StanSP Posted 1 September 2013 Posted 1 September 2013 Why are people basing him only on his time at Wolves? Last season should be a write-off given how shit Wolves were anyway. What about his time at Reading in the Championship and in the Premier League?! He's 29 and nowhere near past it, but trust FoxesTalk to pick the negative and ignore the positives! He'd be a good signing and it's better that Waghorn goes because he's not getting a look in here. Even more so that he goes to a club in a different division!
LCFC FOX Posted 1 September 2013 Posted 1 September 2013 Would be a great signing IMO, could score quite a lot for us. As for Waghorn its time to move on for his own sake. So swapping these two wouldn't be bad
Dickov22 Posted 1 September 2013 Posted 1 September 2013 Back up in the event Nugent leaves for Forest
mhs123 Posted 1 September 2013 Posted 1 September 2013 Honestly think an in form waghorn is better. All he needs is confidence. Why sign a player who doesn't have a proven goal scoring record and doesn't have time to improve on that? how much longer can we wait for him to get his confidence back, only a fresh start at another club will do that i am afraid.
Dickov22 Posted 1 September 2013 Posted 1 September 2013 I'd be delighted just to see Waghorn go. He's fvcking crap
Deucalion Posted 1 September 2013 Posted 1 September 2013 Would anyone have said no to signing Peter Beardsley because he didn't score many goals? I think Doyle would create loads of chances for our other players, even if he didn't score the goals himself. I would be chuffed with this.
Leicesterpool Posted 1 September 2013 Posted 1 September 2013 Doyle isn't a regularly goal scorer there's no way he'd solve our problems. When on earth are we going in for Billy Sharp again? We don't need creators we've already got them.
cc_star Posted 1 September 2013 Posted 1 September 2013 In each of his two season here Nugent has scored more goals than anyone else at this level since Dickov's 18 in a promotion season with a team full of players who were with us in the Premiership. Why anyone would want to sell him, I'll never know. Anyway, Percy writes for The Mirror doesn't he? Mirror reported a couple of weeks ago that Hull were making a £3m bid for Doyle (who cost Wolves £6.5m) if Doyle would half his current £40k/week http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/hull-transfer-news-kevin-doyle-2153251 Don't see how Doyle's potential fee plus wages fits in with what we're capable of doing being so close to FFP limits as it is This stinks of Wolves going public because they're desperate to get rid of him & they're hoping it will entice bids.
Fox92 Posted 1 September 2013 Posted 1 September 2013 Honestly think an in form waghorn is better. All he needs is confidence. Why sign a player who doesn't have a proven goal scoring record and doesn't have time to improve on that? Waghorn, a player who has scored no more than 12 (?) league goals at second tier level, isn't a better player than Kevin Doyle. And how long will we be waiting for him to be 'in form' again? He's had a few chances under Nige and has only looked decent once if I recall correctly. It's time for him to move on imo, especially if we get another striker in. I'd take this deal.
Deucalion Posted 1 September 2013 Posted 1 September 2013 His on big wages at Wolves. Unless hes willing to take a cut im not sure this will happen. I think Waghorn is on big wages too, so probably not impossible.
Guesty Posted 1 September 2013 Posted 1 September 2013 He's not bad aerially so I'd take him. The only striker we have with any height is Wood and he doesn't even jump for headers half the time. Will suit us if we have to go direct; which seeing how we play when we set up 4-3-3 or 3-5-2 could be useful.
StanSP Posted 1 September 2013 Posted 1 September 2013 Back up in the event Nugent leaves for Forest Why would we sell Waghorn AND Nugent?
Harry - LCFC Posted 1 September 2013 Posted 1 September 2013 Not sure but would definitely give him a chance as all signings should.
Callabinho Posted 1 September 2013 Posted 1 September 2013 Yes ****ing please! He is a very good player! Last few seasons can be taken lightly for me! Very much want this to happen!
MikeyT Posted 1 September 2013 Posted 1 September 2013 Rob â€@RobJamesHarper2m Kevin Doyle Maybe just repeating what John Percy has said though.
Dickov22 Posted 1 September 2013 Posted 1 September 2013 Why would we sell Waghorn AND Nugent? Because Waghorn is terrible and Nugent earns loads
HoustonFox Posted 1 September 2013 Posted 1 September 2013 I'd be happy with this. A mobile Steve Howard...
THEBIGJOHNSTEADER; Posted 1 September 2013 Posted 1 September 2013 I JUST DON'T KNOW WHAT TO THINK ANYMORE. YOU ALWAYS DO THIS.
Guest shearfox Posted 1 September 2013 Posted 1 September 2013 A think he is good, hasn't had a good time at Wolves, sometimes that happens he is only 29 and worth the risk because if he recaptures his form we have a natural goalscorer. I remember watching him and thinking I wish we had a player like that...
Deucalion Posted 1 September 2013 Posted 1 September 2013 My impression of Doyle seems different to other people's. He plays more in the gap between midfield and the forwards and is tricky and technically gifted. He can pick out a pass and make chances for others to score. He doesn't score many himself and this has led to criticism from Wolves fans who don't understand his game. People have asked for a creative midfielder and I think Doyle might fit this role. He is different from any other striker we have at the club. Just my two-pennarth worth, but it is based on seeing him play for Wolves and the opinions of the more considered Wolves fans.
LCFC BEAST Posted 1 September 2013 Posted 1 September 2013 Nugent lives near me and his house has recently been put up for sale/rent. Not sure if his tenant is selling it or he's bought it and selling it himself.

At reading he was a goalscorer, maybe wolves are using him a bit differently... and seems to be good at that, so will fit in here nicely as that is what we need.
