gev ida go and eh didna work. Backa t the drawingaboard"
Matt Posted 5 June 2013 Posted 5 June 2013 Ey? Why wouldn't the chairmen vote for it? We're not talking about an easily accessible way of building a squad, we're talking about a way that relies on multiple ownership and so puts them at a massive disadvantage to youse.. Is it? Multiple Ownership? Have you not heard of the term feeder team, albeit not that popular, I only really know of the term through playing Football Manager and I don't believe or to my knowledge the term/scenario isn't that much used in reality, but if we got 'pally' with a top team and offered them this option we could easily do what Watford have done without our owners owning another club. TBH not to the extent of what Watford did but we kind of are using the scenario, Pearson or Steve Walsh or someone at LCFC must have links or this agreement in place with Man Utd, as while Pearson has been manager at LCFC (1st and 2nd spell) how many Man Utd players have we had on loan, It has to be 5+ rising to around 10? Like I say not the extent Watford have used, but it is a possible scenario teams could use without owners owning 'multiple clubs'.

I'm not agreeing, or disagreeing, with you. I just wanted to post that I can only count three - Cleverley, Lingard and Keane. (De Laet and James were signed.)
Guest Bilo Posted 5 June 2013 Posted 5 June 2013 It's a loophole only one out of 72 Football League clubs can take advantage of. I would be astonished if the other clubs didn't vote to close it.
Corky Posted 5 June 2013 Posted 5 June 2013 We've had Cleverley, Keane and Lingard on loan from Man Utd. 3 players Matt, spread over two spells. It's not remotely comparable with Watford's relationship with Udinese.
Kitchandro Posted 5 June 2013 Posted 5 June 2013 I wonder if Watford fans have seen this thread and reported it back to their 'Do they mean us' thread like we do as soon as another teams fans start slagging us off. Our new 'rivalry' or 'hatred' is now pathetic, getting cringeworthy tbh. I'd love to see how some people on here would react if another clubs fans were making so much fuss and talking about us in such way. I'm not sticking up for or supporting the Watford fans here, but my advice to some fans is take a step back, have a look, have a word with yourselves and get of your high horses, stop being so petty, pathetic and cringeworthy. I've tried to hold back so long, but c'mon, listen to yourselves, compare it to some things you've slagged other teams off for and compare it to the 'Do they mean us' thread, I think you will see certain similarities, all i'm saying is practice what you preach. It's not that hard to understand is it? Their fans were mouthing off and we're giving them some stick back. No biggy. If they were humble and not delusional no threads like this would exist.

You're desperate to save face, but lets face it, you cannot say with any confidence that you will have a squad of similar quality next season. If you don't want us to rip into you again when you inevitably end up in the shit (and eventually it will happen, you will go back to your level at some point even if it doesn't happen immediately) I suggest you stop bigging yourselves up for now.

It's not remotely comparable with Watford's relationship with Udinese. Fair enough, I was thinking Matty James and De Laet were on loan aswell, not realising we'd actually signed them (Quite happy i've found this out actually)....just shows how disinterested and out of touch i'm getting with my side (Despite still being on this boards and discussing LCFC). My argument doesn't stand up granted but my point still stands we have good links with Man Utd and also a feeder team scenario is an option.
KFS Posted 5 June 2013 Posted 5 June 2013 The "do they mean us" thread is mainly full of comments made by other clubs who don't actually have a reason to slate us. The inbreds that invaded our boards/ wouldn't leave me alone on twitter deserve everything they get if not more for waving their little pencil dicks about before prematurely ejaculating at Wembley. No fan deserves to see their club go into admin, but thinking about some of the people who are associated with that vile club, I'd love to see then crash and burn. (Hypothetical situation before some hornet tries to irritate me by being pedantic)

Guy1960 Posted 5 June 2013 Posted 5 June 2013 Fair enough but they do it to wind you up...which both sides have done very well. Stop trying to be so reasonable. To have a 7 page thread after the semi final loss and also one on Vydra shows that a proportion of Leicester fans cannot lose gracefully. Watford finished 3 places above Leicester in the regular season, beat them home and away and won the semi final second leg fair and square. I know it's galling when little clubs like Watford get above their station but I'm afraid that's how it is.

As we have the same owner as Udinese (and the Premier League is more profitable than Serie A) it would be in Pozzo's best interests for us to have a decent squad to challenge once again.

That is not fair regardless of what the dreadfully written rules say on the matter, cheating behaviour like that should be banned. And of course it isn't just the PO semi final, it's every game before that where you played more than the five loan cap. Now I know you can come back at me and tell me you broke no rules, well I reject that, most reasonable people accept that the rules are incorrectly written so while what you did was allowed it damn well shouldn't have been. Justice was done for you when you lost in the final, it certainly wasn't done for Bolton who should've finished in the POs with you somewhere in mid-table. They're the real losers in this situation, wrongly denied a crack at promotion.

