foxaholic Posted 3 December 2013 Posted 3 December 2013 Any one who gets stuck in tends to beat us. Folks say a blipis inevitable why we lost 5 when Micky Adams went up we have already lost 4 twiceasmany as QPR and Burnley. West Ham came 3rd with 86 points
Mark_w Posted 3 December 2013 Posted 3 December 2013 I'm not quite sure what your point is, I'm fairly sure it's stupid. But anyway, in response to the thread title, Yeovil.
Finnaldo Posted 3 December 2013 Posted 3 December 2013 Twice as many losses as QPR and Burnley, bit still top.
LutterworthLCFC Posted 3 December 2013 Posted 3 December 2013 But still won more than anyone else I'm the league
Guest kristianity77 Posted 3 December 2013 Posted 3 December 2013 We might well of lost 4 compared to Burnley and QPRs 2. But more importantly, do you think they would swap places with us in the league?
StanSP Posted 3 December 2013 Posted 3 December 2013 Wtf is this? We're joint top. Yeah we've lost 4 but we've also won 12. And 'always lose away'? You sure about that? Yeovil? You got any other stats to shock us with just to suit your own view? Yawn.
Fox92 Posted 3 December 2013 Posted 3 December 2013 We are top of the league? Surely that speaks for itself? Last season Hull lost 15 games (but got promoted)... But that's the same amount as Blackpool who finished 15th, and Birmingham who finished 12th. Swansea lost 14 games when they got promoted, and only scored 69 goals. What's the difference? The amount a team wins? We're top of the league for a reason, regardless of how many games other teams have lost.
Corky Posted 3 December 2013 Posted 3 December 2013 I think he has a point, but I don't agree that a blip is inevitable. We've got to stop losing the games, draw is the least we should expect.

Folks say a blipis inevitable why we lost 5 when Micky Adams went up we have already lost 4 twiceasmany as QPR and Burnley. West Ham came 3rd with 86 points For some strange reason no one bothered to tell the managers of any of the following teams that all they had to do was "Get stuck in" - whatever that means: Boro Wycombe Leeds Derby Birmingham Carlisle Wigan Blackburn Blackpool Derby Barnsley Yeovil Hudds Bournemouth Fulham Watford Ipswich Millwall Hmm, interesting...

Guest MattP Posted 3 December 2013 Posted 3 December 2013 Twice as many losses as QPR and Burnley, bit still top. Shows the value of going for three points instead of taking a draw, should always do it. One point for a draw and three for a win, it's common sense. You could lose 20 games in a season and still go up if you won the other 26
Oxfordfox83 Posted 3 December 2013 Posted 3 December 2013 This... Absolutely not this. No more draws please, I'll take three wins and a thrashing in every four.
Donut Posted 3 December 2013 Posted 3 December 2013 What does it matter which teams you are beating as long as you put up a points total sufficient to go up?
Mark_w Posted 3 December 2013 Posted 3 December 2013 I think he has a point. Can you explain it to the rest of us?
KFS Posted 4 December 2013 Posted 4 December 2013 This happens, my Saints supporting mate said that some games they just looked completely redundant. It's all about how we pick ourselves up against Brighton.
davieG Posted 4 December 2013 Posted 4 December 2013 One win and one defeat is better than two draws. I'm more concerned about whether we able to sustain good performances and get results whilst sitting at the top of the league, something we seem to have struggled with.
Jakemoore Posted 4 December 2013 Posted 4 December 2013 Can't personally see any reason to moan, complain or change anything. Just leave it how it is. We're going to lose some games, it's inevitable! And we're far more likely to lose away than home, that's pretty standard really! We're still going up this year, in Pearson I trust.

And we're far more likely to lose away than home, that's pretty standard really! We're still going up this year, in Pearson I trust. How the hell is it inevitable? That's stupid. Is it also inevitable that we win games? No we have to go out there and earn it. We didn't go out and earn it today, but lets stop excusing that with previously good form, and a short sighted view that we are top of the league. It's a long season as points like these will hurt us. It was an opportunity to be in automatic by 5 points going into a difficult run. As Nigel says we take each game one by one and this one is no exception, it wasn't good enough and need to improve now.
Freeman's Wharfer Posted 4 December 2013 Posted 4 December 2013 The point is a valid one. Look at the teams that have beaten us away from home this season; Charlton, Doncaster and Sheffield Wednesday. All relegation fodder and yet all beat us. When there are scraps and physical battles to be won in the middle of the park James, King and Drinkwater can't cut it and in all of these games we've been unable to take a hold of the ball and the match because we've been out-fought. Second half last night Pearson put Hammond on to give us a bit more bite and it worked because we were improved second half. In games away at these poor sides who want to turn the match into a scrap we've got to take a different approach, all the best teams in this league can scrap when they need to. Whether Hammond is the ideal man for the job I'm not sure. Personally I'd like someone with an even bigger physical presence, a real big unit who might not have as much ability on the ball but who can do the dirty work when required. But he's certainly better at it than King, Drinkwater and James. Hopefully Pearson learns from his mistake (which in reality has been made for the last two years - anyone recall Millwall away where we lost the battle and subsequently the match?) and, when we go to sides that are likely to want to turn the match into a battle because they know they won't beat us playing football, we see Hammond in from the start to help us take a grip on the game early doors. Millwall away on 1st January will tell us if he has.

davieG Posted 4 December 2013 Posted 4 December 2013 I wasn't there but I don't get the impression we were muscled out of this game. There was some poor defending/closing down for their goals but we had 59% possession with 15 attempts 8 of which were on target. It seems like it was generally just a poor performance in terms of passing and finishing as I said in another topic that could just a easily be down to being unable to take the pressure of maintaining the top spot as it was about being out muscled.
Super_horns Posted 4 December 2013 Posted 4 December 2013 You were probably unlucky that the opposition sacked their manager 2/3 days before... How many times do you see said team come out and play so much better than they have done all season.
