Leicesterpool Posted 2 September 2013 Posted 2 September 2013 If Nugent does go, the easiest solution will be to sign the main man on loan. Nicky Maynard. Now that's a cracking idea!
Guest Bilo Posted 2 September 2013 Posted 2 September 2013 Doyle would be a decent signing, but not at £40k a week. If it goes through, I can only conclude we learned nothing from Sven's profligacy in the transfer market. I'd rather see us go for Paddy Madden at Yeovil; he'd be far cheaper, is six years younger and scored 25 goals for Yeovil last season. Much less of a risk.
kingfox Posted 2 September 2013 Posted 2 September 2013 Wouldn't be bothered if this doesn't happen. Don't want money greeding cvnts at our Football Club. Apart from Ledge.
phillo Posted 2 September 2013 Posted 2 September 2013 40k a week no hope for a no hoper this aint happening
Scoobyrob Posted 2 September 2013 Posted 2 September 2013 My wolves mate says he's not scored in league one yet this season. That worries me cause last time I looked we were in a harder league than that!
DJ Barry Hammond Posted 2 September 2013 Posted 2 September 2013 I remember a time when clubs like Arsenal were interested in Doyle. True, that was when Wolves were in the Premiership and Doyle was riding on a wave of confidence - and since then he's had injuries a plenty and Wolves have been a sinking ship, but no doubt the thing that would be tempting Pearson is that if Doyle could recapture his previous form he'd be a snip and a very useful squad addition. I wonder if Sean St Ledger pointed Pearson in this direction given that Doyle was part of the international squad - and in a world cup year, he may be willing to take a pay cut in order to prove himself good enough to get on a plane to Brazil should Ireland make it (not sure what there qualification situation is looking like?). So if the guys hungry and willing to come to us, this has the earmarks of a potential master coup by Pearson in the transfer market (yet again), but on the otherhand I wouldn't want to see us funding the move by selling Nugent to Forest for £2.5 million. When you consider promotion is worth £40 million plus and that for that £2.5 million you're weakening our chances of promotion and at the same time strengthing a rival, that fee suddenly looks pretty small - it may be worth taking a chance and letting the contract run down in the hope that whilst under contract Nugent fires us into the Premier League - at which point he'd probably become surpless to requirements anyway!
youglan Posted 2 September 2013 Posted 2 September 2013 waghorn will be part of any move for strikers true
lcfc_amie Posted 2 September 2013 Posted 2 September 2013 Looks like we're not giving up @reluctantnicko Protected account1m Leicester fluttering eyelids at Kevin Doyle at Wolves...

Jace Posted 2 September 2013 Posted 2 September 2013 I think the last thing this club needs is an overpaid Kevin Doyle on £40k a week would rather approach Nicky Maynard again
MikeyT Posted 2 September 2013 Posted 2 September 2013 Oddschanger â€@Oddschanger16m Leicester reportedly remain interested in signing Kevin Doyle with the move now EVENS @BetVictor!
DJ Barry Hammond Posted 2 September 2013 Posted 2 September 2013 I think the last thing this club needs is an overpaid Kevin Doyle on £40k a week would rather approach Nicky Maynard again But for this to happen we'd need at least 5 threads in the transfer section of foxes talk each with over 500 comments to them - so this is not happening.
The Bear Posted 2 September 2013 Posted 2 September 2013 I wouldn't hold much store in the Doyle is on £40k per week information. That has come from the Express & Star local paper who generally don't get a lot of inside info about the goings on at Wolves. When we got relegated from the Premier League the majority of the squad had clauses that cut their wages by 50%. One or two of our big signings in the final season didn't have this like Roger Johnson but as far as we know Doyle had his wages reduced. He did sign a new contract at the beginning of our final season in the PL though so may have re-negotiated his reduction clause down a bit. The people that know people suggest he's not on £40k but probably not that far off it. I'd guess at around £30k p/w which is still a lot. Our apparent asking fee is near £5m as well. Doyle isn't one to kick up a fuss either. He doesn't have an agent (him and his family sort it themselves) and has said he's very happy at Wolves. As for the potential signing of him, why does Pearson even want him anyway? Big wages, barely scores any goals, turns 30 in a couple of weeks. He's a good link player, holds the ball up well, wins free-kicks and can run at defenders, but surely you need goals if you're going to be paying that sort of fee/wages for a striker?

I'd be fvcking delirious if I was being paid over £1m a year to play Port Vale and Crawley.
wattolcfc Posted 2 September 2013 Posted 2 September 2013 Doyle - No thanks, would rather keep what we've got instead of wasting money for the sake of it. Get a young prem loanee instead.
ScouseFox Posted 2 September 2013 Posted 2 September 2013 I'll eat my own foot if Doyle is on £40,000 in League One.
Deucalion Posted 2 September 2013 Posted 2 September 2013 I'll eat my own foot if Doyle is on £40,000 in League One. Well I hope you like cheese.
DJ Barry Hammond Posted 2 September 2013 Posted 2 September 2013 Anyone notice Wolves have just signed a striker for a fee to believed to be in the region of £200,000? Maybe this one has some legs...
Ryanw21 Posted 2 September 2013 Posted 2 September 2013 Anyone notice Wolves have just signed a striker for a fee to believed to be in the region of £200,000? Maybe this one has some legs... Futacs!? or hopeful thinking?
Webbo Posted 2 September 2013 Posted 2 September 2013 When we have got rid of players on high wages we have had to pay up part of their contract to get them off the books. Maybe Wolves are doing the same.
Guest Col city fan Posted 2 September 2013 Posted 2 September 2013 When we have got rid of players on high wages we have had to pay up part of their contract to get them off the books. Maybe Wolves are doing the same. I would suspect this would be the case. It's impossible to imagine that League 1 Wolves could afford to still be paying the likes of Doyle. Doyle is clearly past his best. Not a bad player by any means, but I wouldn't entertain him at City for any more than 10k per week how things stand.
Filberts Treat Posted 2 September 2013 Posted 2 September 2013 Is he he going to join at 10:59pm?No.. This is not happening. Someone I know who works at the club said its rubbish. Waghorn could go though. And Nuge ain't going anywhere
Ashley Posted 2 September 2013 Posted 2 September 2013 Asked a West Midlands journalist about Doyle earlier. @smadeley_star: All quiet as far as I know. Won't happen. Close thread.
