Still top second season after 8 games though, although champions league isnt going so well
The Doctor Posted 28 May 2014 Posted 28 May 2014 I blame the manager. People complain when it's too easy, complain when it's challenging. It's not very realistic at times but that doesn't mean it's unavoidable. Fairly easy to avoid if you learn your team talks and use your substitutions wisely. I can't remember the last time I lost winnable game from a 3 goal lead on any version of FM. I'm not saying that to look awesome, I just refute the claims that the game is out to get you. FM depends a little on RNG, of course it does, but it's mostly a logical game even if you don't agree with it's logic. Never stop looking at it like a big spreadsheet, no matter how fancy the skins get. It's just a bunch of formulae, nearly all of which you can learn. Oh aye, I'm aware I buggered up, right from the transfer window (spent my entire transfer budget on Leon goretzka and then realised I had no fit strikers until November) but 3-0 up and against ten men, for them to play poorly until they go down to ten men half an hour in, then suddenly become world beaters is just absurd. Wasn't a winnable game mind, Leicester vs Dortmund in the 3rd season, still a bit of a weak squad (Moore and Morgan at centre half).
Leicester_Loyal Posted 29 May 2014 Posted 29 May 2014 After finishing 9th in my first season with Leamington, I was top of the Skrill North for most of the second season just to find that yet another awful end of season slump dashed my hopes. Finished second, six points off the eventual winners Lowestoft and went out in the semi of the playoffs. So many games I lost after missing one clear cut chance after another, just for the opposition to score from a set piece. To add insult to injury, the majority of my squad I've had to let go as their contracts were up and there desired wage increases were too high. Really struggling to recruit for next season with enough quality to be competitive at the top end due to such a limited wage budget, although I've managed to get the board to agree to a 3k p/w budget, up from 2.7k last season! I had the same problem at Gosport, all of the good players want an increased wage that you can't justify. Gosport were the favourites to be relegated from the Skrill South, I ended up finishing 2nd and winning the play offs, 6-1 in the semi final first leg being a highlight. Lost my young keeper to Walsall who will go on to be a very good keeper, maybe a top end Championship one, I was gutted.
Darkon84 Posted 29 May 2014 Posted 29 May 2014 So following my problems the other day, I decided to throw caution to the wind and switched to a very attacking formation, which yielded better results, keeping my in the Prem by the skin of my teeth. The next season (the 3rd, which has just finished) went a lot better, somehow managing to finish 7, and only 1 point separating myself and the 2 teams above. Quite a strange turnaround!
Dan Posted 29 May 2014 Posted 29 May 2014 Looking like taking Leicester up again playing a 4-2-3-1, seriously wondering what the hell to do in the top flight when I get there as everything seems to go wrong for me there. Finnegan, did you ever actually end up buying 14?
Finnegan Posted 29 May 2014 Posted 29 May 2014 No. I was going to get it on the cheap but it sounds like the AI flaws that annoy me in 13 are only worse in 14 so I've held out. Still playing 13 atm. Will probably get 15 if Leicester aren't utterly awful on it. It'd break my heart to have to sell everyone immediately. I honestly think I'd do a much better job of the Leicester ratings than whoever does them currently (no offence if it's you Ricey! If it isn't you, I totally volunteer!)

Ratings for LCFC are quite harsh. The LCFC ratings guy has posted in that thread.
Guest ttfn Posted 30 May 2014 Posted 30 May 2014 I thought I was the only one I'm still going on my Leicester save in FM13. I think I'm in 2063/64, just lost 3-2 at home to Norwich which was upsetting as before that I had not lost at home in the league since 2052.

Fox92 Posted 5 June 2014 Posted 5 June 2014 My game just generated the best highlight I've seen in a long time. It was Wood-esque. The opposition defender plays it back to his goalkeeper, his goalkeeper attempts to clear it, the ball strikes the defender bounces over the goalkeeper and my striker taps it in. Lovely!
lcfc matt Posted 6 June 2014 Posted 6 June 2014 I just can't seem to get the hang of the tactics on this game.it doesn't matter which team I'm with I always seem to fail.i seem to win a few think I've cracked it and then start losing again.ive been on forums to see where I'm doing wron and still cannot get them right bloody game :-(
Beliall Posted 6 June 2014 Posted 6 June 2014 Its tough. The game seems designed to adapt to tactics so you cant coast through seasons winning everything with the same 4-2-3-1. The most success I have had was with a 4-4-1-1 I created, that took 3 seasons before it stuck and worked all the time. I noticed my team were being unlucky, playing some giod stuff so I stuck with it evetually they win the league by a long way. Thats not to say I didnt have to use a few different ones in games when things were not going my way . My general attitude towards fm 14 is a 5 man mid. Rarely do I play less.

Beliall Posted 6 June 2014 Posted 6 June 2014 just played a little bit after a long absence, 3rd game in, my DCR gets injured in the second half, then his replacement gets injured, then HIS replacement got injured, and a glitch meant i finished the game with 10 men. welcome back me

I played Wigan away, had three goals disallowed. Ended up wing 3-2 (just).
Beliall Posted 6 June 2014 Posted 6 June 2014 I hung on for a 2-1 win. Was hovering over pause, ready to quit if they equalised . its not cheating if the game screws up.