I don't mean to be dismissive of you, but no club is on their honour not to use rules to their advantage. The rules do state that international loans are classed as transfers, so Watford are adhering to that rule.
Harry - LCFC Posted 5 June 2013 Posted 5 June 2013 Take that up with the Football League. Anyone could have done the same. So why didn't they? Why didn't we just ship in a load of players from Serie A? How foolish of us! What idiots we are! It is of course very obvious that this was not an option to us as we do not own several clubs, so you saying "anyone could have done the same" is simply incorrect. No-one but you could've done what you did, don't fool yourself into believing such falsehoods.

Plus with the loan rules being what they are means that the hypothesis is possible. As a Watford fan, I can understand why a neutral might see it as a pretty bizarre rule (re international loans). For as long as the rule is there, anyone can stick to it.

Fair that Palace were able to sell Zaha for 15m and loan back or fair that Cardiff be allowed to get promotion building up over 90m in debt.
Carl the Llama Posted 6 June 2013 Posted 6 June 2013 What I mean is that any club can forge links with another club. aefevans Posted 6 June 2013 Posted 6 June 2013 What's happened with your serie A players since the play-offs? Any of them stuck around/coming back next season? That's the plan, Carl. In fact, one signed back in January. Of course, if they all have offers coming in that are reasonable from other clubs they shall of course be considered. But I can say with confidence that *most* of them will be with us next year - that may or may not include Vydra. As we have the same owner as Udinese having these players (or these sort of players) will not be a one-off. There are some players at Granada who have been 'on loan' from Udinese for about three or four seasons.
Harry - LCFC Posted 6 June 2013 Posted 6 June 2013 So was it any fairer that Bolton benefited from parachute payments? Fair that Palace were able to sell Zaha for 15m and loan back or fair that Cardiff be allowed to get promotion building up over 90m in debt. I agree with you about Bolton, that is unfair, perhaps it should've been Forest in 6th place. I've got much less of an issue with the Zaha transfer, he was signed in late January so I don't think any of the money Palace got was used on improving the squad. They'd have done the deal in the summer if it was against the rules anyway so I don't think it unfair. Now, you mentioned earlier about loaning in players that it was 'open to anyone' in an attempt to justify Watford's actions, while I don't believe that statement was entirely correct for that situation it is quite applicable for what Cardiff have done - big spending is an option that other clubs can explore. Nonetheless it is rather distasteful which is why FFP is coming in - a change to rules, in a similar I would very much like to see the rules change regarding loans, club ownership etc. You do put forward some good examples I have to say, I still think you're the worst out of all of them.
miked2006 Posted 6 June 2013 Posted 6 June 2013 Oh no, I am really not looking forward to next season. After having remarkable success and massively overachieving, the Pozzo's clearly wont bother giving any more players to us; they'll probably give the rest of their 55 player squad to other teams who will not make them any money. They clearly have given up after a year and are now going to leave us with no players. In fact, none of the current 'loanees' probably want to stay in the Championship, even though they moved to the club as part of a three year promotion plan. What really hurts is that despite getting a small profitable team in Serie A to compete in Europe, and a small Spanish team to stay in La Liga against all odds, building a team - which was one goal at the right time away from securing automatic promotion - was clearly a step too far. If only the Pozzo's were clever enough to sell Watford some players for free instead of loaning them, if only we had clauses in all the international players contracts that we could sign any of them and if only international year long transfers were different from loans; then we could just extend their contracts and get around this 'transfer embargo'. Damn the Daily Mail and their ever precise and accurate journalism.A few quick questions. When you had the 12 players or so on loan under Sven, would you have felt it was cheating if you had a couple more players in your first team? Were you outraged by the number of loans Doncaster had last year? Are you actually just bitter because a tiny club beat you three times this season and by 3 places in the league, despite spending no money on players whatsoever? Does the name DEEEEENEEEEEYYYYYYYYY still ring in your eyes amongst triumphant jubilation? When we left Wembley, most of us were disappointed. But I didn't see anyone crying. We are a small club trying to build, and this season was beyond our wildest expectations. The same clearly cannot be said for you. I see you're favourites to go up again this year. Lets see where you end up.Oh sorry, I completely forgot my song:When that French cheat dived,We heard you sing,That Leicester City were going to winYou all thought then,You had one hand on the Cup,But a shame that sh*t French tw*t ****d it upDown the pitch it went, then Watford scoredthat was when Leicester's tears really poured.Like babies they wept,For months, like a stream,How could such a big club lose to a tinpot team See you next year.

Harry - LCFC Posted 6 June 2013 Posted 6 June 2013 It's funny really as I don't remember you having such a massive issue with them when they were mid table. You're quite right, but then why would I care if those who misbehave don't prosper? They're actions wouldn't have had an impact if they'd finished 12th so there's little to complain about. It's all fairly easy to understand I would've thought. Bit like when someone steal a mars bar, great, how exciting. But when someone steals a car? Now hang on a second. They're both forms of stealing but with different outcomes therefore a different reaction. Very simple. Also, no-one would've listened to me earlier because it wasn't a big deal. I've been against Watford's actions right from the start it's just that I've only spoken up now because people can see the full impact.
