RedHux Posted 12 June 2013 Share Posted 12 June 2013 It's true the line about jack of all trades...etc. When he was with Forest he started out as a CB but played pretty much all the defensive positions bar keeper without excelling in any of them. His passing was woeful, but I'd imagine a few seasons in the higher league may have sorted that. Decent squad player for you if he comes....and if for no other reason, you should sign him for his taste in swimming trunks...

Harry - LCFC Posted 12 June 2013 Share Posted 12 June 2013 Hmmm That description is from a Newcastle fan though, a well established (kind of) PL club. A player who isn't quite good enough for them should logically be capable of playing for a good Championship team.

MPH Posted 12 June 2013 Share Posted 12 June 2013 Who ever we sign should be given a chance before we judge? What?!? We can tell what a player is like from the telly far better than a scout sitting watching the game!

Dan LCFC Posted 12 June 2013 Share Posted 12 June 2013 Who ever we sign should be given a chance before we judge? I won't forget the amount of people who gave Pearson stick when we signed James. It was incredible stuff.
Vardinhio Posted 12 June 2013 Share Posted 12 June 2013 Would be a very worthwhile signing for us if we get good value. He's proven he is a capable lower half Prem player so as already said logic suggests he is good enough to get in to our team. I'd personally chuck him in with Wes at the back, probably know each other too and could create a good partnership.

ealingfox Posted 13 June 2013 Share Posted 13 June 2013 I also think it would be quite a good signing. He's been playing PL for a while now so nobody can claim to know how well he'd do at this level these days.
Kitchandro Posted 13 June 2013 Share Posted 13 June 2013 I have concerns if we're playing him as a defender. As a midfielder I haven't seen that much of him.
iamafox Posted 13 June 2013 Share Posted 13 June 2013 I've seen that Perch can also play as a defensive midfielder, maybe he's the answer to having a ball winning midfielder we've been crying out for in ages.
RedHux Posted 13 June 2013 Share Posted 13 June 2013 He ended up playing that role for us and was great at it but after winning the ball he promptly gave it back with a terrible pass. I suspect this aspect of his game has improved though.
DMU Fox Posted 13 June 2013 Share Posted 13 June 2013 My Newcastle mad housemate reckons we're pretty close to signing him. Reckons we've got a very strong Championship player, and is pretty gutted to be losing him. All sounds promising apart from the fee, anywhere from £1.5-2.5m. For that reason alone I'm doubtful over it.
