Guest ttfn Posted 1 September 2013 Posted 1 September 2013 I'm not sure he's what we need, but he is a good player at this level.
gazfox9 Posted 1 September 2013 Posted 1 September 2013 Please no to Kevin Doyle. Not what we need, especially on decent money. Id rather keep what we have now. Oh, and I also can't take seriously anything Wolverhampton wanderers fans have to say about him, as the ones I know thought Richard Stearman was a world beater.
Karljohn Posted 1 September 2013 Posted 1 September 2013 Signing Doyle would make no difference at all, he won't score more goals than Wood, Vardy and Nugent imo. Past his best. Agree, if he improves the squad, sign him. He doesn't! All of our strikers can score but they are 1 in 4, we need a 30 goal striker, Doyle isn't one.
MC Prussian Posted 1 September 2013 Posted 1 September 2013 Regardless of his recent bad spell with Wolves, I do believe Doyle would give us this little extra in depth of squad and experience that we've been lacking for a while. I do see deficiencies in the midfield unable to link up with our strikers, oftentimes it results in clueless exercises and painful back and side passing (a style of play we've all come to resent in recent years, I'm led to believe). I can see Doyle fitting in nicely in a CF/ST role, allowing Knockaert more time on the wings. With a move, both sides would profit tremendously.
Dan Posted 1 September 2013 Posted 1 September 2013 The verdict from their fans is that he's not a prolific goalscorer, he'll get us a few goals but not too many. They say he's a very hard worker, and if anything more of a creative link-up man. I actually don't think it'd be that bad a signing if we get him. Do any of our forwards play a role like that well? It sounds like the kind of role Pearson seems to want from Wood but hasn't really got it from him. We'll see how it pans out anyway, it may never happen.
Jimmy Posted 1 September 2013 Posted 1 September 2013 But it wouldn't be hard to commute from Leicester to Nottingham. I'm quietly confident that our important players will stay. are we certain Nugent actually lives in Leicester not back up north?
paddy Agyemang Posted 1 September 2013 Posted 1 September 2013 Way past it no thanks rather keep waghorn n give him playing time to get better again
Soar Fox Posted 1 September 2013 Posted 1 September 2013 Someone in the Charlton away end yesterday seemed to think it significant that Nugent's banner had been taken down at the KP. I thought he was a conspiracy theorist type as he also mentioned Nigel's daughter being the reason Marshall has gone. So am I right in thinking this was ludicrous? Stringers latest tweet does seem to make sense that one striker might need to leave if Doyle comes in. It sounds like Nige needs to headbutt his daughter with all the shenanigans she gets upto with his players. Little minx.
Deucalion Posted 1 September 2013 Posted 1 September 2013 are we certain Nugent actually lives in Leicester not back up north? He has a house near Gilrose Cemetery on that new estate I believe.
Jimmy Posted 1 September 2013 Posted 1 September 2013 Way past it no thanks rather keep waghorn n give him playing time to get better again he's 29 He has a house near Gilrose Cemetery on that new estate I believe. fair play to him, unlike many others he actually moved to the area, shows some sommitment
Guest shearfox Posted 1 September 2013 Posted 1 September 2013 It sounds like Nige needs to headbutt his daughter with all the shenanigans she gets upto with his players. Little minx. If Nige got rid of all the players that had been with her we wouldn't have any left
Soar Fox Posted 1 September 2013 Posted 1 September 2013 If Nige got rid of all the players that had been with her we wouldn't have any left She's been with her brother aswell..... Slag
KFS Posted 1 September 2013 Posted 1 September 2013 Waggy just doesn't excite me anymore, might aswell get Doyle in, it'll be a laugh
ramadaone Posted 1 September 2013 Posted 1 September 2013 In each of his two season here Nugent has scored more goals than anyone else at this level since Dickov's 18 in a promotion season with a team full of players who were with us in the Premiership. Why anyone would want to sell him, I'll never know.Anyway, Percy writes for The Mirror doesn't he?Mirror reported a couple of weeks ago that Hull were making a £3m bid for Doyle (who cost Wolves £6.5m) if Doyle would half his current £40k/weekhttp://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/hull-transfer-news-kevin-doyle-2153251Don't see how Doyle's potential fee plus wages fits in with what we're capable of doing being so close to FFP limits as it isThis stinks of Wolves going public because they're desperate to get rid of him & they're hoping it will entice bids. John Percy is very very rarely wrong
Tielemans63 Posted 1 September 2013 Posted 1 September 2013 Bring in Doyle and offload Waggy? No brainer IMHO. Gerrit done.
Dickov22 Posted 1 September 2013 Posted 1 September 2013 He's quick but his eyes let him down! Passes to keepers and an empty space, clumsy player. Still performing the best in the squad as a striker though. He set our goal up yesterday with a good run and cross
Bob Weasel Fox Posted 1 September 2013 Posted 1 September 2013 I'm a bit unsure about Doyle now. A couple of seasons back I'd have loved him at the club, but he seems to have lost something (pace?) I think his best days have gone to be honest. ThisPlus Waghorn still deserves a chance IMO
Dickov22 Posted 1 September 2013 Posted 1 September 2013 This Plus Waghorn still deserves a chance IMO Yeah. He needs another chance. 1000 just isn't enough.
Bob Weasel Fox Posted 1 September 2013 Posted 1 September 2013 Yeah. He needs another chance. 1000 just isn't enough. blimey he must have played more than I thought . . . . . . .
JohnnyFox Posted 1 September 2013 Posted 1 September 2013 He set our goal up yesterday with a good run and cross Yeah but made silly mistakes yesterday and at the Brum game.
Dickov22 Posted 1 September 2013 Posted 1 September 2013 Yeah but made silly mistakes yesterday and at the Brum game. Rubbish. He's fine. Along with Moore and Wes he's been our best player so far this season
lgfualol Posted 1 September 2013 Posted 1 September 2013 Can't we take Doyle and give wolves Waghorn on loan for the season?
Basingstoke Fox Posted 1 September 2013 Posted 1 September 2013 I'd definitely take him if we won't cost much and his wages will be low. I saw him alot when he was at Reading when they first got promoted to the Premier League and he was absolute class. He's obviously not at that same level right now but he's more than capable as a backup to Nugent, Wood and Vardy! On a side note, if there's no truth in this, I think a loan would be good for Waghorn anyway.
Guest Col city fan Posted 1 September 2013 Posted 1 September 2013 One final time... Vardy and Nugent will score goals. They are generally good enough to do so. It's the SUPPLY that is the problem. That's clear as crystal to me. This has been true for ages. Both under Sven and now Pearson we do not have enough quality in midfield, or on the flanks to deliver the final balls through to the front men. Bollox to Doyle. I'd be looking at a player like Chris Burke at Brum, as an example. This team soooooo needs a Whittingham, a Koren a Chris Eagles... We MUST start to get forward more quickly and execute that killer pass on a far more frequent basis. I predicted that this would happen in the summer (and started a thread on it)... We are STILL looking at the strikers with a view to replacing them. Strikers thrive off quality delivery.... THERE'S the problem.
