Dan Posted 19 July 2013 Posted 19 July 2013 Approx population of Leicester: 800,000 Approx population of Watford: 90,000 Our attendance to population ratio is significantly higher than yours, not to mention we have this small place called London right on our doorstep. We simply don't have a huge cachement area to draw from, and the only other factor that increases fanbase, glory hunting, is obviously a no-go historically. Mock our attendances all you like, but it shows complete ignorance of the reality of the club. We're actually very well supported considering the size of the town. The glorified feeder club comment is hilarious. You really have no idea what's going on. Stopped reading at that. Why make things up?
Arakel Posted 19 July 2013 Posted 19 July 2013 Stopped reading at that. Why make things up? Population (2011 est.) • City & Unitary authority 329,600 (Ranked 17th) • Density 4,180/km2 (10,800/sq mi) • Urban 441,213 • Metro 772,400 (LUZ) Making stuff up? Strikes me 772,400 is pretty close to 800,000.
Harry - LCFC Posted 19 July 2013 Posted 19 July 2013 So do you really believe the championship is fair? If you do you're living in cloud cuckoo land Well no, my point is that Watford are acting wrongly so of course I'm not saying that the division is fair. Population (2011 est.) • City & Unitary authority 329,600 (Ranked 17th) • Density 4,180/km2 (10,800/sq mi) • Urban 441,213 • Metro 772,400 (LUZ) Making stuff up? Strikes me 772,400 is pretty close to 800,000. The population of Leicester is 330,00. That is a fact and cannot be disputed. If you want to argue that our catchment are helps us out that's fine but please don't try and tell us there are nearly a million people living in the city. There aren't.

There aren't. LUZ is borderline 800,000. I'm not talking about just the city proper. If you want to ignore the LUZ then look at the Urban area, which is 440k. But go with the hardline city figure if you like...my point still stands, even with the lower number.

Mack Posted 20 July 2013 Posted 20 July 2013 Amen. Cocky pricks so up their own arses their head has made it's way through their digestive system and appeared back on their shoulders. Lets see what happens this season, should be interesting. You are lording it up on here like your club has it all right and ours has it all wrong. Are our owners using our club as a breeder / developer / feeder for their other team / teams? Nope. Good luck with that, because the whole set up at your club is a fake as a film set for a Western; Looks great on the facade, but behind it's all fake props and lumps of cheap wood keeping it up. And when they feel it's served it's purpose they will do a humongous fart as they leave and it will all fall around you.

I'm afraid it is rich, normally foreign owners that get bored and disappear after a relative short time. If I were you i would not feel so confident with your club's spectacular displays of financial incompetence in the last 20 years. Classic case of how not to run a football club.

Your club would've been like ours had they not arrived, so cool it high horse Watford fans- it's getting tiresome for both parties now.

True - Bassini would have taken us into administration...he had no money and was taking money out of the club into his own little company hence us getting into trouble for the Danny Graham saga. In someways allowing him to take us over proved the FL/FA "fit for purpose" doesn't really work...
Guest Bilo Posted 20 July 2013 Posted 20 July 2013 you failed to mention administration, debts unpaid, league one, manager musical chairs, and the best example of how not to run a football club. Fault. Advantage Doctor. I don't remember when any of those except league one were on-the-pitch, and we've spent far less time in the 3rd and 4th tiers than you have. Just accept it: success on the pitch: we're bigger. Fan-base: we're bigger. Facilities: we're bigger. The list goes on - we may not be mahoosive, but we're comfortably bigger than your club, you window-licking cuntbubble. Match point Doctor. wages bill - your bigger, debt - your bigger, yearly disappointment - your bigger, hoof ball - your bigger, overpaid useless players - your bigger. Threat of sanctions by non compliance with FFP rules - definitely yours I'm afraid. Plonker Fault. Game, set and match The Doctor. 6-0. 6-0, 6-0.
Happy Fox Posted 20 July 2013 Posted 20 July 2013 I don't think there's a single person who's disputing the success of the system, I'm strongly disputing the fact the majority of this league has got to cut back in their spending whilst Watford are effectively allowed to do everything on the free - whilst ending up with the leagues best side. The total irony is they call it Financial 'Fair' Play. The only one that seems to be doing this is us! every team in this division has signed players albeit with minimal fee or free agents.

It is getting tiresome, lets all agree to disagree and look forward to the start of the season. Honestly hope your team is also successful this year, visiting the KP is always enjoyable, see you later.

Anyway, it might surprise you to hear that a large proportion of our fans come from the county of Leicestershire. When you consider that both our clubs are the only major clubs in their respective counties and when you consider that Hertfordshire is the 12th largest (in terms of population) county and Leicestershire only 24th - it'd be fair to assume that there are a lot of people on your county who just don't care about your football club. http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_English_counties Yes, you're close to London but Charlton and Palace had significantly higher attendances than you and they've got more local competition surely because they're slap bang in the middle of it.

Leicester have no competing clubs within a 30 mile radius. In a 30 mile radius Watford have Luton and Stevenage to the north, Wycombe Wanderers to the west, and in north London QPR, Fulham, Arsenal, Barnet and Tottenham. Charlton dont get big attendances and as for Palace south london is a massive catchment area and they also reach out to Surrey and Sussex. There is nothing south of Palace until you get to Brighton on the coast.

harrowhorn Posted 20 July 2013 Posted 20 July 2013 What? Coventry is 25 miles away, Nottingham is 27, and Derby is just over at 32. Shut up. Tottenham 15 miles Arsenal 15 Miles Fulham 15 miles QPR 12 miles all with great transport links A lot of the Watford population will have families over 2 or 3 generations who have moved out of inner London and will have continued the support of a London team in their families. I have mates who are Chelsea Arsenal and Spurs fans not because they are glory hunters but because that is where they grew up or where their dad took them. When it comes to who has the biggest competition for supporters, I think even you will have to concede that this is a bigger challenge.
Guest ttfn Posted 20 July 2013 Posted 20 July 2013 Why can't the Football League determine a "fair value" on player transfers Ininstances where FFP is clearly being flaunted? They say they're willing to do it for sponsorship so why not transfers?
Fox92 Posted 20 July 2013 Posted 20 July 2013 The attendances debate is always boring whoever are involved. Watford is a much smaller place than what Leicester, or any City, is. Of course they are going to have a smaller gate than our's. Not only that, but they border London/some of the best teams in the Country.
Samilktray Posted 20 July 2013 Posted 20 July 2013 How old are some of you posting in here? I feel sorry for you if it bothers you this much.
AKCJ Posted 20 July 2013 Posted 20 July 2013 Watford fans think their attendances are decent? Alright then
Fox92 Posted 20 July 2013 Posted 20 July 2013 Watford fans think their attendances are decent? Alright then But take into consideration the size of Watford. Burnley only get about 12k every home game, but if you take the average of their attendances and size of the town, they are the best supported club in the Country.
Harry - LCFC Posted 20 July 2013 Posted 20 July 2013 Their attendances show that they're a much smaller club. That's what I take from it.
