Guest Col city fan Posted 1 September 2013 Posted 1 September 2013 It's the only position I'd like us to go all out for to sign someone (within reason and FFP of course) We know Wood can be clinical and can score goals. So can Nuge. Now Vardy is improving I think he could be good for a fair few goals. A striker is not what we need. Feel sorry for our strikers when they're feeding off scraps half the time Absolutely right. It's the QUALITY of the final ball that's lacking. With that, any of our strikers would score goals IMO.
Corky Posted 1 September 2013 Posted 1 September 2013 Not convinced, especially with the potential wages we'd pay.
The Year Of The Fox Posted 1 September 2013 Posted 1 September 2013 Waghorn, a player who has scored no more than 12 (?) league goals at second tier level, isn't a better player than Kevin Doyle. And how long will we be waiting for him to be 'in form' again? He's had a few chances under Nige and has only looked decent once if I recall correctly. It's time for him to move on imo, especially if we get another striker in. I'd take this deal. Sorry mate thats rubbish. The last time waggy got a decent run in the side he looked unplayable at times. Derby at home for one. He was only dropped bevause we signed wood who then priceeded to score 9 goals in 8 games which was what kept waggy out the side.
Bert Posted 1 September 2013 Posted 1 September 2013 Can't see Nugent moving. I would be very surprised if it happened. He has said he wants to stay here, he's settled here and is soon to be a dad. Can't see him wanting the hassle of a mive with everything he has going on. Forest trying to get Sako in. Just my opinion on it all, to clarify.

I'd agree with you there. Ignoring all other factors it just wouldn't make sense for a new parent to up sticks and move to a completely new place Absolutely right. It's the QUALITY of the final ball that's lacking. With that, any of our strikers would score goals IMO. Indeed
Bert Posted 1 September 2013 Posted 1 September 2013 I'd agree with you there. Ignoring all other factors it just wouldn't make sense for a new parent to up sticks and move to a completely new place Indeed But it wouldn't be hard to commute from Leicester to Nottingham. I'm quietly confident that our important players will stay.
cjslcfc Posted 1 September 2013 Posted 1 September 2013 But it wouldn't be hard to commute from Leicester to Nottingham. I'm quietly confident that our important players will stay. Oh of course, if he went to Forest. Still he seems like Nige's favourite striker and a player he will do everything to keep along with Kasper and Wes
An Away Move Posted 1 September 2013 Posted 1 September 2013 Someone in the Charlton away end yesterday seemed to think it significant that Nugent's banner had been taken down at the KP. I thought he was a conspiracy theorist type as he also mentioned Nigel's daughter being the reason Marshall has gone. So am I right in thinking this was ludicrous? Stringers latest tweet does seem to make sense that one striker might need to leave if Doyle comes in.
Freeman's Wharfer Posted 1 September 2013 Posted 1 September 2013 Would definitely take Doyle. Waghorn would be great for Wolves in that league but, let's face it, he's on his last legs here and will be gone when his contract's up in June so might as well use him as a make-weight for someone like Doyle who we might get two or three good years out of. If Doyle's on top form then we'd be swapping a benchwarmer for a starter which is good business.
Finnegan Posted 1 September 2013 Posted 1 September 2013 If there's money to spend we need to spend it on a creative player, preferably a winger or if Pearson insists on playing 8-0-2, then at least a distinctly attack-minded wing-back. Maybe now we've got Hammond Pearson is thinking of a 9-0-1 formation with Doyle the lone striker. This, to be honest. Doyle six years ago? Great. Now? Eh.
Arriba Los Zorros Posted 1 September 2013 Posted 1 September 2013 no thanks, a very one-dimensional player, don't like him at all. Poor man's Jermaine Defoe
MikeyT Posted 1 September 2013 Posted 1 September 2013 I think if we signed Van Persie some people would still find something to moan about.
lcfcsnow Posted 1 September 2013 Posted 1 September 2013 no thanks, a very one-dimensional player Standard Pearson player then.
sdb Posted 1 September 2013 Posted 1 September 2013 was so good 2,3,4 years ago. can't believe he's in L1 but that does concern me...not seen a lot of him over the last 18 months/2 years
Johnny Cash Posted 1 September 2013 Posted 1 September 2013 no thanks, a very one-dimensional player, don't like him at all. Poor man's Jermaine Defoe Most uninformed post of the day
JohnnyFox Posted 1 September 2013 Posted 1 September 2013 I think we should swap. Although I do think he's a bit similar to our strikers atm. We do need a fast striker to get on the end of through balls. Wood isn't agile enough, Vardy probably has the most pace out of them.
JohnnyFox Posted 1 September 2013 Posted 1 September 2013 Five at the back is idiotic, we have no one to give it to once we gain possession. Need people to get hold of it and push up the pitch. Not seen much of Doyle recently but his record is pretty poor, I would have him over Waghorn though.
lcfcsnow Posted 1 September 2013 Posted 1 September 2013 If we have enough money to make an offer for a striker on 40k a week, surely it would make more sense to bid for James Vaughan or someone capable of offering goals as well as whatever it is Doyle offers because his goalscoring record at Wolves is embarrassing.
The whole world smiles Posted 1 September 2013 Posted 1 September 2013 Standard Pearson player then. What so Pearson signing's Tom Cleverly, Mark Davies, Anthony Knockereat and Robert Koren at Hull are all one dimensional players are they? name me some players since o'neil that played for us that in your opinion were not 1 dimensional?

iamafox Posted 1 September 2013 Posted 1 September 2013 Signing Doyle would make no difference at all, he won't score more goals than Wood, Vardy and Nugent imo. Past his best.
Bryn Posted 1 September 2013 Posted 1 September 2013 If we're going to bring in a striker an aerial target man is probably the type of striker missing. Not sure it's really the thing we need though, when we're lacking a recognised first choice left back and wingers.
JohnnyFox Posted 1 September 2013 Posted 1 September 2013 Probably? The lad is RAPID He's quick but his eyes let him down! Passes to keepers and an empty space, clumsy player. Still performing the best in the squad as a striker though.
