Purely tongue in cheek of course
pSinatra Posted 29 August 2013 Posted 29 August 2013 Take a perfectly good language & bastardise it........or should that be bastardize?
Steven Posted 29 August 2013 Posted 29 August 2013 Invade other countries and expect British soldiers to die to promote US geo-political ambitions.
Jace Posted 29 August 2013 Posted 29 August 2013 Create idiots like this guy who calls Brits racists for using the term 'Red Indian' even though they are allowed to use the term themselves for their own sports teams http://www.foxestalk.co.uk/forums/topic/90041-red-indian/
johnny the fox Posted 29 August 2013 Posted 29 August 2013 http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Agent_Orange well they are the experts on chemical weapons. and the only country to drop "the big one"
FuriousFox46 Posted 29 August 2013 Author Posted 29 August 2013 Call us "Brits" I don't like it either. It's meant to be tongue in cheek/more accessible to an American reader
Fatty Arbuckle Posted 29 August 2013 Posted 29 August 2013 Take a perfectly good language & bastardise it........or should that be bastardize? I've only quoted your post as you mentioned perfectly good language, but the following line from the blog had me baffled.... "We don’t all live in London and why’ll we’re on the subject, we’ve never met the Queen either." I have never, ever seen that one before anywhere!!
Zingari Posted 29 August 2013 Posted 29 August 2013 Dear Uncle Sam Please tell your citizens to stop loving our royal family . Every time there is a debate about abolishing them , someone chirps in that they bring in lots of tourists from the USA and how much you love all of them , as if this is even relevant . Other than that I suppose you're OK (apart from financing the Germans in the last big skirmish)
Guest MattP Posted 29 August 2013 Posted 29 August 2013 The World Series is actually called so because the first national baseball competition was sponsored by a newspaper called "The World" It has nothing to do with geographical reasoning and the Yanks absolutely love pulling anyone up who mentions it. And I love American sport and the way they love our accent, go to a bar and start up a conversation with an American girl and soon as she hears you you'll well away already without any effort at all.
Out Foxed Posted 29 August 2013 Posted 29 August 2013 the complete mangling of phrases and lack of geographical knowledge.
Ford Super Sunday Posted 29 August 2013 Posted 29 August 2013 Was going to say that the first person to say 'they call football soccer' is a massive, ignorant thundercvnt but leicsmac got in their first

How embarrassing - I should probably learn my lesson and proof read. What a horrendous error. Although, I would contend that's more to do with the laziness of the writer and time when I wrote it more than the language itself.
leicsmac Posted 29 August 2013 Posted 29 August 2013 Was going to say that the first person to say 'they call football soccer' is a massive, ignorant thundercvnt but leicsmac got in their first Don't get me wrong, I love Americans. Most of them I've encountered have been top people. Far more friendly and polite than other nationalities. But please, please, I know the word "soccer" is derived from "association football" but it just sounds shite.

That's always been disputed. Regardless, it's not sponsored by them now.
ADK Posted 29 August 2013 Posted 29 August 2013 Things I don't like about Americans: Their arrogance. Obsession with the military. Their political views (generally much more right wing than any over civilised country). How we seem to import masses of trashy American culture and phrases.
Steven Posted 29 August 2013 Posted 29 August 2013 http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Agent_Orange well they are the experts on chemical weapons. and the only country to drop "the big one" ..... and don't forget Depleted Uranium
Manwell Pablo Posted 29 August 2013 Posted 29 August 2013 Their Geographically stupid outside of their own continent, that can be said about a lot of British people as well.

Although, I would contend that's more to do with the laziness of the writer and time when I wrote it more than the language itself. I didn't mean to sound like I was criticising/criticizing (are we speaking American or British here? ) by the way, I had just never seen that particular mistake before. I can't even begin to imagine how you came up with it. I like it though! Plus, at least it shows I read with interest. It was a good read actually, I enjoyed it.
Guest MattP Posted 29 August 2013 Posted 29 August 2013 Their Geographically stupid outside of their own continent, that can be said about a lot of British people as well. Just a bit. http://www.direct-travel.co.uk/travel-insurance-news/millions-of-brits-cant-locate-their-holiday-destination-on-a-map-801628295 Amazes me how our people call the Americans thick, a lot fo them are no better these days.
