Will Kasper sign a new Contract?

I think this comes back to the point that this is NP's last year of his deal so will he risk these youngsters? Doubt it. Same reason he doesn't want to sell our best players and start over.

Further more evidence we're lumbered for a year. What a waste. No dough to improve, no dough to get rid of him and no mind set to introduce our academy players, a route we will need to go down over the coming years. Brilliant.

who Beaglehole and Rudkin have raved about, suggesting to Nigel he's ready.

Do we know this? People keep calling for Taft but they were in the paper saying he wasn't ready for this level.

What like in training and youth team games where he saw him all last year?

I'd have hoped he saw enough of our central midfield last season to realise something needs to change, lets see how long this 3-5-2 idea lasts. lol

I have it on good authority.

What you laughing at. Those Bournemouth trio, are better than Waghorn and Vardy.

I'm laughing at the whole list... Forests best striker is Cox now and he scored 5 league goals in 39 games (32 starts) last year and that's including pennos. Vardy scored 4 in 26 (17 starts).

It's very easy to list a load of clubs, but dig into it and they aren't all that.

I have it on good authority.

That old chestnut! ha.

Fans know how well the likes of Taft, Cain, Panayiotou have played in the Academy.

If we aren't going to introduce them now, when will we?

They deserve the chance, there's been no talk of even loaning them out only Taft.

Derby are doing it, and with the squad we have & the financial mess were in, why don't we do it.

He could also have been playing for Hull.. which is a very serious flip side to that coin :D

I'm sure jack Hobbs would endorse your point

Nah we just aren't utter miseries.

Could you explain why it's deluded to think we haven't gone backwards when we have lost one defender (whilst getting one back fit in SSL), and a striker that didn't even play?

We have gained a left back and a midfielder in Danns who didn't play last year currently. If anything we are slightly stronger in terms of players.

I don't think we've gone backwards. I think we've stayed about the same. That's the disappointing thing for me. Like last year, a couple of players of real quality, at this level, could be the difference between success and failure. With the current crop, I can see us falling short again and thus make it 11 years and counting.

Just to sign THAT player, who makes me feel more excited about the season to come would be great. But I can't see it.

I guess we just have to wait and see.

But I certainly don't think we've gone backwards since Sven.

Well he just stated we are light at the back, if he had the money to improve he'd use it like any manager.

I'd imagine he will get a centre half from somewhere before the window closes.

Returning to the original thread (having skimmed thru' the postings), isn't it significant that only Hull seemed interested in KS. in other words, he is not currently good enough for the 'better' clubs. Therefore, if we get promoted, he'll stay. And if we don't...I'd rather not think what will happen to the club...

I'd sell Kasper and Wes for £5 million and then pay off Pearson, Gallagher, Danns and a few others. A reset that's cost us nothing but could gain everything.

That's a horrible idea. Just paying off those three would cost the best part of £5m. We'd need to pay compensation for a new manager so that would eat up any remaining money and we will be 5 players down (including our captain and vice-captain) and we'd still have no money to strengthen our squad.

This idea of needing money to pay people off.... can people please take on board that you use the wages you save by getting rid to actually pay people off. You don't need to sell a player to pay someone off.

Good post, and a sensible one, in a forum which is clearly decending into a slagging match, of Pearson lovers, and those that don't.

But spot on, only time will tell, we can all argue all day, nobodies right or wrong, all have valid points to a certain extent.

I agree we will probably be average again, and without a couple of signings that add a bit of class, I think we can write off another season😔.

The disappointing thing for me is, like everyone, the lack of signings to strengthen. As Col rightly pointed out we are probably a couple of solid quality signings off being the team we want to be and challenging for the top two. Those couple of players would have kept us going last season, and I think the terrible run, for me and many others, is probably niggling away at some of the positivity we could have about this season. Certainly, these players can perform at that level and are certainly good enough to be challenging for the play offs. Understandably our past wastefulness with money has come back to haunt us with FFP now being implicated. Some teams, like QPR, Wigan, Bolton etc, are relatively unaffected by this due to massive parachute payments which only makes it seem worse that we aren't signing anyone. For me, I don't really know what to expect for the season. Just going to wait and see the first few games as to how our squad has recovered and how it shapes up for the season

Lumbered with the fat miserable wife then

Average again ??? So last season was average then and we have gone backwards since SGE . Really ? Get a grip. No one is saying we don't want to bring in a couple of BETTER players for KEY roles in the team. What makes people think the players we would benefit from signing are out there and we can offer them better contracts ?

True, very true. Not sure how we will compete now!

lol

The real issue from last season is why it went so wrong in the second half and how we can remedy what ever it was. Something was amiss with the team and we lacked leadership and direction on the pitch. Maybe this is why Wellens was paid off, maybe not, but just bring in a couple of players will not resolve this issue. Fix this and a little improvement from the younger/inexperienced players and we have plenty to look forward to.

Kasper could have been playing for Steve Bruce, a friend of the family, in the Premiership. Leicester have denied him that opportunity.

If I was Kasper i wouldn't be making any rash decisions right now

We've denied him the opportunity?

If he wanted to go and we said no he would have handed in a transfer request which would have been refused. Only then would we have been denying him the opportunity and trust me, you would have heard about it if that had happened

Posted

Should have sold him and got Hobbs + cash when we could have.

I said on twitter 3 mil plus Hobbs and I'd snap their hands off and I'd take 2 mil plus Hobbs and Fryatt. I took a bit of abuse for that but there you go

I totally agree. A fee of £5,000,000 for the two is just about right. No promotion this coming season, and we will be well  out of pocket, as they won't be staying. Pearson costs us £1,000,000 per year. Now is the times to fill our coffers as best we can.

Whether we can remain in the Top Six this season remains to be seen. I just don't like the fear mongering and this doom & gloom attitude before the campaign has even started.

There's always the chance of pondering the season at the very end of it, but right now we're only two weeks away from the first competitive game and we shall focus on that.

We have two who are very capable yes, but like I said, if they dip in form again, where's the goals going to come from, I can't see Schlupp, Waghorn and Vardy scoring like 1 in 2, 1 in 3.

How many other teams in the Championship have a strike force that is capable of maintaining a 1-in-2 or just a 1-in-3 record (especially in terms of back-up strikers)?
