TJB-fox Posted 30 October 2013 Posted 30 October 2013 Even if we stay down, he deserves a years extension, really feel like hes building something here
Happy Fox Posted 30 October 2013 Posted 30 October 2013 I think NP is aware that promotion remains the priority although a cup Run is Fantastic and a nice added bonus thus Far lets be honest I think he is also aware that he won't get offered a new contract if he doesn't deliver Promotion. Lets hope The gods Continue to shine on us
Fox92 Posted 30 October 2013 Posted 30 October 2013 Even if we stay down, he deserves a years extension, really feel like hes building something here Agree. Would hate to see someone come in and mess it up, again.
21st Century Fox Posted 30 October 2013 Posted 30 October 2013 If he still has the promotion bonus that was reported when he came back then it would surely take a massive offer from elsewhere for him to leave. How many PL clubs would really offer an un-proven PL manager a substantial sum? I'd risk it and wait to make sure our form doesn't capitulate again. I guess it boils down to how many more chances the Thais are willing to give him were we to not make it again.
Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 30 October 2013 Posted 30 October 2013 I'd say yes but I'd advise him to steer clear of EE whose coverage is shite.
RonnieTodger Posted 30 October 2013 Posted 30 October 2013 I can't think of a manager (in recent years) who has deserved one more.
Jace Posted 30 October 2013 Posted 30 October 2013 Anyone have any idea what type of bonus he would expect if promotion was achieved?
Kitchandro Posted 30 October 2013 Posted 30 October 2013 In some ways maybe. We are steadily improving still, IMO. But really promotion is the only target. If we go up we should definitely give him one. Other than that, I think it's depends how close we get and how strong the team looks. I have to say, I usually believe a manager should always feel safe in his job if the team are improving. If we finish with more points and look better than last season but don't go up, would it be wise to sack him? Or would it be more of a risk than keeping him?

indierich06 Posted 30 October 2013 Posted 30 October 2013 If we go up would it be more of a risk to keep him? You seem to automatically think he's going to be useless in the Premier League. Based on what exactly? There are plenty of managers who haven't managed in that league before who have done alright in that league, and there are plenty of 'experienced' Premier League managers who have been shit?
Fox92 Posted 30 October 2013 Posted 30 October 2013 Anyone have any idea what type of bonus he would expect if promotion was achieved? Promoted to rank of "winner".
hackneyfox Posted 30 October 2013 Posted 30 October 2013 You seem to automatically think he's going to be useless in the Premier League. Based on what exactly? There are plenty of managers who haven't managed in that league before who have done alright in that league, and there are plenty of 'experienced' Premier League managers who have been shit? I previously thought he'd be a disaster in the premier, I'm currently impressed with what we've done so far this season but the horrors of last season stop me from being too positive this season. How we play aginst the better sides over the season and where and how we finish will determine whther or not I think he should be given an extension. If the owners are thinking of spending a large amount on team improvements should we get promoted they may want a more high profile manager who can attract quality players to the club, players who want to play for the manager rather than just pick up a salary.
hackneyfox Posted 30 October 2013 Posted 30 October 2013 Fook all I'm assuming as nobody has rushed on to mention it.
Rob1742 Posted 30 October 2013 Posted 30 October 2013 Difficult one as I firmly believe that most managers at some point hit a wall. They maybe able to turn things around once or twice, but even then a fresh face maybe needed. I have backed Pearson 100% since he has been here and thought he has done an excellent job - firstly in creating a new team to take us straight up, then secondly undoing all the harm Sven did and creating a new strong unit to get us where we are now. It certainly looks like we are having a good season, so Pearson is in a real position of strength and I believe will request a three year deal with improved terms. I would think our owners would want a shorter deal, incase he did not perform in the Prem should we go up and so minimise the financial risk. I think we currently have a good manager who is doing well, but there are few Fergusons around and at some point he will hit a wall and be replaced. I hope he does well with his negotiations as it is a thankless job where the inevitable happens, little loyalty and I personally think he deserves to do well out of his next contract based on how he has done so far.
