Kitchandro Posted 9 September 2013 Posted 9 September 2013 "Fifa may have made a "mistake" in awarding the 2022 World Cup to Qatar, according to president Sepp Blatter. Summer temperatures can reach 50C in the Middle Eastern country. Football Association chairman Greg Dyke said it would be "impossible" to play in such conditions, and Blatter wants the tournament moved to the winter. Asked by insideworldfootball.com about awarding Qatar the tournament, the 77-year-old said: "It may well be that we made a mistake at the time." http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/24023651 Cheers for that Sepp.
marko Posted 9 September 2013 Posted 9 September 2013 I'm impressed how he always seems to get a sly dig in at us. "do not rule the world anymore, and that some former European imperial powers can no longer impress their will onto others in far away places."
The Year Of The Fox Posted 9 September 2013 Posted 9 September 2013 What a bell he really is. Money talks I spose
MC Prussian Posted 9 September 2013 Posted 9 September 2013 ... and still, things won't change and Qatar will retain that World Cup hosting spot.
jonthefox Posted 9 September 2013 Posted 9 September 2013 So what happens to the premier league then if its moved to say xmas?.
Corky Posted 9 September 2013 Posted 9 September 2013 Yeah, we knew this in late 2010 when it was awarded to them.
Danizen Posted 9 September 2013 Posted 9 September 2013 To be fair to him, he does admit when he's made a cock up of things. Usually about three years too fooking late. He admitted that having two World Cup bidding processes going on at the same time was basically asking for back-handed deals and corruption after they'd already been awarded to Russia and Quatar when the rest of us saw it coming a mile off.
Dan Posted 9 September 2013 Posted 9 September 2013 Have someone made a bigger bribe offer or something? Corrupt cvnt.
Vacamion Posted 9 September 2013 Posted 9 September 2013 Just read Blatter's Wiki entry. Unbelievable. He is the Duke of Bent.
Fox42 Posted 9 September 2013 Posted 9 September 2013 I don't understand what Qatar has that Australia hasn't. And please don't say money. Look how well South Africa coped.
Dan Posted 9 September 2013 Posted 9 September 2013 I don't understand what Qatar has that Australia hasn't. And please don't say money. Look how well South Africa coped. It is money though. If anyone tries to seriously claim Qatar landed it due to anything other than money then they'll believe absolutely anything. They've got enough of it to build the infrastructure, but they've never even qualified for it for fvck sake, they shouldn't have been taken seriously for that alone.
stevelcfc Posted 9 September 2013 Posted 9 September 2013 Just scrap it, I have no interest in international football as it is, let alone if they plan on moving it to clash and disrupt the rest of the footballing world.
21st Century Fox Posted 9 September 2013 Posted 9 September 2013 I'm torn, on the one hand Blatter is the epitome of corrupt but on the other hand I kind of was looking forward to the regular sight of players vomiting everywhere because of excessive heat.

Only other reason I can think of he's trying to globalise the event everywhere. It hasn't been held in the Middle East before and there's a massive uprising football interest there (as well as most continents but you get the drift). I am standing by the fact money isn't the sole reason of Qatar winning that bid.

I am standing by the fact money isn't the sole reason of Qatar winning that bid. That's what he'll have you believe. I personally think if that is a factor (and you may be right, it could be) it's the cherry on top of the bribes he'll have received. He'll use that as his reason because as much as I'm against the idea of Qatar having it, it is a valid point, it's fitted very nicely for him. Russia is equally as bad. African sides are in genuine danger out there.

Another thing I've just realised, a team currently ranked 111st in the world would be qualified automatically for the finals to host the cup That's one place booked that one world-class, highly-proven team will miss out on, because of "financial affairs" with FIFA...
MooseBreath Posted 10 September 2013 Posted 10 September 2013 I'm torn, on the one hand Blatter is the epitome of corrupt but on the other hand I kind of was looking forward to the regular sight of players vomiting everywhere because of excessive heat. I'm looking forward to the opening game breaking down after five minutes due to heat, and then for the camera to cut to Sepp Blatter whose face is literally melting as he spasms his way through a heat-induced stroke, culminating into an explosive heart attack (his heart literally explodes, covering all those around him in Brown decrepit slime that used to be blood) which kills him, prompting mass celebrations all around the world.
Uncle Albert Posted 10 September 2013 Posted 10 September 2013 Just scrap it, I have no interest in international football as it is, let alone if they plan on moving it to clash and disrupt the rest of the footballing world. Yeah, scrap the World Cup! Dick head.

All well and good if the intent behind the globalising was for the fans But I'd bet it's because it means more money for those running the game.
Fox92 Posted 10 September 2013 Posted 10 September 2013 It was stupid giving it to them in the first place... Anything but England hosting it though, eh Sepp?
Corky Posted 10 September 2013 Posted 10 September 2013 It was stupid giving it to them in the first place... Anything but England hosting it though, eh Sepp? We only went for the 2018 tournament.
Uncle Albert Posted 10 September 2013 Posted 10 September 2013 It's a shame to think I won't see England host a World Cup in my lifetime when I'm only 22!
ACF Posted 10 September 2013 Posted 10 September 2013 Read the OP then read this http://www.goal.com/en/news/13/united-states/2013/01/01/3639686/sepp-blatter-criticises-major-league-soccer-for-lack-of Hypocrite.
