Adster Posted 1 September 2013 Posted 1 September 2013 John Percy tweeted that we've made an offer for Wolves striker Kevin Doyle, could also see Waghorn go to Wolves too.
johnny the fox Posted 1 September 2013 Posted 1 September 2013 John Percy tweeted that we've made an offer for Wolves striker Kevin Doyle, could also see Waghorn go to Wolves too. he has been less prolific than nugent lately.
Harry - LCFC Posted 1 September 2013 Posted 1 September 2013 @John__Percy #lcfc have made a move for #Wolves striker Kevin Doyle. Deal could also see Martyn Waghorn move to Molineux #wwfc
Nift Posted 1 September 2013 Posted 1 September 2013 Waghorn would score for fun in League 1, Doyle isn't any better than what we've got however experience is useful.
Guest seanfox778 Posted 1 September 2013 Posted 1 September 2013 Better than Waghorn but best days are behind him I reckon. Would still like to see Waghorn have a run in the team but wouldn't drop anyone for him.
Matt Posted 1 September 2013 Posted 1 September 2013 TBH I was watching Wolves a couple of weeks ago and was surprised he was still there in League One. I said, he wouldn't be a bad signing for us, then I looked at his record.... Wouldn't be too keen having looked at his record, we already have what his record shows, he isn't the goalscorer we are looking for. That said if someone were to bid £2.5m for Nugent, Doyle would be an ideal candidate to replace him, if he was available at the right price, his wages would he cheaper than Nuge aswell i'd guess? That statement is based on cost cutting, not like for like replacements e.t.c I don't see what we gain from swapping with Waghorn though, think Waghorn would do the same job Doyle would do for us.
Vardinhio Posted 1 September 2013 Posted 1 September 2013 Doyle hasn't done anything for ages, please god no.
Ricey Posted 1 September 2013 Posted 1 September 2013 No better than Nugent in my opinion. Nearly 30 and hasn't scored more than 9 goals in a season in the last 4 seasons. If it's a straight swap for Waghorn with little difference in wages, then fair enough, but if the deal costs us in either transfer fee or wages I'd steer clear personally.
Johnny Cash Posted 1 September 2013 Posted 1 September 2013 Doyle not better than what we have? Are you serious Bro?
Fox92 Posted 1 September 2013 Posted 1 September 2013 I'd take him. Might be thirty but can still score goals, very good team player as well like Nugent and Vardy. Better player than Waghorn imo, I'd take this deal (one issue is wages though).
Horibbly Wrong Posted 1 September 2013 Posted 1 September 2013 He has been played on the wing at Wolves hence the low scoring rate, also been playing in a struggling team for the past 4 years, give him a break
Bluetintedspecs Posted 1 September 2013 Posted 1 September 2013 If true would be a cracking signing IMO, think he would be our fox in the box!
Jimothy Posted 1 September 2013 Posted 1 September 2013 If we're going to bring in a new striker I'd rather bring in one that adds something different, and this justs seems a bit samey to what we already have. Would rather get a lightning quick striker, or a really big strong striker.
Micky Posted 1 September 2013 Posted 1 September 2013 Yes please. Pearson would get the best out of him. Quality player.
Vardinhio Posted 1 September 2013 Posted 1 September 2013 Pearson would never put him through the middle, would be wasted.
RowlattsFox Posted 1 September 2013 Posted 1 September 2013 Offers an aerial option as he is decent in the air for his size. Think a fresh start could restart his career.
MooseBreath Posted 1 September 2013 Posted 1 September 2013 If there's money to spend we need to spend it on a creative player, preferably a winger or if Pearson insists on playing 8-0-2, then at least a distinctly attack-minded wing-back. Maybe now we've got Hammond Pearson is thinking of a 9-0-1 formation with Doyle the lone striker.
VLC86 Posted 1 September 2013 Posted 1 September 2013 Wouldn't suprise me if this is a back up option if Nugent goes tomorrow
Fox_in_spain Posted 1 September 2013 Posted 1 September 2013 Front three of Nuge Doyle and Vardy would be class, particularly with an on form Knockaert in behind them
Ricey Posted 1 September 2013 Posted 1 September 2013 He has been played on the wing at Wolves hence the low scoring rate, also been playing in a struggling team for the past 4 years, give him a break Pretty sure he's been playing upfront this season in League One and has scored a grand total of 0 goals.
TheUltimateWinner Posted 1 September 2013 Posted 1 September 2013 Honestly think an in form waghorn is better. All he needs is confidence. Why sign a player who doesn't have a proven goal scoring record and doesn't have time to improve on that?
Number 6 Posted 1 September 2013 Posted 1 September 2013 Not a bad player but not what we're in need of imo.
WhenYourSmilingLCFC Posted 1 September 2013 Posted 1 September 2013 His on big wages at Wolves. Unless hes willing to take a cut im not sure this will happen.