XLM Posted 30 October 2013 Posted 30 October 2013 The fact that heads didn't even drop against a premier league club shows the kind of mentality he brings to the club. Best manager we've had since Martin O'Neal, and we should do everything we can to keep him.
hackneyfox Posted 30 October 2013 Posted 30 October 2013 Pearson is in a real position of strength and I believe will request a three year deal with improved terms. Looking for improved terms isn't likely to happen if we're still under FFP.
Rob1742 Posted 30 October 2013 Posted 30 October 2013 I have been annoyed at the anti Pearson situation last season. Having to have a clear out of key high earners and having to get the budget down massively, while finishing the way we did speaks volumes for what he has done. Whatever happens and wherever he goes, you can look at what he has done to date as nothing short of excellent. That is why personally I am pleased he has got himself into a situation to earn a good contract again, either from us or elsewhere. It is all about who has the power in the negotiations and I think he is in a good place right now.
Stadt Posted 30 October 2013 Posted 30 October 2013 Yes Even if we don't go up, I'd still want him to sign, realistically who else is there out there that would come here and be a success. Pearson knows the club and he knows the players, it's his side and he knows the strengths and the weaknesses of the side and with Pearson at the helm I feel assured that we're going to be comfortably under the FFP limits. He has his faults of course, his biggest flaw is how long it takes him to adapt the side to get it playing well but he seems to have addressed the problem this year! Sign him up!
indierich06 Posted 30 October 2013 Posted 30 October 2013 I previously thought he'd be a disaster in the premier, I'm currently impressed with what we've done so far this season but the horrors of last season stop me from being too positive this season. Sounds like when Sven was here, and look what we ended up with then? Pearson's always attracted players to the club who want to play for Leicester and for him, and Steve Walsh has certainly shown he has an eye for a player - we managed to unearth Knockaert and beat Montpellier to signing him while in the Championship, I'd certainly be very excited to see what kind of players Pearson and Co would bring in if we were promoted.
hackneyfox Posted 30 October 2013 Posted 30 October 2013 We need to stop harking back to old managers, the owners made a mistake with Sven, not all high profile managers will bring in such a poor group of players. At the moment I'm still indifferent to whether he stays or goes should we get promoted, I'm hoping that changes.
Happy Fox Posted 30 October 2013 Posted 30 October 2013 Leicester City: Nigel Pearson avoids contract talk Leicester City manager Nigel Pearson fears contract negotiations could disrupt the Foxes' form. Pearson and 12 of his players, including goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel and striker David Nugent, are in the final year of their current deals. The Foxes boss would rather focus on staying in the Championship's top two and continuing their League Cup run. The final year Foxes Leicester City manager Nigel Pearson and 11 of his players are in the final year of their contracts. They are: Kasper Schmeichel (pictured), Sean St Ledger, Marcin Wasilewski, Wes Morgan, Paul Konchesky, Zac Whitbread, Neil Danns, Martyn Waghorn, Gary Taylor Fletcher, Lloyd Dyer, David Nugent and Conrad Logan. "It's counterproductive to be discussing stuff like that," Pearson told BBC Radio Leicester. "It certainly doesn't affect how I work and is not something I really want to discuss. "The important thing is that we stay focused on the job at hand. Once you start getting side-tracked I think it is a dangerous approach to take." Lloyd Dyer, who scored the late winner against Premier League side Fulham in the fourth round of the League Cup on Tuesday, is also among those out of contract next summer. Pearson feels patience and building on the run of six wins in seven games will be rewarded in time. "The players have to embrace that attitude themselves, they have to go out there and continue to perform well," Pearson said. "If they do that then hopefully everything else takes care of itself. "Let's try to enjoy the situation, enjoy the challenge for what it is."
DANGEROUS TIGER Posted 30 October 2013 Posted 30 October 2013 If we get promoted this season, or win a trophy, yes. If not, then no.
Jace Posted 30 October 2013 Posted 30 October 2013 End of this season will be end of a mini era I think either we achieve promotion or we say goodbye to several players and possibly even Pearson. Should be very interesting very confident we will be in the top 6 at the moment
