Kitchandro Posted 1 September 2013 Posted 1 September 2013 One final time... Vardy and Nugent will score goals. They are generally good enough to do so. It's the SUPPLY that is the problem. That's clear as crystal to me. This has been true for ages. Both under Sven and now Pearson we do not have enough quality in midfield, or on the flanks to deliver the final balls through to the front men. Bollox to Doyle. I'd be looking at a player like Chris Burke at Brum, as an example. This team soooooo needs a Whittingham, a Koren a Chris Eagles... We MUST start to get forward more quickly and execute that killer pass on a far more frequent basis. I predicted that this would happen in the summer (and started a thread on it)... We are STILL looking at the strikers with a view to replacing them. Strikers thrive off quality delivery.... THERE'S the problem. Come on though, all of our strikers went on shocking dry spells last season. And that was down to them as much as the service. Another striker certainly wouldn't hurt. Personally I'm of the view that weve got a creative player on the bench every week, one that helped us up to top spot a year ago. A winger wouldn't hurt either though.

I do think we have a player capable of doing so though in Knockaert. I don't know why Pearson is playing this formation. I'm a big fan of his but I was so shocked he left both Knockaert and Dyer out after they made such a difference against Bham. We lack width, it's so obvious.
XLM Posted 1 September 2013 Posted 1 September 2013 Don't really see what he'll add in all honesty. Disappointed it's not someone a bit more creative (Tomlin type player). Oh well, deadline day is always a giggle, nobody saw the Hammond signing coming so who knows, we might actually sign a player our fans want..
Mack Posted 1 September 2013 Posted 1 September 2013 He is on big wages, we are supposed to be trimming our wage bill, he wont come for a big pay cut, this doesn't add up to me unless we are letting someone go.

lcfcsnow Posted 1 September 2013 Posted 1 September 2013 LCFC - always has a home for a misfiring target man.
StanSP Posted 1 September 2013 Posted 1 September 2013 Rumours last night Nick Powell could be joining us, if Doyle came this would mean the end for Powell. Would prefer Powell over Doyle? Nailed on to go Wigan.
The whole world smiles Posted 1 September 2013 Posted 1 September 2013 What so Pearson signing's Tom Cleverly, Mark Davies, Anthony Knockereat and Robert Koren at Hull are all one dimensional players are they? name me some players since o'neil that played for us that in your opinion were not 1 dimensional? why didn't you answer my question lcfcsnow am curious
Leicesterpool Posted 1 September 2013 Posted 1 September 2013 Doyle wouldn't be cheap either, he's one of the bigger names at Wolves at the moment along with that he's a regularly international. The wages we'd be paying him we could bring someone in on loan from the premier league a lot cheaper. Doyle was a cracking striker at Reading but in recent years looked pretty average at Wolves. We've already got to many players like that at the moment. Let's save the money and bring someone in on loan!
Maybes Posted 1 September 2013 Posted 1 September 2013 He is on big money at Wolves still. This doesn't really make sense to me.
MikeyT Posted 1 September 2013 Posted 1 September 2013 Can I ask how people know that Doyle is on big money? Has everyone seen his wage packet?
DanTheFox07 Posted 1 September 2013 Posted 1 September 2013 I think this guy could give us another dimension, make a good target man that can hold up the ball!
Fox 4 Life Posted 1 September 2013 Posted 1 September 2013 Can't believe people are turning their nose up, what have we got to lose, our strikers are good but Doyle is as good if not better than all of them.
Bryn Posted 1 September 2013 Posted 1 September 2013 Can I ask how people know that Doyle is on big money? Has everyone seen his wage packet? Premier League striker two years ago without a contract renegotiation?
lcfcsnow Posted 1 September 2013 Posted 1 September 2013 why didn't you answer my question lcfcsnow am curious I admit he (or Steve Walsh) has a good eye for a player. At Hull he built his side around Koren but every creative player here seems to go stale. It has to be his management of players/negative tactics. I think he knows this himself given he's started the season playing no creative players.
hackneyfox Posted 1 September 2013 Posted 1 September 2013 Can I ask how people know that Doyle is on big money? Has everyone seen his wage packet? Exactly what I want to know, someone actually mentioned he was on 40k. That 'll be taken as a fact from now on.
notnow john Posted 1 September 2013 Posted 1 September 2013 I think if we signed Van Persie some people would still find something to moan about. He's crap on his right foot!!
Fox 4 Life Posted 1 September 2013 Posted 1 September 2013 I know for a fact he was on 5k when he left Reading so I would be shocked if he was on 40k at Wolves
hackneyfox Posted 1 September 2013 Posted 1 September 2013 Premier League striker two years ago without a contract renegotiation? So was Beckford 3 years ago, Doyle now plays 3rd division football and with ffp will have to take a paycut wherever he goes. Most clubs have relegation clauses in contracts don't they?
Deucalion Posted 1 September 2013 Posted 1 September 2013 Can I ask how people know that Doyle is on big money? Has everyone seen his wage packet? Wolves fans reckon he is on £40k a week.
Ozwin Posted 1 September 2013 Posted 1 September 2013 He's a bit like Nugent, am I the only one who's a bit worried about this?
FoxLAD Posted 1 September 2013 Posted 1 September 2013 Good player. wouldn't expect him to want a low wage though.
Fox 4 Life Posted 1 September 2013 Posted 1 September 2013 Celtic were after him in July but couldn't match his 25k wages. If he wants out of league one on deadline day he may take a paycut
cityfanlee23 Posted 1 September 2013 Posted 1 September 2013 Celtic were after him in July but couldn't match his 25k wages. If he wants out of league one on deadline day he may take a paycut And with departures being speculated of Waghorn (on about 10k) Nugent(25k) Konch (25k+) Looks do-able....
hackneyfox Posted 1 September 2013 Posted 1 September 2013 Good player. wouldn't expect him to want a low wage though. Contracted at Wolves till Summer 2015 extended his contract in 2011 when they were still in the Premier. Perhaps he just wants to play, unlike a few of our better paid players.
