Carlisle Match Thread

It does and always will annoy me when pick shit teams for cup competitions and the fact that we got away with it last night wont change that.

I can understand a few changes, even six if it's the right personnel, cannot see the point in playing Danns or Logan as I get the distinct impression if it came down to us needing either of them for any stretch of time we'd be straight into the emergency loan market so we didn't have to play them,.

I agree to some extent but I wouldn't say it was a shit team. They were good enough to beat Carlisle, as they proved

We hardly 'got away with it', we were poor in the first half and it looked to me as if Pearson gave them a kick up the arse at half time, much needed too.

That team we put out should've won very comfortably, and it did. If we hadn't taken Vardy/Wood off we'd have hit at least 7 IMO. It was hilarious how easy the second half was.

Don't buy into this myth of a weaker team costing us either. After that Burton loss, did we not win 6 of our next 7 afterwards? I've got no problem with us resting players for a more important game against a stronger opposition. If we'd had a tougher game yesterday then fair enough, but the reality is Carlisle were probably the worst team we could've got at the minute. They've conceded four twice and five twice and we're not even out of August. Truly shambolic.

Got away with what? We hammered them from start to finish.

Their keeper literally stopped us going into double figures.

Just listened to Craig Shakespeare's interview, what a good interviewee he is. Really enjoyable to hear such an honest review whilst hearing glimpses of personality in there too!

Top marks Craig!

Well we got back in Leicester earlier than expected, it was 2:15! Cause of that we had four hours wait for the train. But at the end we decided to pay the £35 to get a taxi home. Even though Leicester is a lovely city its a nasty place at night. Got into home at 3:40am, this morning i woke feeling pretty numb and drained.

The coach journey there and back flew by!

Anyway on the performance last night, first half i thought we looked a little sloppy especially at the back, the first goal was a gift to them. We equalized just before half time and it was a super goal from Chris Wood. To be honest first half i thought Carlisle closed us down well and we seemed to have problems trying to create chances within the box. Second Half it was different story, there defence went from good to bloody diabolical, both Lloyd Dyer and Liam Moore on the wings took them to pieces. Anyway to cut this short we scored four goals in the second half and could have scored more to be honest, though there goalkeeper saved them from embarrassment. Our Defending last night wasn't its strongest i thought, Miguel made a few errors for his debut also Whitbread looked a bit suspect again. Carlisle didn't create much last night but somehow they managed to score two! Four in the two games isn't great against two poor opponents. I still think we are in need of another centre back!

On Logan last night i was surprised to see him in goal to be honest, I thought Nigel would only play Logan if he at too. I felt last night the easiest of saves he made a meal off, even though i agree Kasper needs a good rest i would rather he would have played Adam Smith.

Anyway back to the positives, some consistence forming, Liam Moore's fifth game on the trot he's been good, another good performance from Vardy, Knocky starting to look good again, Dyer the same. Also great to see Wood back to scoring ways his confidence will come back now. Drinkwater held the midfield well, i think Bakayogo had a good debut.

On whole a good evening of football probably the best away performance so far this season, well done to the travelling support shame the club didn't take a single picture of the loyal fans!

It's going to be very interesting to see who he picks on saturday, some good performances tonight. Should De Laet come back in the team?

P.S. Working on the video for this game

Also any news on the fan who collapsed in the concourse last night?

One thing that stands out from that Chris Wood interview after the game: "They (Carlisle) did their homework and changed their system which probably mucked us up a little bit and made it very difficult for us in the first half."

I wasn't there, but could this possibly prove that Nige knows what he's doing tactically. He's drafted a plan and set us up for Carlisle, then realised in the first half that Carlisle aren't shaping like he expected. He's had a look, identified the weaknesses in Carlisle's alternative system (possibly), then changed it at half time and given new instructions. Second half score 4-1 to us.

I know we're talking about one of the worst teams in League One here, but somehow this would fit proceedings.

Did the way we play change a lot in the second half? More runs with the ball targeting certain defenders, putting them under pressure? More crosses into a particular spot? More runs into channels?

Stattos - does anyone know if Logan has ever saved a shot on target for Leicester?

Working too hard on Spitter 2!

I don't think I've ever seen him have a good game for us... but has he?

There is no telling those that indisputably, absolutely and 100% without doubt know best, mate.

Erm - see last season? Disappointing defeat in cup led to unhappiness, crisis of confidence and our worst run in years?

I take your point Matt, but the manager has to be given credit when we do well (results have been decent so far this season so credit to him) and blamed when we are losing games we should be winning (and I would point out that we've gone behind twice I can think of this season and gone on to win the games).

In short, its not over yet - but personally I'd have picked a stronger side. Many wouldn't.

Its hardly a disaster in terms of maybe going out of the cup - but we just need to get in the winning habit and keep confidence up.

These people need to identify themselves and have their internet access revoked.

But seriously, it does take all opinions. Maybe they are seeing something we are not?

If by 'well' you mean play off semis, you'll love Nige, that's pretty much what he does.

That actually isn't true.

I was actually posting on Saturday also - which makes your post a bit ridiculous.

I think Pearson struggles to pick the guys up when they are down, so a poor performance, or a loss to a clearly inferior side, can quickly destroy confidence. This is my concern. Not to say it will happen even if we do lose this game, but its a concern.

Mr. Negativity on another roll in a game we win AWAY from home 5:2 making it 6 unbeaten games to start the season (5 wins).

When will he learn or go away (again)?

Saw we were losing 1-0, and then had won. Don't know anything about the match, but superb result. Lots of big wins, and one real shocker..

This competition is really important, especially to teams who are financially strapped, like us. Away to Man Utd, please.

Was there any Leicester fans there? because if you look at the picture special you wouldn't believe it.

Over a 200 mile trip on a midweek and they couldn't be asked to take one photo of us lot.

Quite clearly he does, and i bet he's not the only one. Fans like to see pictures of the away end, that's why Twitter handles like awaydays are so popular.

There is a picture of the away end about 3 posts above his. Why would the club take a picture of a half empty stand?

We didn't pick a shit team!

We got Carlisle in the draw a couple of weeks ago so unfortunately, we had to play them.
