Blackburn Rovers (H) Pre-match

Same team from Saturday for me.

Blackburns danger will come from the movement and natural goalscoring instinct of Jordan Rhodes. Everything good in an attacking sense will have his involvement in it.

It's important that Moore & Morgan improve from their benchmark performance on Saturday to deal with Rhodes. It's also important that the quality in the wide areas comes from both sides on Tuesday unlike Saturday.

The benchmark for home performances has been set, and we must continue to kick onwards. If we do so, we will win the game.

One danger, is that Blackburn will defend set pieces and attack set pieces better which was our downfall at Charlton. So as long as keep strong and organised at set pieces, and attack as a team with width I can only see one outcome.

Same team, I feel it's harsh to leave out James but I think it must be done. Maybe Schlupp on for Dyer, and Dyer to come on and tire their defenders.

Going to go 1-1, nugent goal.

Subs: James, Logan, Schlupp/Dyer, Wood, Hammond, Miguel, Gallagher

James to be honest hasn't had the best of starts, he didn't deserve to be sent off but we didn't miss him yesterday.

When Wood plays we hoof the ball up to him so for that reason it is better off just playing Vardy and Nugent who are more pacier options and encourage the team to play footie on the deck.

Knocky needs a free role to really pull the strings and having Hammond sit will give the full backs more cover to get forward, both Vardy and Nugent drift wide & drop deep all the time meaning no one is in the box so I'd start Wood and Vardy has been better then Nugent this season

Anybody who boos Marshall should be shot on sight!!

Maybe a bit of Leicester reject but no booing!

Hope you bring your gun because I'll boo the useless little shit.

Sounds good but i think it would look even better instead of Knocky behind the two forwards, how about Schlupp?

and what makes you think Schlupp could play a creative free role? he is a striker or winger and has not attributes suited to play behind a front 2, if Schlupp were to go into that line up he'd replace Wood

We need width. And Vardy and Nugent offer that anyway, Wood doesn't.

yeah and then leave the box empty, you don't need both as Knockaert would still go wide and the full backs would get forward, what's the point having both Vardy wide left and Nugent on the left 20 yards behind play and an empty penalty box for the cross?

What I meant was that Nugent and Vardy use their space well, not they play permanently as wide players, whether on the left or right flanks unlike Wood who's a bit of a Beckford in the sense that he can only do the dirty work in the box itself unlike anywhere else but a better job than him, obviously. Knockaert can't just go from one side of the pitch to the other throughout a game, that would tire the shit out of him, seeing as he doesn't have the pace either.

Moore will bag another from a set piece. The run he makes is very clever, watched him carefully on Saturday. Starts outside the area, moves towards the near post then drifts off behind everyone to the back stick. Mark my words, he'll get a couple from set pieces this season.

Think we need to change it up a little to keep Blackburn guessing and that seems to be the Pearson way this year chop and change the tactics. I would bring schlupp back and give Konchesky a rest ready for the Blackpool away game same with nugent bring wood in and save James for sat although from what we have seen Pearson really likes the lad. If things go tits up we can always bring on nugent. After all this is why we have a squad and its great we have competition for places. If we can nullify Rhodes then we should come out with a comfortable win. Don't know why people are worried about Marshall although I liked him he has been average at best the last year. I think the tactics Blackpool away could be really interesting full expect Hammond to start with James and King

Same formation. James for Drinkwater.

Marshall is bang average. I don't worry about him.

2-1 City... Nugent and Knocky, Rhodes for them

I wouldn't drop Drinkwater after Saturdays performance! He was much better.

Agreed, was quality. That ball to Vardy with the outside of the right foot was sublime.
